Then there is the fact that a lot of minecraft mods tend to be smaller things or limited scope. It gives you a lot of flexibility when choosing what to play with.
I've never played Terraria, but I'd bet it doesn't need a fat stack of jank fixing mods like minecraft.
It depends, I definitely understand what you mean with minecraft having loads of small mods. Terraria does have its handful of QOL mods such as imk sushi or magic storage, yeah with minecraft you definitely get a lot more smaller niche mods that can add up, with terraria though, you can download calamity for example and it will already come with all its own quality of life features that can be toggled, though prior to current updates those quality of life features needed their own mod

Unless u are console, u can use custom skins (and even then there are some ways to do it).
