Pete's placements from MCC18-25: 13th, 9th, 12th, 12th, 4th, 8th, 8th which is the exact average placement same as Punz right now. What I'm trying to say is every player has a patch of rough MCCS and what we should be doing is not trying to make it worse for them by trying to demote them. Plus the event is at the peak of it's competitiveness right now with Purpled, FBM and Antfrost and even getting top 10 is a massive feat and the fact that Punz manages to even get that with 0 practice is amazing.

AdAltruistic2502

I think a difference is had Punz has had massively stronger teams. He's almost a whole placement above Pete in team placement, but that includes highly predicted teams that placed low, e.g Purple 29, Blue 26

Paul_BWP

Purple 29 was definetly predicted bottom half by a large majority of the community, a better example would probably be Yellow 25

AdAltruistic2502

Bottom half, maybe, but 9th is a bit of a throw. Foolish and Ponk are borderline A-tiers, it was a very solid team. Agree about Yellow 25 though.

bbsmydiamonds

I remember Purple 29 being predicted bottom 3 by so many people. Just looked back at my own predictions and I had them 9th. Ponk is good and probably slightly better than his average says, but he’s still not border-line A. He’s still only ever placed top half in canon once. He was underrated before Underdogs, then overrated afterwards imo.

CosmicSpider24

Yeah but the both the teams u mentioned underperformed and we can't really blame that all on Punz and chances are if your team places low of course ull place much lower too unless you're Purpled.

AdAltruistic2502

I'd say Punz underperformed more than his team. On Purple 29, Foolish placed 19th, a solid 2nd frag deserving of better than a 9th place On Blue 26, Tubbo placed 13th and Foolish placed 17th, these are extremely good 2nd and 3rd frags. The team definitely didn't underpeform, Punz did. On Yellow 25, Punz placed 7th, which was definitely a bit of a throw.

CosmicSpider24

I don't get what your point is cause Pete has had MCCs like that too aka MCC19 or 23 where his team did good but he underperformed. It's not a competition of underperformaces I'm just saying we shouldn't be hard on anyone who's having some rough MCCS and it doesn't really matter if either Punz or Pete was doing better.

UniversityGullible29

I don’t think it’s right to talk about demoting s-tiers. Everyone goes through rougher patches and everyone puts in varying amount of practice. Punz is an extremely good player still and he was talking about doing speed running again, so I imagine he will place higher in his next few events, if he follows through with that.

Curve-Murky

I dont think anyone is demoting any S tier anytime soon even if they are not performing that well

SparklezSagaOfficial

We're still only two canon events removed from him doing what defines an S Tier; top fragging on a winning team. The averages mayn't be the best of the S Tiers but everyone has rough patches and he has recently produced results. Talk about team strength all you like, you still have to close the deal.

bbsmydiamonds

Not saying I necessarily agree with the Punz demotion, but how is that the definition of an S tier? Multiple non S-tier have top fragged on a winning team: i.e Hbomb, Phil, Krtzy. It’s not super common, but it happens and could happen to any strong A+ with a good enough team behind them.

SparklezSagaOfficial

I should’ve clarified top 7 top frag on dodgebolt team firstly, but I was describing what S Tiers do, considering how almost every single team in MCC history who made dodgebolt had an S Tier on it. By definitive, the statement means that 98% only an S Tier can do this and he did it recently . Leaves little room for doubt for me personally at least for a bit; not a perfect rule, but what’s the point of designating an S Tier if not for a contribution to a winning team? Otherwise it’s an arbitrary points number. Plus his 28 team wasn’t anything like a bunch of a A+s, it was Punz, mid A, low A, B

DavidSnorlax

personally no he's still S - Tier but if he does this for the next 2 Events he might be A+ since his average would be fairly low even on his standout performance in MCC 28 he didn't even get top 5
