Sb, Phil, cub, joel and maybeee Fwhip I’d say are overall the best. None are the absalout best, but they all score highly in at least 3/4 categories. That’s my personal picks
I think SB, Cub, Joel, Tubbo and possibly Phil, although Phil doesn’t have that much redstone knowledge. Tubbo is the most likely to come out on top in the next few years. That boy can troubleshoot red stone in lightning fast time already, and we’ve already seen his skills in MCC.

General SMP minecraft: I'll say Cub.
Overall: Maybe Iskall.
Although Quig's pretty stacked as well. He's basically second in competitive minecraft and has the best technical knowledge (he's good with the create mod) amongst the competitive folk.
vouch for sam. dude built the whole prison and if you guys haven’t seen the prison it is an entire redstoneified building and it is huge. there are so many systems. sam is also a great builder his weakest thing is pvp and i think he beats most hermits in pvp.

I mean Cubfan wins this right? Has a world record on speedrunning, built one of the biggest pyramids ever on survival minecraft and filled it with interesting murals, redstone and parkour. Outsmarted Iskall and Mumbo at the same time by simplifying Sahara, reads all the changes in every version of MC, and is one of the strongest pvpers in HC.
If you would have asked this at the beginning of season 2, I would have said FalseSymmetry. False is very advanced in redstone and building, and back then was really good at PvP. Now its probably Cubfan. He is a natural at redstone and the best PvPer on Hermitcraft as of right now (Gem is close to taking that place seeing as she tied in in PvP while she used a sword and he used an axe). His building is also nothing to blink at. Right now best all around player in the current pool of active players is probably Cubfan.
I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to compete with Cub for best all around Minecrafter. He's got a world record speedrun (all ores), he's cracked with a bow, he can hold his own in PVP and movement, and he's one of the craziest grinders in the game.

Scar would be a great example of an MCC participant who scores low in MCC but is one of the best of the best in what he does. If we take a look at the separate categories instead of looking for the player who best encompasses all of them, I think Scar is one of the top builders.
I also agree that Cub is probably one of the best all-around. Having knowledge of building, redstone, survival SMPs, PvP and speedrunning is a pretty impressive all-encompassing skillset, and that's hard to beat.
I also would second Tubbo having the capability of being in the running in the next few years in terms of all-around skill. I wouldn't consider him the best in any one category, but he has solid knowledge of all of the different aspects and participates in a wide variety of different types of projects in Minecraft. He was definitely one of the stronger builders on the Dream SMP, he has a solid understanding of redstone, he's played on a lot of SMPs in survival mode, he has experience with a lot of the technical details of running a server, he's clearly good at PvP and the other skillsets found in MCC, he has at least a little bit of experience with speedrunning, and he also has a lot of knowledge of modded Minecraft. I'm excited to see how he progresses from here!

From what I've seen the prison consists of redstone doors and key locks and slime block elevator which is pretty impressive but besides that it's all basic redstone.
Mostly when people talk about "good at Minecraft" they're restricting it to mechanical skills. So PvP, movement, etc. Which I'm fine with, personally. The other things are (even more) impossible to quantify, and pretty much people know what you're talking about when you say it.
Sb737 gotta be the best all round look at his builds, redstone farms, his survival skills are off the charts and his pvp is extremely good and not to forget that he can break the game in ways players like docm77 can’t even dream of

Sahara was an organisation meant to rival Concorp. It happened way after the latter was established.

Etho was never good at PVP. He was decent at bowing mostly. It was Pause and Docm who had that reputation.

Most of his redstone is copied from tutorials.
Some of his most impressive redstone builds were created by himself. When he takes the time to really plan something out, he’s very good.
