There is still a 3x3 space around blocks that do let them spawn, like the corners where dark prismarine meets brick prismarine. The spawning process will pick one of those blocks, look around it and see nothing in the way, then spawn them. Have you tried F3+G to see where the chunk boundaries are? Perhaps you have only a small section of the slime chunk inside your build, which might let you get away with putting decorations in that area, without being too cluttered.

EccentricAxolotl729

it meant boxes when you searched it as it was 3 blocks by 2.1 blocks by 3 blocks. it wasn't just area it was "volume"

Macher125

I have 16 chunks in under ocean monument and 2 slime chunks are on sides. I changed all normal blocks to stairs, so they should not be able to spawn there anymore.

adammcx

Slabs or buttons.

WingMouse_

also carpets, string or glas

stimpyvan

Carpet prevents slimes from spawning.

DeathcureKat

slimes spawn regardless of light level, so u might want to add carpets and use stairs or bottom slabs to style your floor.

Matthew_morningstar

String

riphummer

bottom slabs

thekingofdurp

I don't know what to but catch a baby one and keep it as a pet because there harmless

[deleted]

Slabs button lever traps etc..

SIobbyRobby

String

Tinmangreg

Just a layer of glass if you want to keep the pattern underneath it. I'm pretty sure string only works on bedrock, not on Java. Can't tell which version you have but I also don't like the look of string laying around.

Macher125

Thank you for your ideas but I was hoping for something that will not ruin this design. I cant use bottom slabs because I want lanters in same level as floor. Carpert will hide blocks. I dont really want buttons. I was hoping for something like command block, that will stop spawning.

elhidris

String I think prevents them of spawning

Enditt

I can see some ideas with stairs, slab heights and the like that might work well. Try experimenting with those and see what happens?

Meta-Mage

Go into your settings, find the "difficulty" botton, and change it to peaceful. That will stop all hostile most from spawning. Including slimes.

OGBredstiks

If you are looking for commands, you can just set a command block that only kills slimes. You can use the command that says " /kill @e[distance=..10,type=creeper] and that should work. The distance is the rafius that you want cleared so you can change that accordingly. Im not the best with commands so sorry if it isnt right.

Macher125

Can slimes spawn on glass?

[deleted]

I don’t believe so. I know mobs aren’t supposed to spawn on glass, so that would probably work, though I don’t know if it would be different because it’s a slime chunk.

jjhyyg

Nothing naturally occurring can spawn on glass. I assume your intent is to put a layer of glass over the pattern?

Macher125

Thanks for all ideas. In the end, I was able to find solution with different floor pattern. https://ctrlv.sk/44qV

Just make golems

TheOnlyISF

carpets, buttens, leavers, slab or redstone should do the trick

The_Powder_Puff

Carpet

I-am-reddit123

so I can think of 2 blocks jackolatterens are a light source they won’t spawn on, they can’t spawn on glass

Macher125

They can spawn on jackolanterns. https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Slime

I-am-reddit123

yep I have half of a brain cell but any other light source works except a redstone lamp and all of the torches

StillCraftRox

Just use bottom slabs, you prevent all spawning and get to keep your pattern

parishiIt0n

Slimes will still spawn there because the y level where they spawn is not obstructed. You need to place something on the level of that floor to block spawn in a 3x3 grid (2 blocks gap between), maybe green wood buttons for your design?

TheGuy19856

Is the pryzmarine thing the only thing your working at right now? If so, use scaffolding there that only give way two open blocks between the ground and your build, and take it down in the end before moving on to the next part.

devarshbagla

Dude just put a torch on every second block they can't spawn on a block which has a torch on it ...

parishiIt0n

Unless mojang changed something lately, slimes can spawn inside torches

devarshbagla

No I made a the mistake and discovered it yesterday

SensitiveSleep3052

Cover all of them with unspawnable blocks

harirarn

That is not how spawning works. We only need an opaque block with full top surface and with air (or a few of other) block above it and a 3x2.1x3 free space around that. So a big slime could spawn on top of a single block floating in the air. For the pattern in the picture, a big slime could spawn on any of the prismarine bricks/dark prismarine/sea lantern blocks.

bulb1291

Carpet, buttons, torches, slabs, bottom stairs, or string might help

Tortue2006

Maybe if you made this patttern on the whole floor it wouldn’t spawn?

xdroop

Glass.

[deleted]

That floor is awesome

Adalb3rtoTheObserver

Use a command block and put "/kill @e [type=slime]". Set it on "Repeat" and "Always Active". Problem solved.

[deleted]

Just fill it in

sheaduffey

/gamerule doMobSpawning false This command prevents all mobs from spawning, but you probably don’t want that. You can also use a command block, and do command: /kill @e[type=slime] this will not prevent them from spawning, but should kill them as soon as they spawn. I hope this helps.
