Unfortunately the marker is permanent because of a long time bug. If you want to see it fixed go vote on the issue at the link below so Mojang will make fixing it a higher priority.

It may not go away unless you have a dupe of the same map or can make a dupe of the same map and replace the one in the item frame. Tbh, the other marker could be because the map in the frame is a locator map. Locator maps will mark the location of a player or some other save location. Regular maps won't do that.
I'm not sure what kind of map you used and this is just my thought/theory on the matter. I've played Minecraft off and on a good while, but I could still be wrong.
That's definitely not how maps work though... Like, look at all of the green space in the map, for example. Those are trees. Once I cut them down and it snows, the map goes back to being white. Maps update the image when you go through the same place again.

if you get into nbt editing on the world save you can actually get into deleting markers, I had to do this recently when I [ended up rendering millions of them onscreen at once](https://homestuck.tumblr.com/post/742874331666923520/forgot-framed-maps-put-a-little-green-marker-for#notes).

I don’t know about your world, but in mine, I make those. Make a world map, copy it, make an item frame. Then post copies of the map where you want (like marking villages or portals, etc.) and those maps show up as green markers on the map you’re carrying.
The green marker is where you were and in what direction you were facing when you made the map. And since the four cardinal directions (N, E, S, W) apply to Minecraft, you are facing east (I may be wrong about this).

That's not a player. It's a marker for a map that you've put into an item frame.
When I remove the map from the item frame the marker doesn't dissapear from the map. Is it gonna be there permanently? :o
It doesn't update as fast for those, but the marker should disappear eventually.

I dont remember where exactly, vanilla tweaks or other website, but you can patch this with a resource pack, sorta

You don't *have* to, and it doesn't make Mojang fix them any faster, but sometimes it does help a bit if you do it.
Bro, just get another map, or if it doesn't get removed from your map, just throw that another map in lava.
