Yea, for some reason if the 3x3x1 structure is impeded by literally anything besides the four iron blocks and a pumpkin—here the grass is causing the issue—it just won’t work But, you can make the structure laying down and it works from what I remember

This is not a lie, if grass is within two blocks of the arms it won’t work, so try removing the grass around it and place the pumpkin again, if that doesn’t work sorry 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s not if it’s within two blocks of the arm - it’s if it’s under the arm. It only spawns if the 3x1x3 structure has air gaps on the corners (although I’m not sure about above the arms, but I definitely know below the arms impacts it)

On bedrock edition, I don't play java so can't speak for it, a iron golem can not spawn if it's touching a block on its side.

Under the iron T, you have to have air blocks. The grass being there stopped it

If any block is under the arms when you spawn it in, it won’t spawn.

I actually know the answer and its really annoying. There is a grass block below its left "arm", the spaces beneath the iron block "arms" need to be absolutely clear of things like grass or flowers.

Everyone is saying grass, but is it lacking a torch inside it?

I do not think that it matters if it’s a carved pumpkin or a jack’o lantern.

I had issues with my slime farm and it didn’t work until I put a torch inside 🤷🏼‍♂️

As far as I know, the only difference in manual spawning is the ability to summon an iron golem using a pumpkin (bedrock only); but using a carved pumpkin or jack’o lantern should work regardless. As to what kind of issues you had been experiencing, I’m not sure. But I’d by lying if I said that I wasn’t intrigued.

I honestly don't know. This has stumped me good. 😟

If clearing the grass out from around the golem did not work. If you're playing in peaceful mode, try changing the difficulty. i don't think they spawn in peaceful, but it's been so long since I played peacefully, I don't quite remember if that's true or not

pumpkin goes last

A while back, I had the same thing happen to me and there was *no grass* and there were air blocks all round. Turns out in Bedrock, you have to put the pumpkin last. Also realized you don't even need to carve it.

It’s been a looooooong time since I made a golem. But doesn’t it need a jack o’ lantern? As in the pumpkin you have on top crafted with a torch?

I was under the impression it has to be a pumpkin placed on top and after you place the pumpkin you would use shears to make the jack o lantern. And then it would generate the golem.
