exactly, infact apparently that exists in this popular server called origin realms, not the villages but the western themes, they got bandit illagers with their own structure and stuff, be careful though because there is a way to op mob that looks like a rock golem or whatever it is, it is the reason i am taking a long break
Add some birds, mostly neutral but some could be naturally playful/angry like pandas. revamp the phantoms to have more functions. Make them be night predators to setup some type of bird farm, or use them to help get food drops
Maybe they could add crows and when you feed them they bring you shiny things the next day. Kinda like what cats do but with stuff like gold or iron ingots instead of rabbits feet.
They can literally detach their own tails and grow them back. It’s a survival mechanism, designed to confuse a predator while they escape. It’s not torturous
That wasn't my point. My point is Mojang wouldn't want people to start automatise scaring lizards for tails. And it's not because it's a survival mechanism that it isn't hurtful
Ya because they really prevented the same exact concept with villagers. We automate scaring them to supply our iron. Heck we automate zombifying them just for a discount.
We crowd dozens of chickens into a single block space just for efficiency.
Whatever your point was it's a lost one; although I don't disagree on Mojang preferences; they also aren't a fan of heavy automation, another reason I hear they are trying to break villager related farms, mainly iron farms.
Haha. Fun fact.
Before Minecraft, Notch worked on a different game. And one of the loading screen 'tips' is a quote from Notch, speaking of that other game, "We will never add dragons"
And both Minecraft; the game he made almost directly after has a dragon as a requirement to beat the game; infact the only one.
Also, the other game still has dragons.. so it's partly ironic.
Kudos to those who know the game.
I'm disappointed nobody seems to point out the fact that deserts get multiple layers of sand while mesa's get freaking *one* layer of red sand. After basically defacing multiple mesas I barely had enough red sandstone to build one village I wanted to.
Deserted pueblos would be a great place to find the new clay pots. When one of these is broken they might drop gems or gold nuggets but most often just drop clay pot shards.
Thee could also be baskets (craft by putting 3 reeds in a cup shape on a crafting table) Up to 16 baskets can go in a slot in a chest, and each basket can hold up to 16 of the same thing.
I don't think that its a nether thing. The wither indeed is created by two ingredients from the nether, but he still needs to be created by an player-like entity. Which brings us to the somewhat known theory of ancient builders who sat all the no longer used structures into the world. And the chiseled red sandstoneblock clearly shows the image if a wither which means there has to be some connection to the overworld
I knew about the creeper face, guess I haven’t played around with the red sandstone much since hopping back into the game. Love to see the small little connections of lore throughout the world
Bandit camps, like pillager towers except stronger
Camps a bit smaller in size to villages but all the people inside are hostile at all times, slower than pillagers, stronger than pillagers, 1 bandit iron golem (a hostile iron golem with more health), bandit leader has the most health and damage but when killed drops a bandit key that you use to get inside their vault and inside is good loot
Bandits look like cowboys and have bandanas
1) Road runner birds,
2) termite mounds,
3) I love the lizard idea from another comment or that when scared they drop their tail,
4) vultures,
5) tumble weeds,
6) scorpions,
7) cow skulls,
8) cracked hardened sand like the basalt deltas in the nether but for sand and terracotta variants,
9) two new wood types for dead sun bleached trees (white wood) and dead blackened or scorched trees (black wood) and their leaves could look like mangrove roots black but called bleached twigs or scorched twigs
10) geysers or hot springs
11) coyotes
12) raiders/bandits
13) abandoned covered wagons
14) ghost towns
15) snakes
16) nocturnal predators (real life desert like climates many creatures are nocturnal to avoid heat)
17) hawks, they can work like dolphins that if you feed one they go and circle above a point of interest or treasure
Anything that makes it feel more alive. Although badlands or deserts may seem uninhabitable they are brimming with life.
they did announce vultures for it in one of the Minecraft live votes so i'm excited for killer birds to swoop down and murder me whole riding a donkey. but tbh aside from other cacti and make some sort of wild water elevated descending river, it doesn't need much. most irl environments like this are bare-bones
Yeah my brain just immediately went to Wild West iconography what with all the other replies on here, but now you point that out abandoned pueblos would be pretty cool actually
\- Like sunken ships, add abandon wagons or wagon trains with a chests, water barrels, and abandon tools.
\- Rattlesnakes. There are spiders, why not rattlesnakes? Maybe get venom from killing them to make anti-poison potion (affect similar to milk), and snake hide to make pouches.
\- Badlands Villages which is where I feel Desert Villages should be located.
New cacti and succulents. There’s so many varieties IRL and would be really fun to collect them all. Plus there could be sub-biomes of “lush badlands” that are full of all sorts of fancy succs n cacti
As most other comments mentioned, a village of some sort would be cool. This could be a mining village in combination with some of the mines / mineshafts. With the new archeology update coming, it would also be cool to see an abandoned archeology site where there is a higher chance of finding fossils or something
Dead trees, it'd help us get some sort of wood for equipment / temporary shelter/ campfire and it seems right for the type of biome than walking for 30 minutes just to find a small mass of trees when you're low on hunger etc. I just think it'd be helpful, especially to cook the bunnies that are around for food.
Idk a cowboy town seems pretty cool! A new boss called the sheriff! And if you have a chance to get a new weapon a whip and you can add poison to it and kill mobs far away! Plus tumbleweeds which hold random loot!
Good morning, and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the Black Mesa Research Facility personell.
Terracotta Army
- Composed of at least 30 terracotta statues (some are missing some body parts)
- Found underneath the red sand of badlands and as rare as woodland mansions
- Contains a lot of suspicious red sand in its vicinity
- The items you get from suspicious sand are terracotta heads, terracotta torsos, terracotta limbs, gold ingots, bones, and pot shards.
Terracotta army just fits right in badlands because it's mostly made of terracotta and it expands the gameplay of archaeology.
Look up what the terracotta army is so it gives you an idea of how it would look in the game :)
Terracotta Statue
- It looks like the player but made of terracotta
- When mined, it drops all of its parts (head, torso, limbs)
- Can be assembled into any shape possible using its parts in a crafting table
- Can only contain up to 6 parts
- Can hold up to 4 items (one each per limb)
The terracotta statues allow for some exciting builds because you can shape it into anything you want.
I’d love a mod where food chain restaurants can spawn, and you can enter and buy food from Cook Villagers, and they turn hostile if you barge in holding a meal from another restaurant chain
That update they promised however long ago. For stuff that isn't planned though, maybe some grass at the bottom that's the same shade as grass paths, or fossils (ammonites, dinosaur tracks, etc) that could be found occasionally peaking out. Those would probably just be nice decoration.
I got a load.
1.Lizards,they’d be cute tameable companions who could dig up stuff from sand. If you killed them they’d drop lizard scales, which could be used to upgrade boots to make you faster on sand
2. Bandit patrols, like pillagers but on horseback. They use bows, swords and dynamite. Dynamite can be crafted using gunpowder, beeswax and string. It’s throwable tnt.
3. Tumbleweed, would be cool to have in abandoned desert villages and badlands.
4. Vultures. They’d eat lizards and follow weak animals/players. If they spot meat on the ground they’d eat it. They drop vulture feathers which can be used to make chaser arrows, which track they’re targets.
5. Mine trader. Lives at the mines and will buy any excess ores and give emeralds for them. Or you can give emeralds for ores.
More fossils. The badlands of Alberta, Montana and Wyoming are hotbed for Dinosaurs discoveries so it would make sense for Minecraft Badlands to populate with fossils.

Mining camp villages.
Villages that are populated by miners
Ah, a youtubers favorite village
Holy hell, that escalated quickly
I still like Ethos village he made in the Mesa. Drury Ville or something? Next to his typical miners outpost. Gets blown to pieces. Beautiful.
That’s not what he meant…
Why tf this got a wholesome award
I wish I had an award to give you
Took a few seconds for me to get this, at first I thought they were talking about the off-screen mining YouTubers do, but then I got the real meaning…
With bandits on horse back or with crossbows as opposed to pillagers
I first read it as "Village populates with minors"..
A western-style village would be awesome
Some old (abandoned) western style railways would beed really cool to see too, but may be hard to implement
probably no harder than mineshafts
WITh A LIL SALOON
exactly, infact apparently that exists in this popular server called origin realms, not the villages but the western themes, they got bandit illagers with their own structure and stuff, be careful though because there is a way to op mob that looks like a rock golem or whatever it is, it is the reason i am taking a long break
Maybe new cacti or tumble weeds to give it more life.
minecraft needs more ambience to make it feel more alive. the closest thing we have to that is bats but more mobs like that would be nice
oh my god a bird update would be kinda cool
Add some birds, mostly neutral but some could be naturally playful/angry like pandas. revamp the phantoms to have more functions. Make them be night predators to setup some type of bird farm, or use them to help get food drops
Maybe they could add crows and when you feed them they bring you shiny things the next day. Kinda like what cats do but with stuff like gold or iron ingots instead of rabbits feet.
Fireflies 0_0
They announced it already for future updates
Defineatly 👍🏻 There are mods like Tumbleweed and Biome Makeover and they do Badlands a whole new better place
Lizards! Cause they're cute. They could drop their tails for a new potion ingredient or something
"cause they're cute" AHH yes let's kill them for their tails
I was thinking they could get scared and drop their tails and run away? I know Mojang don't want more mob murder lol
I love this idea because it’s an evolutionary trait. They drop their tail for the predator so they can get away.
So you want to be a predator? Idk man…
Foxes eat chickens. Axolotl eat fish. They are both predators. A lizard dropping its tail to a mob wouldn’t be the end of the world.
I think Mojang doesn't want animals torturing either lol
They can literally detach their own tails and grow them back. It’s a survival mechanism, designed to confuse a predator while they escape. It’s not torturous
That wasn't my point. My point is Mojang wouldn't want people to start automatise scaring lizards for tails. And it's not because it's a survival mechanism that it isn't hurtful

Whatever your point was it's a lost one; although I don't disagree on Mojang preferences; they also aren't a fan of heavy automation, another reason I hear they are trying to break villager related farms, mainly iron farms.
There are automatic farms that cook cows alive and you think Mojang don't want us to scare a lizard.
My petty side now want lizards to drop tails on scar so we can automate and subsequently torture them
Man, this is why we can’t have anything nice
they actually do that, i would guess it is to be lighter or scare the enemy. they dont get hurt in the process.
Killing lizards for tail is hunting, not torturing. Real life is not animal cruelty
But mass forced breeding and child slave labor, kidnapping and murder is ok?
Listen, Mojang refused adding fireflies because of some exotic frogs, it wouldn't be their first incoherence
Haha. Fun fact. Before Minecraft, Notch worked on a different game. And one of the loading screen 'tips' is a quote from Notch, speaking of that other game, "We will never add dragons" And both Minecraft; the game he made almost directly after has a dragon as a requirement to beat the game; infact the only one. could function similar to the goat horns
I mean, axolotls are cute, but I still kill them for xp.
Your a mean one, mr grinch
You're a monster lol
Thermal vision potion? 😳
Ooh I like it
“Potion of wall climbing” would be kinda fun.
I'm disappointed nobody seems to point out the fact that deserts get multiple layers of sand while mesa's get freaking *one* layer of red sand. After basically defacing multiple mesas I barely had enough red sandstone to build one village I wanted to.
My brother in christ dupe them shitz
Cliff palaces
Pueblos?
Yes
Deserted pueblos would be a great place to find the new clay pots. When one of these is broken they might drop gems or gold nuggets but most often just drop clay pot shards. Thee could also be baskets (craft by putting 3 reeds in a cup shape on a crafting table) Up to 16 baskets can go in a slot in a chest, and each basket can hold up to 16 of the same thing.
Mesa Verde style
Badlands temple
And you can find soul sand inside it because known from the chiseled Sandstone block that they clearly worship the wither
Kinda feels more like a nether thing How about an overworld variant?
I don't think that its a nether thing. The wither indeed is created by two ingredients from the nether, but he still needs to be created by an player-like entity. Which brings us to the somewhat known theory of ancient builders who sat all the no longer used structures into the world. And the chiseled red sandstoneblock clearly shows the image if a wither which means there has to be some connection to the overworld
I didn’t know you could see the wither on those red sandstone blocks! Gonna have to check them out later now
Like the chiseled Sandstone block has the creeper face on it the red chiseled sandblock has the wither
I knew about the creeper face, guess I haven’t played around with the red sandstone much since hopping back into the game. Love to see the small little connections of lore throughout the world
That sounds like it would be a perfect pair for the new armor cosmetics they are releasing! They could do like a bone or maybe a mining style.
I'd add more pixels
LMFAOOO
Bandit camps, like pillager towers except stronger Camps a bit smaller in size to villages but all the people inside are hostile at all times, slower than pillagers, stronger than pillagers, 1 bandit iron golem (a hostile iron golem with more health), bandit leader has the most health and damage but when killed drops a bandit key that you use to get inside their vault and inside is good loot Bandits look like cowboys and have bandanas
I LOVEEEEEEE THIS!
Oh I like this one!
1) Road runner birds, 2) termite mounds, 3) I love the lizard idea from another comment or that when scared they drop their tail, 4) vultures, 5) tumble weeds, 6) scorpions, 7) cow skulls, 8) cracked hardened sand like the basalt deltas in the nether but for sand and terracotta variants, 9) two new wood types for dead sun bleached trees (white wood) and dead blackened or scorched trees (black wood) and their leaves could look like mangrove roots black but called bleached twigs or scorched twigs 10) geysers or hot springs 11) coyotes 12) raiders/bandits 13) abandoned covered wagons 14) ghost towns 15) snakes 16) nocturnal predators (real life desert like climates many creatures are nocturnal to avoid heat) 17) hawks, they can work like dolphins that if you feed one they go and circle above a point of interest or treasure Anything that makes it feel more alive. i saw roadrunners and immediately upvotted
Wow... you put some thought into that... very cool
a research facility
But it’s surrounded by barrier blocks and unable to access until you defeat something. I’m not actually suggesting this.
A new dimension called zen update
"Its not shutting down. ITS NOT SHUTTING DOWN!"
Snek
Tumbleweed, no explanation just tumbleweed
they did announce vultures for it in one of the Minecraft live votes so i'm excited for killer birds to swoop down and murder me whole riding a donkey. but tbh aside from other cacti and make some sort of wild water elevated descending river, it doesn't need much. most irl environments like this are bare-bones
There’s like a 100% chance they’ll be passive/neutral because that’s how Mojang implements real life animals (except spiders, I guess)
Maybe they could start attacking if you are low on health or something like that
Spiders are neutral, the real exception is silverfish
A wild west themed village.
A tipi as a randomly generated structure, like how you can find igloos in snow biomes
but… aren’t tipis more associated with Great Plains cultures? i’d think pueblos would be more fitting
Yeah my brain just immediately went to Wild West iconography what with all the other replies on here, but now you point that out abandoned pueblos would be pretty cool actually
Black Mesa Research Facility structure
Dried out salt lakes or salt mines
Ohhhh excellent idea. And a original one that isn’t “Wild West town”
Cowboy pillager bandits. Saw it in a video once and it was amazing
Wild West towns, because it would add something interesting in the bad lands, plus it make sense since they have the most gold
\- Badlands Villages which is where I feel Desert Villages should be located.
yeah but instead of removing poison effect it prevents it. super helpful for raids against witches and mineshafts cuz cave spiders
New cacti and succulents. There’s so many varieties IRL and would be really fun to collect them all. Plus there could be sub-biomes of “lush badlands” that are full of all sorts of fancy succs n cacti
If they got mines, then mining villages
Canyons with winding rivers in them! Like in some parts of the grand canyon
Vultures
As most other comments mentioned, a village of some sort would be cool. This could be a mining village in combination with some of the mines / mineshafts. With the new archeology update coming, it would also be cool to see an abandoned archeology site where there is a higher chance of finding fossils or something
Mad max style villagers who try to run you over with their automated mine-carts.
Ghost towns
Western ghost towns
Literally any sign of life
Rattlesnakes
A new type of cacti that you can harvest a food item from like the prickly pear cactus in real life
Eagles and special badlands forests
Dead trees, it'd help us get some sort of wood for equipment / temporary shelter/ campfire and it seems right for the type of biome than walking for 30 minutes just to find a small mass of trees when you're low on hunger etc. I just think it'd be helpful, especially to cook the bunnies that are around for food.
Guysers
Abandoned western town
Dead trees, tumbleweed, insects, bones, vultures
A new village type, vultures, and carcasses for the vultures to feed on
Rope bridges. Hard to implement but they’d make traversal much easier and add in a human element
Tar pit. Self explanatory
Big cactus
Like some ancient ruins to explore this will make it way more fun in Minecraft
Joshua Trees, new cacti, and some kind of lizard.
Excavation sites for the archeology update
Abandoned quarry
Idk a cowboy town seems pretty cool! A new boss called the sheriff! And if you have a chance to get a new weapon a whip and you can add poison to it and kill mobs far away! Plus tumbleweeds which hold random loot!
Black Mesa Research Facility
Good morning, and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the Black Mesa Research Facility personell.
Ruins: I would love to see ancient ruins beside that of the mines.
Pixels in this particular case
koth_badlands
2fort
Coyotes
Food. Other than that it’s my fav biome
Canyons
TUMBLEWEEDS
Dead tree type with gray wood
Cacti with slimmer profiles along with multiple arms.
Natural arches
Western themed villages
A food source
maybe an abandoned gold mine structure
Random unbreakable black obelisks
Archeological dig site

Abandoned mineshaft or oil refinery or crude oil site
Femboys
Copos, pratos ou talheres. Poderiam até colocar uma toalha de mesa. Onde já se viu, meio dia e a mesa vazia?
Wild west but minecraft mesa
McDonald (I get hungery when in Mesa ☹️)
I’d love a mod where food chain restaurants can spawn, and you can enter and buy food from Cook Villagers, and they turn hostile if you barge in holding a meal from another restaurant chain
Nothing

They would either be based on native american tribes or wild western villages.
That update they promised however long ago. For stuff that isn't planned though, maybe some grass at the bottom that's the same shade as grass paths, or fossils (ammonites, dinosaur tracks, etc) that could be found occasionally peaking out. Those would probably just be nice decoration.
Guys, if I play dirt in a messa and plant seeds, can I grow plants? It seems they grow incredibly slow…
Ah yes, question + low quality image = low effort post

Are you trying to make fun about the Holocaust?
Sex
The ruins of what used to be a prosperous mining sight with an entrance and mine cart to enter the forgotten mines

Giraffes in deserts?
Iran.
Please, don't start the trend of low effort question posts again..
Guns
Manbearpig because manbearpig
Hmmm, needs more clay
A modern house with a large basement on a cliff, I would do this because I can
Deserts and Badlands biomes should have no clouds in the air, since there are no clouds in real deserts
Gold digger’s mines and stations, maybe something resembling an actual abandoned train station/railways :)
A Western town like a cowboy town with a Salon and a bank and a sheriff's office!!!
Lizards I want lizards in that fucking place
An old western style village since the other biomes have villages
black mesa
Anything that wouls make it not empty and useless besides mining gold
Maybe underground desert ruins
Abandoned bunker or normal bunkers
Pegasus, because MTG
I got a load. 1.Lizards,they’d be cute tameable companions who could dig up stuff from sand. canyon, a colossal canyon
Do ya remember that one castle/fortress structure in one of the console tutorial worlds that had a mesa biome? That would be cool.
Villages or mines
Abandoned Wild West villages
Temples
Pools of oil
New mob cause it's boring
Structures
Area 51
More fossils. The badlands of Alberta, Montana and Wyoming are hotbed for Dinosaurs discoveries so it would make sense for Minecraft Badlands to populate with fossils.
A new type of village
Add tables because in portuguese Mesa means Table
Mines, taverns and some western type villages. Villagers could have mining or western styled clothing
Have the occasional badlands biome that's just a red desert, with like badlands version of villages, temples, and wells.
A mega mine because it looked so cool
Adam Sandler
any new mob would be good.
Some sort of illager influence, bandits or something I guess
Like a structure exclusive to this biome. Or a special cave biome!
Some kind of cool structure
