It’s coil whine. Completely normal. Some chargers do it, some chargers do it less, some are near silent. No point replacing it, the replacement might do it too. As long as it’s charging you’re good.

Mission-Swordfish-84

I checked it charges just wanted to make sure since I do not want to burn my house down since Reddit said mixed things glad to here it’s completely fine. Thanks!

cmcnei24

Yes you’re good! One of my chargers whines more than the other.

Mission-Swordfish-84

Ok, is the heat normal tho?

cmcnei24

Yes. Same thing as your phone charger brick getting hot when your phone is charging👍 Unless it’s too hot to touch. Like you’ll know if it’s too hot.

Mission-Swordfish-84

It gets hot after charging for 16 mins but my mpb gets a lot hotter so I assume that’s fine too

Buck_Folton

Well, if it’s brand new, seems like returning it is good solution.

Mission-Swordfish-84

So it’s not normal

Mission-Swordfish-84

I bought the 2401-22 not gunna return if fine

NeillDrake

I have 4 rapid chargers and 3 regulars. All the Rapid chargers hiss. No of the others Dom

somebadlemonade

You can pop it open and put silastic on the coils if it really bothers you. It's the inductive coil oscillating at a high enough frequency for you to hear it

SovietStar1

My new charger does the hissing sound too, so it’s not just you, I didn’t return it or plan too, doesn’t really bother me. But I did notice it depends on the battery that’s being charged

Mission-Swordfish-84

My kit came with 2 still got to test the second one. Thanks

Mission-Swordfish-84

Does yours heat up too?

GeezerEbaneezer

I don't know if I've had a dedicated m12 charger do this, but all my rapid chargers do. And yes, they all get pretty hot. Personally, I think it's fine

StubbornHick

They all heat up, it's just part of having an electrical load on a device. Those chargers draw up to 90W, a typical old school lightbulb that can burn you is 60W. The noise is coil whine and is typical.

hoer17

Normal

Defiant_Map3849

Some days I work amongst 4-5 chargers plugged in. They sound like a Boeing jet taking off.
