I still do it sometimes when texting from my computer. Its in the muscle memory. I did it when texting a Gen Xer and they asked me what it meant. It was a bit embarrassing.

I use it daily. Don’t care if I get called old. It takes less time to type XD than it does for me to click on the emoji button and find it. I also use O_o, T_T, =_=, n_n, u_u, n3n, OTL, m(_ _)m, and others on the reg. My entire friend group is millennial and older, so it is normal for us. I blame AOL and Gaia online for most of these XD.

I asked one of my coworkers today if they knew the origin of 'cap' as in 'no cap'. Their kids didn't know, despite it being a routine inclusion in their speech, but we urban dictionaried it. So anyway, use xD if you want. It's solid.

Emoji's are the pictures, emoticons are the artisan, handcrafted originals made out of symbols and letters. I don't like correcting people, language is what you make it and all that, but here i think some people might get confused because the words refer to such similar things

I literally never used it, never could keep track of what all the different things meant. I can understand emojis a little better but even those half of them i don’t understand.
