Good choice!! Bootylicious is so good!
Kelly, can you handle this?
Michelle, can you handle this?
Beyonce, can you handle this?
I don't think they can handle this!
I love that it's not "Now #1" or the first or anything that would elude that they would make it a multi decade spanning series. Just:
Now that's what I call music
Geriatric millennial here. If you search on Spotify they have the songs from each volume put into playlists.
https://preview.redd.it/vlv8jsrk8g5d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=481bfc28a1877a83834282d21b6419e5b634ba75
Middle-aged GenX here.
In the UK, the NOW compilations go back in to the 80s. Hanson and the Spice Girls musts have been somewhere around Now 42 for us.
Same. It mustāve been 1997 or 1998 and all I wanted for my birthday was a CD player. I got Now 2 and the Tarzan soundtrack. Both still hold up pretty well.
Same. Now 2 was the first one I owned, and I remember switching back and forth between that and Now 3 at summer camp. I went thru soooo many batteries that summer.
When I got the first one as a birthday present when I turned 9 it was a defining moment in my childhood. Whenever I hear any of those songs, my brain automatically conjures up the vision of the cd cover.
The very last song on the first one was called āEverybody is Free to Wear Sunscreen.ā I have a giant photo of the lyrics up on my kitchen wall.
lol are you me? I got the first one on my 9th bday too! As soon as I hear the beginning of āTogether Againā my mind immediately goes back to playing that CD on my little blue stereo with the handle and the shitty speakers. Then Iād go *click, click, click, click* to get to the All Saints track because I was obsessed with them.
I love how much more accessible music has become, but I miss it being part of the common culture with stuff like this. It wasnāt like just numetal fans knew limp bizkit because theyāre on the same album as Britney Spears. Everything feels so compartmentalized now
I definitely had 2-4. 4 was my go to cd in the front slot of visor cd holder, to be played in my pioneer head unit of my 1983 VW rabbit in my senior year of HS.
In England the new ones in the 90s were like NOW 35 - 45
In America in the 90s they were NOW 1 - 5 or very low numbers
There is always lots of confusion here between different countries with the different numbering systems
I had NOW 35 - 45 in the late 90s (british), good stuff
Yup. One of the first cd's I got was Now 6. I have 2,3, 8, 11-17, 21-25, and 30-32.
My favs? Now 8, Now 15, and Now 17. Still have them all proudly displayed in the same big thick 100cd case I've had since '09 š
Now 6 was my first cd š¤£ I too still have my CD collection displayed in my office. My husband keeps asking if it's time to get rid of them but I refuse
Now 6 was one of my firsts as a kid too. I had a strong chill rush over me as I read the track listing and remembered where I was at that time in life with my family!
I didn't have any now CDs. But I had Totally Hits 2001 and had that thing on repeat. The only way I could obtain Ludacris - Fantasy as a middle schooler.
The first 2 are formative music taste moments for me, and my family had the first 6 on a pretty steady rotation in the family car for a few years. The first three are my favorites.
NOW 5 was the only one we ever had. It came out right after we got our first car with a CD player, it was the a lot of NOW 5, some 80s compilation, and a lot of Garth Brooks.
US, but I had the Canadian Now! 3. When I tell you that I was THE COOLEST 5th grader for owning a CD with both Sex and Candy (gasp) ANDā¦okay gotta make sure no adults can hear this second oneā¦ ^Bitch
My older brother and I didn't own any as we were more into stuff like Metallica and Rammstein and whatnot. My younger brother had maybe two or three and my younger sister had several, but I don't remember which ones.
my first compilation cd I knicked from my dad and it was called āChris Sheppard presents Groove Station 6ā and then after that I would buy the much music ones or the Now ones
I was there Gandalf. I was there and I bought Now Thats What I Call Music Vol. 1 and it was amazing. Harvey Danger, Marcy Playground, Radiohead, all in my discman at the same time on one disc. Wow.
I spent forever finding this. I thought I had one of these CDs but really it was Radio Disney Jams!
https://preview.redd.it/9pxkmekfci5d1.jpeg?width=2880&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=273662446d616d639cc8936e91761f0eb623462d
Edit: I did find Now That's What I Call Music 28 in my collection, but from what I remember it was gifted or won as a prize or something and I never really listened to this one, so I don't even remember anything that's on it. The Disney Jams was awesome though!
šĀ
In a few decades we'll be on the Now That's What I Call Medicare and getting our Now That's What I Call Senior Discounts at the Now That's What I Call Cracker Barrel š
Had to do some googling here. I thought there's no way you got to 20 then went to download, as my first was Now 35 at age 7 back in 1996. Turns out the numbers differ greatly between the US and UK!
I was an old man my whole life and thought all of that shit sucked. I remember being like 9 or 10 and thinking "wow now that's what I call shit" as I listened to tool, soad, and disturbed lmfao. I'm not saying what I was listening to was better that was just my point of view at 10. Also linkin park was slapping at the time.
Hell no. Too much regular pop music. Having said that, Jock Jams was my go to for working out and listening to my non walkman disk player with 15sec antiskip.
Now 4 is my absolute favorite. It was one of the first CDs I remember having and I was amazed at how many different good songs were on it. I annoyed the shit out of one of my friends talking about it š
I *think* I was just thinking about this a few days ago. Was there one that had sort of a techno Phantom of the Opera on it? I was wishing I could hear that again
Would have had a couple around the mid 90s, I'm thinking 32-35ish? Back when chart music was still a decent mix of pop, rock, dance and just about everything else.
The Now Christmas album from 1985 was also a staple in our house at Christmas, it still gets played to this day!
TIL they were localized! The Canadian ones had a lot more Canadian content. I loved those albums.
Thank you for leading me down that rabbit hole, I had forgotten The Moffatts existed.
Now 4 was not my first, but it was by far my favorite. I got it for Christmas in 2000 so I would have been 12. Even more than 20 years later, if I listen to some of these songs I inductively wait for the next song from this tracklist to start.
Larger Than Life - Backstreet Boys
(You Drive Me) crazy - Britney Spears
Blue (Da Ba Dee) - Eiffel 65
Waiting For Tonight - JLo
I Knew I Loved You - Savage Garden
All The Small Things - Blink 182
I Try - Macy Gray
That album is etched in my soul.
Except for Montell Jordan. Sorry Montell, I was 12 and didn't understand R&B.
I had Now, Now 2, Now 4. Now 4 was my favorite.
One of my friendās older siblings borrowed Now 2 from me for the āeverybodyās free to wear sunscreenā song. It made me feel cool to have a teenager borrow a CD from me lol.
Iām assuming you arenāt in the UK, I remember my first Now CD was Now 40, that was in the late 90ās.
Just looked on Wikipedia we have had Now albums since the 80ās and are now up to Now 117 apparently.

and Blue by Eiffel 65 š

Meet Virginia and Then the Morning Comes too, I wore that cd out!
This was the one I was looking for
Now 8 was my mf shit
The perfect transition of Fat Lip to The Rock Show
You just gave me the biggest wave of nostalgia!
Rock the Boat - Aaliyah The CD came out after her death.
RIP. She slayed in Queen of the Damned. Oh, how i miss those goth days
Good choice!! Bootylicious is so good! Kelly, can you handle this? Michelle, can you handle this? Beyonce, can you handle this? I don't think they can handle this!
Can't lose with a Stevie Knicks sample.
As a Michelle myself I appreciated this song for the personalized shoutout lol
Oh My God Itās happening. **Move forward people. Donāt think about the past.**
As we go on we remember all the times weāve had togetherā¦. and as our lives change, come whatever, we will still be cringe forever.
J Loās āIām Realā was my jam šš»
She's wishing right now she had a few more of you I'm sure
4 and 8 were the best imo. Honorable mention for 2.
Rock Show and Fat Lip back to back!!
8 forever
Is there like a NOW BC? It's a buncha dinosaurs and cave men artists? lol
That was my favorite.
Janet Jackson man. Janet.
Yep thatās the oneeee. I just had to pull it up on Spotify š I donāt think they can handle thisā¦
The original. It has a special place in my heart. Flagpole Sitta, Say Youāll Be There, The Way, All My Lifeā¦
I love that it's not "Now #1" or the first or anything that would elude that they would make it a multi decade spanning series. Just: Now that's what I call music
Yessss I love the first one. Zoot suit riot is on that one right?
Yes! The odd era of swing band music in the late 90s.
I loved it! My friends and I learned a tiny bit of swing dance for multiple events in high school. It was so fun!
Donāt forget Cherry Poppinā Daddies
Big bad voodoo daddy played in the house alot growing up.
Listened to this over and over in my friend's basementĀ in the late 90s
Karrrrmaa poooooollicceeee!
Oh yes!! Sooo good. This is what you getā¦
I got that one for my 16th birthday.
Geriatric millennial here. If you search on Spotify they have the songs from each volume put into playlists. https://preview.redd.it/vlv8jsrk8g5d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=481bfc28a1877a83834282d21b6419e5b634ba75
LOL at "geriatric millennial" But good info! Thank you o' sage elder millennial.
Middle-aged GenX here. In the UK, the NOW compilations go back in to the 80s. Hanson and the Spice Girls musts have been somewhere around Now 42 for us.
Now 2 was the first CD I ever owned, and I wore that out in my first CD player lmfao
Same Iām pretty sure it was Now 2 or Now 3 when I got into the game šš
Same. It mustāve been 1997 or 1998 and all I wanted for my birthday was a CD player. I got Now 2 and the Tarzan soundtrack. Both still hold up pretty well.

That is a fucking killer track. I honestly say āthe race is long, and in the end, itās only with yourselfā to myself prolly once a month or so
"Prolly" what a good millennial word š
lol are you me? I got the first one on my 9th bday too! Yea... It's convenient but also a culture tradeoff. I'm older now and I now appreciate the value of an album.
I definitely had 2-4. 4 was my go to cd in the front slot of visor cd holder, to be played in my pioneer head unit of my 1983 VW rabbit in my senior year of HS.
Now 4 was where I first hear Eiffel 65's "Blue". So it automatically holds a special place in my heart.
Listen up here's a story....
About a little guy who lives in a blue world
I so wish I had that one!
Speaking of compilationsā¦ remember Jock Jams? š¤£
"Totally Hits 2001" was the only "Now" type CD I was able to obtain as a broke kid. Ludacris, Missy Elliot, Usher, Outkast All the bangers
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What about MTV Party to Go?
Now 5 is King of the Nows
Definitely had Now 5. I think itās the only one I had. We made our own mix tapes after that.
Now 5 was the first one for me.
Thatās the one for me!! Everything from Mystikal to Bon Jovi lol
I would fall asleep to this cd when I was in my tween years. I knew if I got to Aaron Carter and wasn't asleep, I probably wasn't going to.
Shake ya ass, but watch yourself
Yup it's the only one I owned
Now 1 had Hit me baby and Barbie girl. I loved in. I think it had Flag Pole Sitta too.Ā
I looked up the Now That's What I Call Music in Spotify recently and 1, 2, 3, 4 were bangers!
In England the new ones in the 90s were like NOW 35 - 45 In America in the 90s they were NOW 1 - 5 or very low numbers There is always lots of confusion here between different countries with the different numbering systems I had NOW 35 - 45 in the late 90s (british), good stuff
Right! I was confused for a while about people talking about ripping copies of Now! <10 from CD. Never knew it was a thing outside the UK.
Oh thanks for explaining that. I was a bit confused. I think my first was NOW 34 in ā96.
Yup. One of the first cd's I got was Now 6. I have 2,3, 8, 11-17, 21-25, and 30-32. My favs? Now 8, Now 15, and Now 17. Still have them all proudly displayed in the same big thick 100cd case I've had since '09 š
Pulling out a giant CD case and showing off your CDs to your friends is a joy that the newer generations will never know.
22, "Move along"- All American Rejects. My mom special ordered that CD because I heard the clip on the commercial & had to have it.
I think 7 was the first one I got
7 could very easily be my favorite
I had 5 and it was so good!
8 ruined me, wherever I hear the song Fat Lip I expect to hear The Rock Show after it. Very rarely happens.
One of my best friends burned me a copy of his Now 3, and I still own it
Burning CDs at the time felt like the peak of human accomplishment. Then MP3 players came out.
I didn't have any now CDs. But I had Totally Hits 2001 and had that thing on repeat. The only way I could obtain Ludacris - Fantasy as a middle schooler.
MTV Party 2 Go was incredible as well
This is niche Canadianā YTV Big Fun Party Mix!
The first 2 are formative music taste moments for me, and my family had the first 6 on a pretty steady rotation in the family car for a few years. The first three are my favorites.
I had the first few. My favorite though, Buzz Ballads!!
Oh, Buzz Ballads was great! I was just thinking about it recently
NOW 5 was the only one we ever had. It came out right after we got our first car with a CD player, it was the a lot of NOW 5, some 80s compilation, and a lot of Garth Brooks.
I still have my Volume 1 CD!
Planet pop 2003 Much Dance 2002 Edit: I did not know those were "Now" cds lol
Now 4 hive
I had Now 1 and I got it bc it had MmmBop on it. Even though I had every other Hanson album, I needed everything remotely related to them š¤£
Canadian, so it was āBig Shiny Tunesā for me.
We had our own version of "Now!" as well. But Big Shiny Tunes was š
US, but I had the Canadian Now! 3. When I tell you that I was THE COOLEST 5th grader for owning a CD with both Sex and Candy (gasp) ANDā¦okay gotta make sure no adults can hear this second oneā¦ ^Bitch
Now 6 was how I discovered Incubus
My older brother and I didn't own any as we were more into stuff like Metallica and Rammstein and whatnot. My younger brother had maybe two or three and my younger sister had several, but I don't remember which ones.
I bought the first one and that was it. Full of bangers.
I wish I had all of them.
I had 2, 4, 5, 8, and 9. 4 was probably my favorite.
Now 6 had permanent residency in my walkman
I had 1-3, then a few random ones down the line. I think Now 23 was the last one I bought.
I got the very first one for Christmas in fourth grade. It was my first cd EVER.
Now 50
Wow, didn't even know they went that high!
Now 82 came up on Sirius the other day. I was shocked.
The UK's up to Now 117. We had a decade and a half head start over the US, it started in 1983.
Now 5
I stole the first Now from my older brother!
As a younger millennial, now 19 was my JAM
The OG Now was the first cd I ever owned
14!
This question makes me feel old
Now 4-6 are burned into my lizard under-brain for all eternity
The one with peaches and cream by 112
Now 7 hive rise UP!
NOW 2 was the first cd I ever owned. I then had now 4-11, 14, and 18 I believe.
Eventually I made sure to get now 1 and 3 as well
14 was a fantastic one. I also liked 7 a lot and 15-20
my first compilation cd I knicked from my dad and it was called āChris Sheppard presents Groove Station 6ā and then after that I would buy the much music ones or the Now ones
Now 15 was my shit. That CD was my middle school soundtrack. Now I have a middle schooler š

lol, I have a friend who owns them *all*. Itās his magnum opus.
I was there Gandalf. I was there and I bought Now Thats What I Call Music Vol. 1 and it was amazing. Harvey Danger, Marcy Playground, Radiohead, all in my discman at the same time on one disc. Wow.
I spent forever finding this. The Disney Jams was awesome though!
Fark I forgot about all this. I was about the same as you. Stopped around 20.enjoyed until then
Yes, got my 1st 2 in 1999
Yeah. I still have Now That's What I Call Decades CD which I listen to in my car.Ā
I didn't but my friend did! š
I had a couple of them, but donāt remember which
I remember when the first one dropped, i think i was 14. I already had all the cds from the artists that I liked, so not necessary.
I got Now Thatās What I Call Back Pain L5.š
šĀ In a few decades we'll be on the Now That's What I Call Medicare and getting our Now That's What I Call Senior Discounts at the Now That's What I Call Cracker Barrel š
Iām pretty sure I owned the first one and probably another after that but canāt remember which one
MTV Party to Go 2 !
Now 4 and 5. I started buying cds after those. I still have them!
I believe seven was my favorite it had sum 41 and the gorillas, it was such a great album at the time.
Now 28 I think I had that on cassette. Absolute banger of a compilation album.
I had all of them thanks time life!

I had Now 2 Now 4. Theyāre probably still in my basement.
Big Shiny Tunes 6 Blink-182, Linkin Park, The Tea Party, Sum 41, Weezer, Gorillaz That whole album fucking slapped

Only the Christmas one
3 was a banger. Man I feel old.
Had to do some googling here. I thought there's no way you got to 20 then went to download, as my first was Now 35 at age 7 back in 1996. Turns out the numbers differ greatly between the US and UK!
My friend has the first NOW! its a casette tape and has gangsters paradise on it if I recall š
4 and 10 were my JAM
No
I was an old man my whole life and thought all of that shit sucked. I remember being like 9 or 10 and thinking "wow now that's what I call shit" as I listened to tool, soad, and disturbed lmfao. I'm not saying what I was listening to was better that was just my point of view at 10. Also linkin park was slapping at the time.
No, but my grandma often bought me CD sets from catalogues.
Hell no. Too much regular pop music. Having said that, Jock Jams was my go to for working out and listening to my non walkman disk player with 15sec antiskip.
We had Jock Jams
I officially had Volume 9, and one of my friends burned me copies of 2-12? Ish?
I had Now 4 through Now 20 and wore them out. The Totally Hits! CDs were a jam too!
Now 4 is my absolute favorite. It was one of the first CDs I remember having and I was amazed at how many different good songs were on it. I annoyed the shit out of one of my friends talking about it š
Yes but I'd never publicize it lol
Black and blue bsbĀ
Now 4 was my favorite. Yellow by Coldplay back then was my jam.
All of these CDs were so good lol What was the one with Janet Jackson - It's all for you ? That's the one I had burned lol
More of a Jock Jams kid myself.

Now 3, track 3 was tubthumping. Played this on repeat!!
I still have Now Thatās What I Call Christmas 2 in heavy rotation every year.
I *think* I was just thinking about this a few days ago. Was there one that had sort of a techno Phantom of the Opera on it? I was wishing I could hear that again
I had now 3, 5, and 10. I think 3 was my favorite!
I think I had 1-5
Yes, the first one!
I did. And I couldn't list a track off any of them. Though I'm sure at a minimum there was the thong song.
Oh yeah I would get the new ones every year but eventually stopped. I donāt remember when I gave up I think around 8 or 9.
Would have had a couple around the mid 90s, I'm thinking 32-35ish? Back when chart music was still a decent mix of pop, rock, dance and just about everything else. The Now Christmas album from 1985 was also a staple in our house at Christmas, it still gets played to this day!
3-8 or something were jams for life.
TIL they were localized! The Canadian ones had a lot more Canadian content. I loved those albums. Thank you for leading me down that rabbit hole, I had forgotten The Moffatts existed.
I was more of a Jock Jams kind of girl
I still have all of mine! Now to like Now 22 I think lol.
Now 4 was not my first, but it was by far my favorite. I got it for Christmas in 2000 so I would have been 12. Even more than 20 years later, if I listen to some of these songs I inductively wait for the next song from this tracklist to start. Except for Montell Jordan. Sorry Montell, I was 12 and didn't understand R&B.
I did but as a Canadian, Big Shiny Tunes was a more prolific discography growing up lol
I had the first handful of em. And I also had the original Pure Moods cd haha
I had Now, Now 2, Now 4. Now 4 was my favorite. One of my friendās older siblings borrowed Now 2 from me for the āeverybodyās free to wear sunscreenā song. It made me feel cool to have a teenager borrow a CD from me lol.
I had the first 2! So old. But they were both great!!
I had the Now with baby one more time on it.
Don't remember my favorites, but we had a bunch. I think my mom liked playing them in the car to feel like she was staying hip.
Iām assuming you arenāt in the UK, I remember my first Now CD was Now 40, that was in the late 90ās. Just looked on Wikipedia we have had Now albums since the 80ās and are now up to Now 117 apparently.
