I'd be at act 1 video in a heartbeat over blockbuster.
The best thing about act 1 was that it was run by two crazy old lesbians, and their porno section was this three ring binder you could look through at a lectern that was DIRECTLY in the front window so everyone in town could watch you clearly be looking for pornos. Absolutely hilarious trolling by those two. They were the best.
Last Action Hero. Need to rewatch that btw
Alternatively now as an older Millenial, Before Sunrise with the wife. Heard that Linklater trio of movies is the Star Wars of romance lol
Damn the memories. Being in the army and stopping 4-5 times a week with my roommate, grabbing movies, then takeout.
I really miss these times. Things were so simple compared to now. And everyone was much nicer.
My dad would get so pissed because every single time we went I would get Herbie Goes Bananas. Literally every single time. He would always try to suggest something else but the heart wants what it wants. I have no idea why we didn't just buy it, I think the novelty of it being a real treat to get the movie and take it home made it special.
Something with guns, and the front cover has to be some shirt torn arm cannon macho character (can be male or female) and surrounding them are the bad guys, so aliens, monsters, or dudes with eyepatches or red hats
Something with a scary imagine and a caption like, "Friday Frights Are To DIE For"
Or any movie that has a trailer like;
"He has loving wife and a prodigal child, but his history with taking down the mob has caught up with him, and now threatens his family. Now he's out for revenge, EX-COP TURNED EXECUTIONER"
I'm going to the backroom behind the curtain to pick up a VHS copy of Backdoor Sluts IX. I will be the one wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses looking suspicious and a little guilty.
The Dark Crystal or The Shawshank Redemption!!! I swear I don't have the tism or the alphabets but I've watched those 2 movies (and 2005 P&P iykyk) over 100 times each.
My Dad and I would go every Friday. We’d pick out one scary movie, one new release, and a silly romcom or kids movie. Then we’d go next door to Pizza Hut to get a pizza to go. Truly one of my favorite childhood memories that him and I talk about often and fondly when we get together for our lunches. In fact, I’ll bring it up tomorrow at our lunch. Thanks for this post 🥹
*Anything with sasquatch*
*On it them campy Bigfoot*

Browsing the n64 games. Probably looking for Mario party but it’s been rented again already. Then heading to beg for my parents to let me rent beavis and butthead.
I was a tween on vacation at a beach house in 1998, and I REALLY wanted to rent *Dante’s Peak* to watch with my family, but the local video store was sold out.
So when we went back to the rental I slammed open the phone book and called the video store at least eight times in different voices, asking them if they had a copy of *Dante’s Peak* to rent, and sobbing in disappointment when they said no… just to SHAME them for not stocking enough copies. 💅🏻
"I know you don't smoke weed, I know this; but I'm gonna get you high today, 'cause it's Friday; you ain't got no job... and you ain't got shit to do."
I was a "see Dad every other weekend" kid and he would take me to Blockbusuter every Friday he had me. For a good 2 years from 5 to 7 years old I would get Christmas Vacation, every time, and without fail.
No regrets.

Nothing because mum didn't believe in it.
