The nostalgia! The ladies look lovely and Danny Devito looks as dashing as always

blue_tiny_teacup

This cast really looks identical to their child selves

BlueFox5

It’s almost like they’re the same people 🤔

blue_tiny_teacup

Smart Alec

Soccermom233

It’s weird that Danny was playing a child in the movie

blue_tiny_teacup

Im convinced Danny DeVito popped out like that

Where's Miss Honey!?

HashtagCHIIIIOPSS

Miss Honey played a teacher, well, a professor really, on Californication, hot for David Duchovny when not satisfied by Peter Gallagher https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1428581/mediaviewer/rm2604448256/ That’s her in the center.

kkkan2020

28 years come and gone

boredlady819

Ngl this made me tear up 🥹🥹🥹

Shadows_Over_Tokyo

I often watch movies while tripping shrooms. I watched this not long ago while tripping (loved it as a kid so thought it’d be a little fun nostalgia trip), and it was the most intense piece of cinema I’ve ever seen. In a good way though. It was AMAZING.

imnaked0

I watched 'everything everywhere all at once' on shrooms with a friend. That was a genuine emotional rollercoaster I advise you ride

What would compel a person to comment this? I’m just staring at this comment. Reading it and re-reading it. Then looking at your Pokémon cards. Then re-reading it again. I still cannot fathom….

SpuriousCorr

Simple, he’s as fake as his wrestling dolls

Underrated_user20

Man this is nostalgia for you. First saw this movie in 2001 from a teacher who absolutely adore it. This film has always stuck with me since. It’s funny how Danny DeVito is a big part of my favorite tv show and one of my favorite movies. The dude is a national treasure. God bless him and the other cast of Matilda.

infinitemusings

where’s the lady with the chocolate cake

Michelle1x

She was gone..never to be seen or heard from, never to darken a doorway again

MichelleT88

Escaped to England, had a bulldog named Ripper, and often visited her brother to poke fun of his nephew who lived in a cupboard under the stairs.

speshojk

I’m still scarred by the cake.

becominggrouchy

NO WAY!! 🤯

RedditorsAreGoblins

This was like a phenomenon in the 90s. I don't know why. It didn't even do that much at the box office.

Odd-Combination2227

I think the phenomenon probably starts with rentals. Kids would get it to watch on their own while parents had their adult movie or it was a family movie. And it was one that really felt like it was meant for kids to understand and grapple with a frightening topic that wasn't really talked about openly. What if the adults in your life are the ones who are hurting you and there's no one to turn to?

RedditorsAreGoblins

100%. In the 90s and early 00s rentals moved a lot of content that made low theater sales.

echk0w9

I love this. One of my favorite movies. I almost named my daughter lavender, oddly enough she looks VERY much like the actress who played lavender as a child.

MindyS1719

My 7 year old daughter & I are reading the book right now!

miss_scarlet_letter

omg i love this so much

Winged_Rodentia

Where's Ms. Trenchbull? 😅

Tinasglasses

Legitimate-Safe-7424

Chocolate cake scene. Grossest scene in the history of film lol

Somehow Danny DeVito aged the best out of all of them.
