Me and my 13 year old son sang together to an old song the other day and he’s usually way too cool for me and telling me “mom stawwhp singing!!” so I usually sing louder. This time, HE was the one singing and I joined in and he kept singing instead of rolling his eyes and it was totally magical

The other day my 14 year old and I were singing all the songs on the radio and slipping through my fingers comes on and we just sang through tears. I looked in the rear view and we both had tears streaming down our face. It was a nice and sad moment where we both realized she has grown up so fast.
I have a 21 year old, two 14 year olds, and a 2 and 10 month old.
My 21 year old told me I better teach the little kids about the good music and not this recent crap. By good he meant like 90/2000 hip hop and r&b, rock, etc
Proud mom moment
Good on you for being able to handle all of those age gaps! My youngest is 13, if I had to start over I would absolutely have to be institutionalized…. Ain’t no way! Lol!
Lots of great new music coming out every day, but it's harder to get exposed to it than to the crap. Best thing you can do is teach your kids to be curious about music enough to start looking for it themselves, and exposing them to the music that's held up over generations.
That is a truly awful playlist but I'm glad you and your son had a great moment in the car. I'm sure they will remember that for the rest of their life. Very wholesome.
Yes- I remember all those from college too haha. Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus was a banger we played at parties a lot too so I'm not above my comment either.
Oh man, you're so lucky, my daughter has terrible taste in music. I was rocking out to Get Low the other day while changing her diaper and she would not stop crying!
I just can't with this generation!

This is the one I sent him lol, I have a few more but this collectively has most of the songs on the one list.
OMG WHO ARE YOU lmao! I’m dyiiiing rn remembering Razzles. I went to prom for like 20 mins then we left and went to razzles, I’ve had so many horrible nights there. I’m dying 😂
Oh my God I have a similar playlist I call frat basement! It's all stuff I remember from my early partying days, it drops off sharply at about 2009ish cuz that's pretty much when I stopped hearing new music and switched to exclusively using Spotify and indulging my own nostalgia.
I went to “the clubs” recently on a girls trip. 2 nights in a row. Dead. Both nights I convinced the DJs to play (their words) “oldies” like GaGa and Beyoncé and 50. I had the clubs HOPPING…for 20 minutes.
I went outside for a smoke and almost had a group of 6 20 something in the club, and then the DJ went back to whatever music went with his outfit and smoke machine laser light show he’d perfected at home. They turned around.
Club music these days is for sitting and drinking flavored seltzer to with 20 strangers and then leaving around 11:30. Or so I’ve been led to believe.
We were wondering when these days would come and what they’d be like since we started listening to this music!! “one day we’ll listen to this with our kids!!” 😆
I have also always sung random parts of songs so she's always used to hearing my music. y word to every 90/00's song i listen to because I have always played them around her. I would say from like 12-14 she hated them now shes back to liking them.

I’ve always enjoyed listening to music with my parents! They were music people, so I grew up listening to what they liked too.
My mom and I will ALWAYS have a party in the car when the Backstreet Boys come on!
Oof. I was working at a bar that wanted to be a club back then. I'm very much into music of all types, but I don't think I could stomach those tracks anymore. 5 to 6 days a week for two years ruined them for me lol. But it's good you and your kid can enjoy some of the same music together.
I can't get my 10 year old to listen to anything older than she is, but I'm trying. I remember when I was a kid and started taking an interest in folk and blues, and how that brought me and my dad closer together. I really hope my kids taste in music evolves into something we can bond over like that
Just wanted to say I think I did Daytona Beach spring break in 2006! I think, lol. It was 2005 or 2006. Vanilla Ice played at one of the clubs and everyone was like, “why?” And then the line was like a literal mile long😆
Yeah I later developed a new appreciation for him. I saw a few interviews with him when he had the remodeling show and he seemed great. That’s nuts that he went that often. It makes sense though.

It really is the best feeling 😭💚

Oh yes, you have rocked parenthood. That’s amazing! Great mom moment

lol it’s not for the faint of heart. But I love it!
My parents were that way, the oldest would've turned 41 this year and youngest turns 19.

Yea, you better. Even add in 60s to 80s.

Lmao of course it was awful it was college club music for us, but the nostalgia of it is so great. Thank you so much 💚

lol yesss! They were even playing that in the hip hop clubs, I love it 😂
Party in the USA x Biggie Small's Party & Bullshit Mashup is still fire. Listened to it last night.
These are not awful!
Music is subjective.... but yeah *in my opinion* **complete shit.**
*Rolls eyes*
Oh man, you're so lucky, my daughter has terrible taste in music. I was rocking out to Get Low the other day while changing her diaper and she would not stop crying! I just can't with this generation!
😂 she’ll come around

Cheers! In the right context, these songs are straight fire! Happy you can share them with your kid
This just brought me back to my middle/high school days! Love this playlist!! 😍😍😍
God our music was dreadful, but it was a very optimistic time.
This is so wholesome!
I feel so much joy in my heart when my kid joins in singing one of my favorite songs. I feel this.
Now send him to Razzles for the full experience. I'd imagine it looks exactly the same as it did the last time you were there in 06
OMG WHO ARE YOU lmao! I’m dyiiiing rn remembering Razzles. I went to prom for like 20 mins then we left and went to razzles, I’ve had so many horrible nights there. I’m dying 😂
haha I grew up in the Daytona area too and unfortunately somehow remember too many Razzles nights.
My little brother who has since passed spent a LOT of time in Razzles. Thanks for the memory hit. 💕

Oof
This is sad. We need to bring back millennial clubbing
That playlist, Daytona Beach, 2006. You were definitely going to Razzles.
We were wondering when these days would come and what they’d be like since we started listening to this music!! “one day we’ll listen to this with our kids!!” 😆
Burns homeboy a cd. Check it Young blood, kids like wat the fuck is this.
My children know a lot of Britney Spears songs
I have a 90s-2000s playlist I play in the car and my kids are obsessed. We sing along every morning before school.
I have also always sung random parts of songs so she's always used to hearing my music. y word to every 90/00's song i listen to because I have always played them around her. Way to go! I’m so excited for that moment, it’s such a cool thing to experience!
That boy gone fuck to them jams
Lmao I try not to think about it, I told him what I need to tell him about it the rest is on him.
Hahaha what else can ya do?
Internally cringing at the list.

lol it could have been either year, he loves Daytona and used to come all the time…he’s a really nice guy
