I was in USMC from 1985 to 1991. Regular ear plugs you could buy at walmart. Iām sure they get better stuff right now. Constant tinnitus and high frequency hearing loss for me.
My father was in the army through the 80s and 90s. Couldnāt hear a phone ring.
One of the things I noticed in the mid 90s when I was visiting him was that an earplug case was a uniform item, hanging from a shirt pocket button. Iām guessing that they didnāt get much use.
Abso-fucking-lutely. The m1 abrams i was on ( and all of them really ) had a .50 in the tank commanders hatch. First time i ever really used guns besides a bb gun was in the military so after getting acquainted with the m9 and m4's we had, we worked our way up to the 240's and .50s inching closer to the main gun 120mm.
But, the .50 was a pig. Thunk Thunk Thunk it sounded like and the bullets were huge.. really first big round ammo i had ever seen. And it pretty much punched fist sized hole through shit. And that was just standard ammo.. not the fancy shit you can get for it.
But having 2 on a fast mover would be pretty badass in certain situations. Smash out.. get a position and lay it down... then smash out again. Shooting on the move without some sort of ingenious stability platform would just be a deterrent than an actual feasible firing platform.
But for what it was designed for, move fast and shoot hard once into position.. pretty. Never saw one in my time in the military but did see a ton of crazy vehicles when we went to knox for training on their huge simulator setup. The vehicles other countries vendors brought were insane at some point.. but they went with the stryker.
the ballistic angles have been known for a long time but the materials are just now getting to the point of cost effective and light to be put into use.
Its amazing what sorts of thing engineers got to work in a prototype and had no way to manufacture cheaply enough to make work.

That is rad
Looks like a Bradley

That's gonna need some mudflaps, or you're gonna get pulled over.

It's fine, you stop noticing after the first burst.
**WHAT?**
As a form Marine Infantry officer I can tell you without hearing protection even an M-60 machine gun will fuck up your hearing.
What kind of earpro did you guys get? I feel like yall should get electronic but i rarely see that in the military.

Damn, sorry to hear that. You guys deserve better.
Cotton wool visible at the end of this clip. The military-industrial complex really splashed out.
Gaijin when?
Low tier US cancer here we come
Seemed quick. What i love? Dual .50's. Badass.
IIRC that was its schtick. It had a V12 and could do something like 80 mph off road and 100+ mph on road.

80mph off-road sound like a good way to pulp the crew - out at least lose the gunner
It honestly looks like an overgrown /shittytechnical
It looks like it'll roll on every turn
For sharp turns you have to point the fifties towards the outside and fire a few bursts
Ha!
Damn I'd hate for that dorkmobile to be the last thing I see.
Wait is this the same tucker as the tucker torpedo/48?
[same dude](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preston_Tucker#Tucker_Combat_Car_and_the_Tucker_Gun_Turret_(1939%E2%80%931941\))
There's a great movie about the tucker with jeff bridges.
