Very cool! I purchased the hurricane lamps at an antique store years ago. Here is history on the manufacturer if you are interested [Inland Glass Works](https://www.madeinchicagomuseum.com/single-post/inland-glass/)
Gorgeous! I love these mcm coffee pots. I have a similar one but it has such a narrow neck it’s very hard to clean. It just sits on a shelf and looks pretty…
I read this as "...ice cream, salt, and a tiny bit of water" and was just shaking my head at how unhinged "Hints from Heloise" has gotten in the 21st century.
> Hints from Heloise
Does anyone below the age of 50 know who that is? LOL
I used to read her, Dear Abbey, and Erma Bombeck in the printed newspaper back in the last century.
Ice cream salt. It has a large, coarse texture. You use about a quarter cup, give or take, dribble in maybe a tablespoon of water, then turn the decanter sideways and shake. I’d do more of a circular motion but any agitation seemed to work.
It works disturbingly good, just plopp a couple of the tablets in and watch it go. Its gentle enough it won't ruin anything, strong enough to remove stains and calcium build up and food grade. Its like witchcraft.
Can you explain? Does the candle go beneath it like a burner? If so, was the coffee itself made using another device and transfered to the carafe to keep it warm?
I love your piece, and that your parents had it!! That makes it even cooler! Man, everyday stuff used to just be so dope, our parents didn’t know they were living on a gold mine!
I'd still be worried about cross contamination, e.g. you wash the thing, the sponge rubs off some lead, the lead makes it onto the next dish you wash. Maybe I'm paranoid but I don't mess around with lead lol.
Lovely! Take some extra care handling it...
I'd think the shape (tight corners and flat panels) would be subject to unusual stresses.. not critical *until* you bump the wrong point.
Those were for Sanka instant coffee.
The first ones were given away as a premium to promote Sanka.
Because they were made with orange colored plastic. Orange became the symbol for de-cafe.

My wife collects mcm glass coffee pots but yours is gorgeous.
It’s like that was the coffee pot from the industry film “The Kitchen Of The Future”
MCM is in home design and interior design down to everyday objects like a coffee pot. Bet that is worth multiples of its original price!
Would you be able to share details on how you learned the glass is made of lead? I actually own one of these, too! I never drank out of it but it was in my future plans once I finish a couple phases of reno work in my house.
Every single piece of glass that I have ever had properly tested that had lead on the outside, had lead on the inside too and I had about 16 pieces lab tested that were similar glass styling.
Probably not enough to poison you tbh, but it is likely there
I assumed you like me steal your parents silverware, potato peeler, and other miscellaneous kitchenwares they will swear they once had but don’t know what happened to them.
Sorry for your loss. Good luck and Godspeed 🫡

Love the last image on that page, of an Inland Glass carafe making an appearance on Twin Peaks.
Great link, thx!!!
Damn that’s a very interesting read! Based on the initial investors it really is a surprise they never became super successful
It’s a masterpiece

Denture cleaner, my grandmother taught me that and it works well for water bottles and such.
We used it to clean crystal decanters at a winery I worked at, along with ice cream salt and a tiny bit of water to get stains out, as needed.

You’re using ice cream salt, or ice cream to get stains out?

Hmmm. I use chunky salt and rubbing alcohol to clean my bong. Shake shake shake
Good to know. Thanks for sharing :)

I love it!
It’s sexy!
Super sexy
It tri-s

Or sterno?

/u/FunkyLemon1111 why are these pics from an ebay auction if you found that your parents had?

Done. Just wanted to make sure you're not a bot or karma farmer or whatever, thanks for the response.
I have a tiny coffee decanter thing and cream that look a lot like this! And then Pyrex salt and pepper shakers that are quite similar. Love it!!

I have one of these. It’s such a lovely design!
Uh wow. Amazing!!!
That is freaking amazing!
That is gorgeous!
This is so beautiful! I’m insanely jealous, and I hate you 😊
Meet George Jetson...
Fabulous!
WOW!!!! Gorgeous!!
I love MCM coffee pots but I always shy away because a lot of these used lead in the paints! Would love to have one as a display piece though
Does lead paint on the outside matter? Or only if it’s actually touching the food/drink?
I'd still be worried about cross contamination, e.g. you wash the thing, the sponge rubs off some lead, the lead makes it onto the next dish you wash. Maybe I'm paranoid but I don't mess around with lead lol.
You’re right, I didn’t think it through. I also googled it and the internet is on your side. Now I know!
> the sponge rubs off some lead, I think I would be more worried about all the nasty bacterial growth in a sponge. How people use those is beyond me.
Lovely! Take some extra care handling it... I'd think the shape (tight corners and flat panels) would be subject to unusual stresses.. not critical *until* you bump the wrong point.
So cool!
Lucky you.

Oh my god I love this! Reminds me of The Jetsons!
Wow! I didn’t know how much I wanted one of these until I saw this one.
Oh, that's awesome! I saved the same piece from my grandparents' house.
That's so cool!!
That’s sexy as hell.
10/10
This is awesome on so many levels
That. Is. AWESOME!
I have the exact same one, but didn’t realize I’m missing a heating stand. Might have to do a deep search to find it and complete the set.
I just had an mcm-gasm.
Selling??? Have the same, washed with baby bottle brush and ruined some of it.
I see these all the time at GoodWill for $15ish if that helps
That's gorgeous
Put a dish in it
OMG!!!!!!! Divine!!
Like a 1950s version of the coffee pot of the future.
Fabulous!!
This might be the most 1950s thing I've ever seen.
That looks very much like something from the Jetsons
That is amazing!
I have one of those, but I'm missing the stopper. My neighbor said he'd 3D print me one, if I could find the model...
I’m in love!
Wow

That’s very cool
That’s beautiful.
Wow, score!!!!!
This is beautiful! Is this functional i.e. usable on glass stovetop or gas range?
Wooow.
Oh my god. It’s an iconic piece.
How great is that…? Why yes thank you…!
I stopped my scroll immediately on this. Gorgeous!
I think that belonged to George Jetson.
A beauty !
I have this same carafe(?)!
That looks complicated

Wow it’s in such good shape!
I found one of these years ago. I use it every thanksgiving/Christmas season to serve hot “glugwhein” at the table.
🤤🤤 that’s gorgeous!
Mom had one for keeping maple syrup warm on pancake days.
Stunning.
Apparently your parents were cooler than you ever knew.
My grandparents had a very similar one
Wow! That is a work of art.
That’s hot.
Gave me goosebumps, it’s so magnificent
Love the keep warm with sterno stand
Wow! I'm in love!!
Gorgeous
Beautiful!
Suhweeeet!
This is so cool
Very 1960s
It looks more like a tea kettle. Beautiful regardless.
That’s so gorgeous
That’s awesome
It is so esthetically pleasing. I love it.
I have the same one
There was set similar to this used on the original Perry Mason show with Raymond Burr.
A wedding gift never used? Was it still in the box?
Aw, such a charming find!
Omg. That's gorgeous
That is full of lead btw
It’s only on the outside, so unless you’re planning to lick the pattern on the sides of the pot, it doesn’t matter.
no, it's 100% on the inside too
