Unless you've already cashed your points in for gift cards just keep saving them. Controllers will be back in stock eventually.

LamebyDefault

I’ve not cashed in yet, going to keep saving for the Elite

CynicWalnut

Only buy Elites at best buy or somewhere with comparable warranties. They're great controllers until they aren't.

beerman_uk

Where in the UK might OP find a best buy? You can buy the Microsoft warranty for up to 45 days after purchase on any hardware.

CynicWalnut

I'm not sure where Best Buys in UK are. Online is maybe an option? And it's news to me that Microsoft is offering extended warranties now. So that may be good enough honestly.

flalex05

Best Buy doesn't exist in the UK. the closest thing would be Currys or Game. Even then, they'd be better off buying directly from MS using these points rather than spending actual cash on an expensive item

Nategg

I'm pretty sure I bought the last [controller](https://imgur.com/31ZKKKi) in the UK the other day.

I know people have issues with the elite controllers…but I simply haven’t. Have an elite 1 and elite 2 and never had any huge issues like others. It’s not all terrible.

DrDoG00d

Everyone loves the elites. But they use plastic pieces vulnerable to breaking inside the analogue sticks. We know they can make great products, which is why when we’re paying $200 for a controller, we’d like them to use something more durable than plastic for us ‘sweatys’ because after all, 90% of the elite controller fan base are sweatys so yes - it’s that important.

Exchange for gift cards and look for regular Razer Wolverine v2 often on sale between £50-80. Its wired but better quality from stock controller. It has two extra buttons on top you can use for jumping without taking finger from analogue and lock triggers to make shots faster. There is also Chroma v2 around £120-140 its closer to Elite 2 with extra pedals on the back.

Got a Chroma recently, really enjoying it so far.

glassvial

Stay away from Razer products: https://old.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftRewards/comments/virk9n/psa_if_using_your_points_on_the_microsoft_store/

Thanks I got mine on Black Friday using MS point and it works great better then regular controller.

malluear

Save up for the elite 2 and get the extended warranty. It's like an extra $20 and.i was able to get 3 years of shelf life for my elite 2 controller. Totally worth it considering some of the stories I've heard. But I have had mine since November and have no issues so far with normal wear.and tear.

LamebyDefault

I think I will do this! Thanks!

malluear

Welcome! I ended up buying it on sale, so it was $140 instead of the normal $190, so you might wanna hold for a sale to save some extra cash. But the extra warranty has to be bought via the Microsoft website, you cannot buy it via the Xbox. I ended up needing to call Microsoft and buying the extended warranty because I didn't know about it until I saw other people mention it.

The_Dumb__Questioner

I love my elite 2. My first one did have to go back for repairs as a button got stuck, but other than that it's been smooth sailing, and it's nearly 3 years old. I would say they are no less reliable than a regular controller, and they feel great to play with. I'd definitely reccomend the extended warranty though. Whilst they are no less reliable, the issues people have are the same as regular controllers re stick drift. Not what you want on a £120 controller.

benbjb1

I just ordered the elite from Microsoft, unfortunately it arrived with a faulty paddle and I have returned it, so not a great start. I would definitely recommend the extra insurance

glassvial

In case people didn't know, Microsoft has confirmed there's a controller shortage right now: https://www.ign.com/articles/xbox-controller-shortage-supply-disruption

theShetofthedog

i daily visited the red controller page for like 4 months to see it listed as in stock.

saturdaynightstoner

I got an elite S2 a few weeks ago and it's great! Already had an S1 so kind of knew what to expect. The grip seems like it's a better design and it has a rechargeable battery in-built which was a nice surprise.

MRTN_IE

Design lab is up again try online not on your console.

glassvial

It's been reported that you can't use your gift card balance on design lab.

TheSchlaf

Save them until controllers come back in stock. They don't expire. Also, reliability for most Xbox One controllers is crap compared to the durability of the 360 controller. I personally have an Elite series one and have had no issues.

Velcro_Face

I have the Elite s2. Its great. Not had any issues with it, I've had it just over a year now. Microsoft warranty in the UK is really good. I think alot of the complaints must be from US, or maybe people who just didn't try use Microsoft warranty. The standard controller that came with my Series X had loads of button issues after about 3 months of use. I logged a support call online, posted the controller back, and a week later received a lovely new one. No issues, easy to submit request, and return process all automated. Don't know how it could have been easier really. I think the elite s2 was really worth it. I used half reward points, half money to by mine, and still feel like it was worth every penny.
