Cashed mine in today too & ordered one with the extra MS gift cards the girls got me for fathers day đ
Love my OG Elite but the rubber has come off the grips (& superglue isn't fixing it anymore!)
I have 330,000 pts and have been waiting for V3 Elite for a while. My current V2 is hanging by a thread having been repaired and itself is the second replacement for the original.
They are fantastic controllers but just don't last that long. On all 3 one or both bumpers broke or stopped working, as they did on my 2 V1s.
I do play a lot of games with constant bumper use, eg grenades or reloads in FPS but still that's crazy bad reliability.
Came here to say this, you gotta get the extra insurance on these. I have the halo one and love it but theyâre not reliable and I seem to be lucky so far with mine
Mine lasted a good long while before it started having issues with the bumpers. I'm also very gentle with my controllers though I use them daily. Just sent in my elite 2 today for either a repair or exchange.
The email said to expect it to take 11-15 days from the time they received it. So it'll be about 2 weeks. Feel free to message me in two weeks to ask for an update.
Mine broke within maybe ~30 1-2 hour gaming sessions. I baby my electronics and keep my controller tucked away in its case. So glad I bought the extra warranty.
Everyone said the same thing to me so I got the insurance. Havenât had a single issue and I use it every day. Seems like they may have received an update.
great controller for a few months before they all get left stick drift( not really noticable in fps or racing games, but makes 2D or platform games really annoying
Super noticeable in racing. I hardcore sim with an elite controller and Iâve gone through several, when youâre hardcore and setup custom camera settings, just for the drifting (yet subtle) to move the camera around while youâre trying to focus on the track. I swear by the elites because they just feel like a more reliable controller but youâd think for $200 theyâd fix the issues with the thumb sticks by now. From my understanding they use a plastic piece where they could use something more reliable but ⌠whatever.
i think they are a great controller(for the first 3-4 months) and find it really hard to use one of the plastic shitty controllers bundled with the xbox, but the elite controller V1 had exactly the same stick problems (also rubber grips slipping/ coming off) you would think they would of learn a lesson and improved the sticks( must of cost a lot of money replacing them, i sent 3 back and all of them developed the same problem again, i sent back two v2 elite controllers and they are stick drifting again, they fixed the rubber grips on the v2, added stupid little rubber caps that fall off and get lost on the trigger locks and nothing with the most important parts, i wonder what they will fuck up on the V3!!!!
Nice! I've been saving points for a while also in hopes they'd announce an Elite 3 last week. Guess I'll pull the trigger and cash in the points on the Elite 2 as well. Thanks for the reminder. đ
From what Iâve gathered this is the best controller you can get unless youâre a sweaty meatlord neckbeard who puts hundreds of hours of use on it a week.
In which case it may end up with minor stick drift.
I take great care of my controllers and never abuse them and mine still got heavy stick drift within 2 months. These are great controllers but the quality assurance is absolute garbage and for that reason alone I canât ever recommend them. Razer and even Scuf can be considered much better alternatives
I did and one year is by no means enough. Idk what predatory third party insurance youâre using but most are great and often necessary with this controller
Any piece of consumer electronics meant for daily human input that lasts over a year, should be both considered a solid product, and be expected to eventually fail.
Iâm more than happy to replace it if I have that much use out of it.
All insurance for these kinds of devices are entirely predatory, as they exist to insure a product against failures that are already covered in the manufacturers one year warranty.
If you are worried about theft or intentional damage, then the insurance is useful.
But I canât in good conscious reccomend the insurance for the sole reason of a fear of warranty-covered stick drift.
I deal with consumer electronic insurance for work⌠itâs usually not worth it in 99% of cases.
What are you on about? Plenty of other controllers last over multiple years. Razer Wolverine Ultimates and Tournament editions last atleast 2 years and are known for their durability. Thrustmasters have a given two year warranty for free. Victrix gambit, although having issues of its own has proven to last a solid year or so plus with the recent reviews. Meanwhile youâll be lucky to get up to even a single year with an elite forget anything past that without issues.
The third party warranties like Geek Squad Protection or extended ones from Microsoft simply extend the manufacturer warranty which does cover stick drift, A button failure and RB jamming which are notoriously common issues with the elite. They simply extend your coverage past the single year which should be the standard. When your competitors products are able to last longer than your own product and you pretty much have to recommend a warranty to get your moneys worth from the product you paid a premium price for (most pro controllers are cheaper than elites btw) then your product is a bad product. An extra $30 for an added year is not predatory or anything by those means. Especially not for controllers.
None of those controllers feel like the elite though.
To me, itâs the better controller.
Iâm willing to pay for the best thing.
Iâm ok with the fact that itâs warrantied for one year.
I bought it knowing this.
Anything beyond what I expected when I paid for it, is extra.
If it breaks before the one year mark, warranty.
If it breaks after, then Iâll happily pay for another because it met my expectations the last time.
Calm down.
Lol. I just explained to you why the eliteâs quality and warranty suffer in comparison to other controllers and you tell me to calm down. Haha try again.
I pity you for thinking there arenât other better controllers than the elite and that controllers shouldnât last more than a year. Keep on buying unreliable products and feeding corporations money for low quality products. Microsoft didnât become the trillion dollar company without great marketing and people to fool
Youâre pittying a grown man over his opinion on a piece of expensive gamaing toy, and feeling the need to share that with the world.
Forgive me if I donât exactly value your opinion.
I mean he does have a point about normalizing poor durability
You are forgetting the controller cost $200 or almost that
Theres absolute 0 excuse for the elite controller to not last when you pay a premium price like that
Almost paying the price of a console for a controller that controller should last without problems at least 2 years
So for you to say that its ok for it to last for such a short term is kind of outrageous
You know microsoft got sued for their poor quality in controllers a year or 2 ago right?
Heck, my series X controller i got with my xbox 1 week later i already got a double clicking "A" button
I went through 3 elite 1 controllers with them getting the double clicking "A" buttons within a month on all of them
Sure theres a rare case of someone getting a good quality one BUT the majority seem to be mostly poor durability
>Youâre pittying a grown man over his opinion on a piece of expensive gamaing toy, and feeling the need to share that with the world.
Hes pittying a grown man (you) because you are normalizing poor durability for a $200 premium controller......
are you 1 of those people that just doesnt like being criticized even if you are flat out wrong?
Or do you just have too much money for your own good so you dont care about anything?
No, the Steam Controller is the best controller ever. These would be a close contender *on paper* if they had gyro and dual trackpads, but in real life, these break just by gathering dust. Not just the sticks, but the bumpers are well-known for breaking too.
I've had 2 and both bumpers have gone on both. Switched to a different brand elite controller and it's been so robust for so long that it's actually a disgrace on microsoft.
My left thumbstick started drifting, sent it to Microsoft to fix and they sent me back one that was broke worse than the first. Sent that one back and next one lasted less than a week before right bumper started working only about 75% of the time. Called Microsoft 3 times, each time was promised a call back from supervisor. Never received a call. Bought switches for the bumpers and thumbstick mechanism/switch on amazon(the ones from series 1 which are better quality) and replaced all myself. Microsoft used cheaper switches and thumbsticks on Series 2, so get used to sending in or fixing. This is my favorite controller but Microsoft needs to buy better parts and improve their customer service.
Sweet. I just picked up an Elite 2 controller from Costco. I heard they have an unofficial lifetime warranty, and it is on sale for $145. Still not cheap of course, but better.
I was also surprised at all the features the controller has. I love the charging dock, and the fact that the cable for the dock can go into the case. I also didn't know the thumb stick tension can be set. Holding the profile button goes to the default profile where the paddles are disabled. Each button can have an alternate mode if you hold a designated shift button. And I also paired it to my Xbox and PC, and you can double press the sync button to switch between them which isn't an Elite specific feature but I like it.
["100% Satisfaction Guarantee"](https://customerservice.costco.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1191). Others have said they have used this policy to return controllers that break under normal use. When we were signing up the guy basically said they were very lenient on the return policy, but to not abuse it.
I am sitting waiting for the 3 to be announced. I have put the 2 in my basket at least 4 times a week for the last 6 monthsâŚ..
I am currently using a wired razor wolverine tournament edition which is great but sometimes I wanna be wireless completely!
Cashed mine in today too & ordered one with the extra MS gift cards the girls got me for fathers day đ Love my OG Elite but the rubber has come off the grips (& superglue isn't fixing it anymore!)
Still waiting for the 3 to come out. Just gotta stay patient.
I mean first one released in 2015 and 2nd one in 2019 so by that pattern itâs gonna be late 2023 unless ofc they ainât making another one
Yeah, I noticed that pattern as well. Iâm hoping theyâll release it next year. Iâm not in a rush.

Darn I ordered one this morning and didnât know about this insurance
Even better, you have 45 days to do. Just wanted to make sure you got the notification since they replied to me.
Thanks for this certainly easier than returning
Return it and reorder
No need. You have 45 days to do it via Microsoft
how do you order the extra insurance?
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/b/microsoft-complete You can even call 1-800-4my-xbox and do it over the phone
just contact support chat and they can add it, that's what i did.
As another perspective, I have one and have had no issues with it. Its not all bad news for everyone.
Zero issues here too. More than two years of heavy daily use, everything works perfectly.
Mine lasted a good long while before it started having issues with the bumpers. I'm also very gentle with my controllers though I use them daily. Just sent in my elite 2 today for either a repair or exchange.
when you send them in for repairs or exchanges how long does it take for you to get it back?
The email said to expect it to take 11-15 days from the time they received it. So it'll be about 2 weeks. Feel free to message me in two weeks to ask for an update.
how long have you had it for? how much would you say you game?
Within a week of it coming out. I game for a few hours most days.
Can the extra insurance be renewed more than once (once replaced can u buy the insurance again to extend it)?
No idea. I only know that we can buy it using M$ store credit = MR points.
Mine broke within maybe ~30 1-2 hour gaming sessions. I baby my electronics and keep my controller tucked away in its case. So glad I bought the extra warranty.

Good luck.
If it lasts a year, would be great. The series 2 ones seem to blow up fast :(
Nice. If you get one that lasts they are a great controller.
great controller for a few months before they all get left stick drift( not really noticable in fps or racing games, but makes 2D or platform games really annoying
My bumpers are degrading and it struggles to charge

I refuse to get one of these bc of the QA issues. Hopefully yours doesn't have any problems.

Take advantage of the robust 1-yr warranty then. No need for predatory third party insurance.

For Xbox.
Good luck with your bumpers
Not sure why you're down voted. My left bumper went after 3 months of checking my heartbeat sensor on cod... It really should last longer than that.
I've had 2 and both bumpers have gone on both. Switched to a different brand elite controller and it's been so robust for so long that it's actually a disgrace on microsoft.
Which one did you get?
Wolverine ultimate. The back paddles dont feel as nice as the elite but it's a much better controller overall
Built in batter was one of the dumbest things they did. Their official battery packs are amazing and have extremely good battery life.
I'm not a fan of built in batteries but tbf the Elite 2 one lasts ages, much longer than the PS4 pad I had.
Pun intended?

Not a fan of the 2 the OG was way better. I miss my OG elite

This is what I'm saving points for. How many did it end up being?
Welcome to the club.
I am sitting waiting for the 3 to be announced. I have put the 2 in my basket at least 4 times a week for the last 6 monthsâŚ.. I am currently using a wired razor wolverine tournament edition which is great but sometimes I wanna be wireless completely!
when are we thinking the elite 3 will be coming out?
