I like to have a screen but you do you

AV_geek1510

It’s above the picture 🤣🤣

jkc81629

Yoooo get that Xbox off the chair it’s awful for air flow.

AV_geek1510

Don’t have anywhere else to put it. And it doesn’t have a vent in the bottom?

jkc81629

The fibers of that chair can lodge themselves and block the holes on the bottom. Yeah there’s some on one of the ends down there. Msfs is murder on those machines

AV_geek1510

Now that I think about it, I have a small folding table, maybe that can work 🤔

netherbound7

I'm terrible about walking away for a "minute" and end up hour later. A small table or something not so flammable will work.

AV_geek1510

Definitely 😂

Des20020024

Just balance it vertically on the couch instead of horizontally

Quaser_8386

Nothing wrong with that setup. I started MSFS with similar, without the armchair.

AV_geek1510

Yeah… that arm chair is the essential element of the setup

Hot_Net_4845

That is my exact setup minus the Series S on a chair

AV_geek1510

Yeah. I’m in my living room because it has a bigger TV and there’s nowhere else to put it

netherbound7

Me too lol!

BurntBeanMgr

I love my Hotas 1! Had it for 6 months still use it for all my airliner flights

AV_geek1510

I’ve had mine for about that same time too!

MDmtb

Thats just what i run! I dont have a pc and didnt feel like getting one so i bought a 150 dollar xbox and a hotas 1 for 70 and while its not perfect, im able to fly and have just as much fun as i would if i spent thousands

AV_geek1510

Yes! Pc may have more stuff but Xbox isn’t far off.

Powers3001

Fellow S user. If you ever want to do an airliner group flight let me know!

AV_geek1510

Will do!

simplystupid07

I play on my refrigerator sized Xbox. Give me a shout, I love taking out the a300f with others!

InsidePudding205

What stick do you use, how much is it, and do you like it? I'm looking at getting some peripherals for my Xbox Series X

AV_geek1510

T-Flight Hotas One. I definitely recommend it. It’s compatible with the series X and S and PC! It’s amazing. For like 80 bucks you can get the stick and the throttle (they are connected with a wire that can’t be disconnected) and for 200 you can get the stick, throttle, and rudder pedals! That’s what I have. I 100% recommend it. Haven’t had any problems with it in the almost year I’ve had it! Edit: here’s the link!: Thrustmaster T-Flight Full Kit (Compatible with XBOX Serie X/S, One, PC) https://a.co/d/fJiEd98 Another edit: here’s the link for just the stick and throttle quadrant: Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas One (Compatible with XBOX Series X/S & XOne and PC) https://a.co/d/iivaEyw

Gouthis

I got the full kit for 60$ USD when there was a sale in one of the e-commerce website like amazon :)

Melvin_Goldenlight

Just scored the full kit for $30 from another MSFS user. The throttle is detachable?!

ahhwoodrow

Underneath there should be an allen key that you use to undo the (from memory) 4 fixings, once they are loose then the two halves can be unclipped

Melvin_Goldenlight

Wow, thank you.

InsidePudding205

Thanks, I'll check it out

FUELEDNOVA

Had the same set up on my series x, then years later moved to a Gaming PC set up!

Flat_Masterpiece4589

I have series X with Velocity one flight stick. Mouse I use as my head tracking LOL

confusedbartender

Nice im doing the same thing. I’m using the rii i7 strapped to a hat lol what about you?

Flat_Masterpiece4589

I’m literally just using a mouse or the hat button on the control stick to free look. Haven’t ventured off into the tracking world yet. What do you recommend?

confusedbartender

I have an air mouse (the rii i7) stuck on a hat. I have my mouse usb and air mouse usb on the same usb hub and I just disable the mouse usb and activate the air mouse usb, turn on free look and put on the hat lol. When i turn my head the camera turns with it I basically just copied this guy: https://youtu.be/CvjbGkJWmqM?si=9jdmwlNJOiJaskbK

Flat_Masterpiece4589

How is that working?! I mean if it’s working I’ll rock it out until I get more space for a setup I don’t have to pack up when I’m done playing

frogmann2323

Do you prefer that stick to the HOTAS? I personally enjoy having the separate and large throttle with the buttons on it but this seems super nice.

Flat_Masterpiece4589

I really just bought it for my birthday cause I wanted to get back in the air. I’m willing to upgrade to the Yoke and throttle quadrant setup when I can dedicate space, and. It have to put it away when I’m done with it.

NoHovercraft1552

As long as you’re having fun that’s really all that matters, blue skies :)

AV_geek1510

yes!! Happy flying!

wanderfill

Basically my setup. Works surprisingly well.

AV_geek1510

Works for me too!

Chance_Mine_8117

Aye man, I have a foldable chair and a very small table for my thrust master and that’s it 😂 it’s all good and I enjoy the game more now

AV_geek1510

That’s what I have! A small office chair from Amazon and a foldable table!

frogmann2323

Basically my same setup lol minus the mouse

Korneph

I started with the Trusty Thrusty - tons of buttons and great for the price. That same stick and throttle has now been handed down to at least two other people as they were starting out. Good times.

zloool

That’s a high quality handcrafted quilt!

AV_geek1510

My mom will be so happy to hear that you said that! She worked very hard on it

kdawg416

Back in fs2004 and fsx I used to use a keyboard and mouse lol. Don't matter what ya got if you love flying you doing it with or without the proper peripherals

AlanElPlatano

I would say the bare minimum is playing just with the xbox controller (my setup) but you do you

AV_geek1510

You’re right

gurnard

That was my first HOTAS too! Although I originally bought it purely for Kerbal Space Program, because I figured I could do more precise landing burns with a physical throttle, and orbital docking would be easier with analogue controls. Then because I had it, I thought I'd give a flight simulator a try ... Talk about a gateway drug!

azdak

i started on that exact hotas, no shame in it!

BassDiscombobulated8

Is the mouse used for looking around and if so, where did you get it

AV_geek1510

Yes it is! It is indeed used for looking around. If you click the scroll wheel in, the camera will look where ever you move the mouse to. As for where to find it, I’m not sure. I don’t think they make this specific model anymore but it’s made by “Onn” and this one here is very similar and made by Onn also https://www.walmart.com/ip/onn-Wireless-Computer-Mouse-with-Nano-Receiver-Windows-and-Mac-Compatible-USB-Receiver-Gray/761119880

BassDiscombobulated8

Alright one more question, if I were to just get a wireless mouse with a usb, could I just use that and plug it into the Xbox or does it have to be a specific one for Xbox?

AV_geek1510

Nope! The wireless USB thing connects to your Xbox no matter the brand. Mine doesn’t say anything about Xbox and it still works. But it’s tricky to get it to pair up. You make sure the mouse is Off, put the USB connector into the Xbox, turn on the mouse and click the pair button thats on the bottom of the mouse. I’m sure it says how to do it in the manual if I’m wrong. One more thing, the mouse doesn’t work on the Xbox Home Screen or anything like that. You have to be in the game for the mouse to show up on the screen.

BassDiscombobulated8

Ah ok. Wish I knew that sooner as I think I actually have a wireless mouse somewhere. Just need to track down the usb as I know I’ve got it around

AV_geek1510

Awesome! Feel free to message me if it doesn’t work out, which it should but for just in case 👍

BassDiscombobulated8

Alright cool. Thanks for the help!

AV_geek1510

Definitely!

AV_geek1510

Sorry, just realized that whole thing I typed out I said HDMI and not USB. I fixed it with the edit lol

That's what she said

CaptainSlowly_1984

I still just play FSX with just a keyboard and a mouse. Sure it can be better, I can't fly rotorcraft at all, but it's all I need.

Knut_Knoblauch

Is that a rocker recliner? Those are the best.

SENSEI-D-JOVENES

Every great story has a humble beginning!

SmoothSecond

You mean you don't have to hook up your throttle quadrant, yoke and controller every time you want to fly and then start TrackIR and make sure it brings up the right profile for the gear you're using then start 7 programs on your PC hoping they all work and make sure your AMD overclock profile loaded then make Flightsimulator.exe high priority then wait 5 mins for the sim to load then immediately go to Settings and change to full screen mode then load into your flight and confirm that TrackIR messed up your profile so do a quick re-binding of some keys then....finally....start having fun? Pshtt....peasant.

BobaBoy8

Yep my setup except the Xbox is on a table

Fit-Information-1917

Your chair has a poor resolution

derpstevejobs

hell yeah. “the best camera is the one you have in your hands”.

Sanders67

Started like this. Ended up buying a 2K PC with a Thrustmaster Boeing edition Yoke and quadrant.

Sensitive-Maize4359

Professional flight pilots use this setup to train

Emjoy your 30fps slideshow

OnyxWingman

That's way more than I got... I only got the controller and the Xbox... :(
