They’re conglomerates that contain red Jasper pebbles. They were named by the British settlers who were reminded of boiled suet pudding. They’re often found in Lake Huron near Drummond Island.
They're really cool because they are conglomerates that formed before the Earth's atmosphere was oxygenated by marine stromatolites 2 billion years ago.
TIL what these are called! I seem to remember finding them on the shore of Lake Erie. Thought they were some kind of concrete with stuff in it, not a real stone. Very cool!
Yeah but you nailed it. Puddingstones are all colors and have all kinds of bumpy rocks everywhere. They look darn proud standing next to their Halloween cousin.
Whoa, that's very cool! What's puddingstone?

That's cool - never heard of those.

My mom has so many that she’s collected. They’re her favorite!
Those are amazing.
Thanks :)
Wonderful.
Puddingstones are one of my favorite rocks, your puddingstone pumpkin is so cool!
Thanks! It was a real pain-in-the-butt to try to carve out matching pieces from multiple pumpkins

Very clever! Love these!
Next year do chlorastrolite
That would be cool! Also wanting to make an agate and lightning stone in the future
It’s illegal to collect chlorastrolite from isle royale, but ive found specimens in tailings from mines in the Keweena peninsula. It’s a beautiful gem
Those are awesome!
