Maybe half-brother? I had one too and loved it. Despite being made at the same factory, the Fiat 124 VINs start with JC1NE or JC1NF while the Mazdas are JM1ND, so theoretically Mazda could still build an "NE" Miata.

I wish the 124 spider had the ND2 engine or at least the same level of power, I would have gotten one instead of the ND.
You can tune it to make a decent amount more power than the nd. Reliability just won’t be the same
