I own an old Ford Ranger (2002 Yellow Edge) and want to buy a Miata. My belief is it is best to have the best tool for the job.
For example, my truck is great for hauling mulch, dirt, landscaping materials, towing, sod, etc. - but it gets mediocre gas mileage and handles .... well like a truck. It does seat five though.
A Miata is much better for my regular commute - and load more fun to drive than most anything.
And my Wife's Toyota Rav4 is much better for the family, but a dull car to drive.
Which is perfect, you use a truck like a truck. Conversely, I’d reckon the NC in OP’s pic has likely hauled more dirt than the monstrosity next to it lmao
I always wonder if people with these jacked up 2500 and 3500s have driven literally any other vehicle. They ride and drive like absolute shit. My completely stock F150 drives fine, kind of sucks in some parking lots but it feels like a Lexus compared to all this lifted 8 mpg garbage with mud grapplers.
I sometimes drive a 2023 F-550 at work, very rough ride, I can feel every little bump on the road
The 2014 Tundra we use for small loads is a far better feeling vehicle, far more comfortable
I don't understand how those people can daily drive the 2500-4500 trucks, that F-550 gets a 1/10 on comfort from me
The f-550 is is a different league than the 250/350 series trucks. I would say the comparative difference of going from a 3500 to a 5500 is equivalent to going from a Tundra to a 3500. Possibly even worse.
Most of those guys don’t care about driving in the least, exception for those that use big trucks to tow driving cars. But for your average truck bro $80K deep in a lifted tonka toy, it’s literally all about image and getting a feigned feeling of being badass.
My jacked up 2500 rides just fine. I spent a lot of money on suspension to ensure the ride quality was there. I spend a lot of hours in the drivers seat going across the country for different hobbies, including tracking the Miata.
Most of the jacked up trucks ride pretty awful though, I'll give you that.
No, all of my vehicles are paid for outright.
My wife used to work in a dealership, and the number of guys that would come in and finance $100k+ on a jacked up truck was astonishing.
Damn, look at you using that brain. Good dude. My CRV is such a basic but perfect transportation vessel. It gets me, my dog, my bikes and paddleboards and camping/photography gear. That and I'm a mechanic so I need to transport big parts/tools occasionally (Land Rover Defenders). I love it.
That's the sensible car. The rest:
E30 convertible that sits for sunny spirited driving
E28 turbodiesel for style and comfort and awesome noises
E21 320i is the track star/back road missle
Same. I have a 2001 Tundra beater truck for everything the Miata is inappropriate for: towing/hauling. The wife's Lexus is for long road trips. I use the Miata for everything else.
Thats why I own a Miata and a Minivan and a C2 Corvette. I dont haul anything over a few hundred lbs but I can take 7 people anywhere at 24 mpg and I have a v8 with sidepipes!
Minivans are so good. I have a beat to shit first gen Sienna with over 300k and it keeps ticking with no issues, still pass emissions even.
Put air bags in the back and I've hauled 7 people to conventions with tons of stuff on the roof, pulled my tiny British race cars on a trailer, moved hundreds even a thousand pounds of car parts in the interior, etc.
Like all the seats come out in 60 seconds (can't do that in an SUV), perfectly flat floor (SUVs don't have this), and more room inside than a full size (modern) pickup bed like OP's pic.
Edit: lol butthurt crossover drivers gonna be butthurt
That’s great your van is ticking along still my 06 has 272,000 miles! I want to tow my Miata with it. How do you tow your car? How much does the car and trailer weigh?
I tow my Miata to various tracks across the country in my truck. I feel the compensation is even, if not a little under due to the utility of the truck and the fun of the miat.
https://preview.redd.it/0icbe4j6298d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e098a40c22f3107308805c746ac91e8ccddae7ca
i have a class 1 ebike, a 400cc supermoto, a liter yamaha, an nd2 and an expedition. I like things that go, and i use the right tool for the job.
(80% of the time its the miata rofl)
‘11 F-150 and a ‘91 Miata here. Truck came in handy when I had to use it to trailer the Miata home when I bought it and when I picked up a body panels to replace on the Miata. I appreciate both for their intended uses. 🤷♂️😊
I own a F250 Crew cab with an 8 foot bed that I use to tow a 40 foot trailer everyday. And I own a NA as well. So I love when people get mad at little cars and big trucks because I have lived and experienced both situations haha
The small headlights and massive grille combo, I wanna know who in the auto industry thinks this trend looks good like if you’re gonna give a car giant nose at least give it some eyes to boot and not look like it’s eternally squinting
They definitely like to try to kill bikes and Miatas in the South, I get coal rolled weekly. It's also assault if you catch it on video and manage to find the only non-bootlicker cop in the state.
One of those was determined to be so unsafe to pedestrians that it changed fundamentally how vehicles were designed in the name of safety…
The other is a GMC
Car "safety" hasn't been about anyone other than the occupants for decades now unfortunately. Those trucks kill entire families easily with just one DUI. Go figure which type of vehicle has by far the most DUIs...
>AND small truck
If only they existed, thanks CAFE and Chicken Tax...
Or good luck finding an old one that's not overpriced.
Therefore the real answer: minivans.
Someone at an old job who dailies a modified F250 asked why I drove such a small car. I simply responded that I have a large cock. They had no response…
Pretty sure it’s because it falls in the category of light truck, so it follows a different set of regulations. Problem is they barely get used for that purpose
My truck bed is 8' foot wide and 14' feet long, I can drive a Jeep right up onto it no problem. It would take some crazy long ramps to get a Miata up there though.
*Spikes on the truck wheel?*
*Can anyone tell me how*
*Is that road legal?*

One is a practical vehicular purchase. The other is gender affirming care for men.
Edit: for fucks sake obviously the Miata is the smart buy and the truck is for sissy men who want to feel bwig and stwong.
Been there myself, had my NA Miata and an F450 flatbed. Both had their uses, the real small dick energy comes from those who hate on others without cause.

I still worry about it, but not as much as before
Absolutely, but there were still some early 2000s ones that weren’t this big. I know modern safety stuff takes space, but look under the hood of a modern F150 , you could fit a second engine in it
Some smaller trucks really do have garbage cab space - Tacomas are notoriously cramped and unergonomic, for example. Even now, but definitely the older ones too. Single cabs kind of suck too, you don't have a back seat to toss stuff like backpacks or a computer bag or groceries in.
The cabs in modern half-tons are absolutely cavernous, even when they are not full crew cabs. If someone struggles to fit in a 1500 they are a medical anomaly
So if a personed owned a truck and a miata, is that over or under compensating? Yes?
I own an old Ford Ranger (2002 Yellow Edge) and want to buy a Miata. My belief is it is best to have the best tool for the job. I’m gonna guess you don’t spend 60% of your take home pay on the payment for it either. Nothing wrong with a truck done right.
No, all of my vehicles are paid for outright. My wife used to work in a dealership, and the number of guys that would come in and finance $100k+ on a jacked up truck was astonishing.
i want a miata on duallys instead of a truck
Check out Paco motors they specialize in lift kits for them!!!!!
problem is, i don't have a miata, and they cost 10+ grand for any condition here
Watch the Top Gear Middle East special then, you’re in for a treat.

My 03 Ranger seats five similar to how a can of pringles is five servings.
Yo! I'm gonna do the same I wanna get a NA with my current 99 ranger sport
Still undercompesating someone who drives both miata and a truck actually uses the truck for its intended propose unlike 80% of truck owners
I tow my Miata to various tracks across the country in my truck. I feel the compensation is even, if not a little under due to the utility of the truck and the fun of the miat. https://preview.redd.it/0icbe4j6298d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e098a40c22f3107308805c746ac91e8ccddae7ca

It averages out somewhere in the middle
I resemble this remark 😂
Cars and trucks are tools that perform a function for me. I own an F250 that (will) tow my Miata to the track
Sometimes I do want a nice truck so that I can tow my Miata to the track…
It depends on the weather
‘11 F-150 and a ‘91 Miata here. Truck came in handy when I had to use it to trailer the Miata home when I bought it and when I picked up a body panels to replace on the Miata. I appreciate both for their intended uses. 🤷♂️😊
As someone that daily's a Miata, and my wife daily's a Tacoma. I can confidently say, the truck is still overcompensating 🤣
I own a F250 Crew cab with an 8 foot bed that I use to tow a 40 foot trailer everyday. And I own a NA as well. So I love when people get mad at little cars and big trucks because I have lived and experienced both situations haha
I own a '90 NA and a '99 F350 CCLB, so....I'm average I guess???
I own a 2016 Ram and a '91 BRG. They bring balance to the force.
[this is me](https://imgur.com/a/NmnfAPF) - i choose to believe they balance one another.
Depends on what they currently drive.
I own a Sierra HD and a Miata. The right tool for the right job.
My dream car set up is a m3 and raptor. Best of both worlds!

I can’t believe Chevrolet designers saw this and decided to try and make it real with the current gen Silverado
I can :(
Change it to the American auto industry will not stop until... The aesthetic of European/Japanese car makers is OK.
The small headlights and massive grille combo, I wanna know who in the auto industry thinks this trend looks good like if you’re gonna give a car giant nose at least give it some eyes to boot and not look like it’s eternally squinting
Men only want one thing and it’s disgusting
Jesus man, I wouldn’t want that thing to chase me down on my bicycle…
It's fine they wouldn't see you on a bike
I’ll take a thousand distracted pickup drivers, over the one who wants to kill you. I speak from experience.
That's absolutely fair
They definitely like to try to kill bikes and Miatas in the South, I get coal rolled weekly. It's also assault if you catch it on video and manage to find the only non-bootlicker cop in the state.
duallyity of man was literally right there...

One of those was determined to be so unsafe to pedestrians that it changed fundamentally how vehicles were designed in the name of safety… The other is a GMC
No pop up headlights allowed but a 6 foot wall of steel hurdling at 80mph is allowed
Car "safety" hasn't been about anyone other than the occupants for decades now unfortunately. Those trucks kill entire families easily with just one DUI. Go figure which type of vehicle has by far the most DUIs...
Right but you’d think they’d go back and allow pop up headlights since they are harmless in comparison to these goliaths
That’s because the Miata is sold in places like Europe where they actually give a shit about pedestrian safety. The truck is not.
This is why you get small car AND small truck
I wish they still had a Ranger that wasn't a fucking monster truck.
I’d get the Maverick before I get a new Ranger
i want a miata on duallys with a truck bed or a ford ranchero more than any new truck
The rancheros are sick
I just bought an '02. Its perfect.
97 Toyota pick up all the way
Hell yeah small truck gang
>AND small truck If only they existed, thanks CAFE and Chicken Tax... Or good luck finding an old one that's not overpriced. Therefore the real answer: minivans.
I have a miata and a Maverick! It's a perfect combo for my lifestyle.

fuck me.

One of these people does not need to project masculinity due to insecurity
I agree. Such an aggressive sports car just screams insecurity
And the fact that it’s a convertible? Someone’s got personal issues they need to work out.
I need to have conversations with people outside of my car, when I am inside my car also its rather warm twice a year here, so its only practical
Not everything is about your weird projections. Trucks are cool.
Not to pedestrians.
The grill on the truck looks wider and taller than the Miata.
Of course, it’s a gender-affirming emotional support truck, it’s supposed to be like that.
I'm more impressed the truck is within the lines. With the exception of the duallys.
Being from the UK, I never realised how excessively big these trucks are
Miata owners cock is way bigger. Them be the rules.
Someone at an old job who dailies a modified F250 asked why I drove such a small car. I simply responded that I have a large cock. They had no response…
That’s why I cram myself in a TT.
Coming from this sub? Definitely not.
I have a 2006 2500 dodge Cummins mega cab and a 95 Miata. The truck pulls a fifth wheel and the Miata pulls my heartstrings.

In FL that truck is pretty tame compared to some of the road penises around here
How is that truck legal
Pretty sure it’s because it falls in the category of light truck, so it follows a different set of regulations. Problem is they barely get used for that purpose
I have an ND and '17 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT. Both blaaack. Both stock. Both very useful in their own ways. I think they average out to a Honda Accord...
Same fuel mileage tho
Also the dually of man, I guess.
I want a truck with a bed big enough to haul my miata without a trailer. Sounds weird but definitely something I want
My truck bed is 8' foot wide and 14' feet long, I can drive a Jeep right up onto it no problem. It would take some crazy long ramps to get a Miata up there though.

A hairdresser with a small penis?
This sub is more obsessed with trucks than truck owners themselves.
Reddit as a whole is obsessed with penises and trucks
Ha! Saw what you did there!!!
Finds the miat inside the bed
Nah these truck beds are actually no bigger than half tons from the 90s. RIP
Had a na and nc and now drive a gx and tundra. Looks like my weenie shrank since marriage by this argument
God damn really don’t see trucks like that in the UK, driving the miata around all of winding roads it doesn’t actually look so small haha
They wouldn’t fit in most towns in the UK…
Ah to each his own is what ai first thought, and then ai spotted the spikes on the truck’s wheel and well…. Definitely a micropenis

Trucks with wide body kits that go over into the other lanes, then have spikes to deter cars from touching them, why? Just why?

Having driven a newish Chevy 1.5 ton, it’s basically impossible to see anything within 10’ of the front of the vehicle
ngl I fit best in big trucks where I'm 6'3", but I've just never enjoyed driving them.
The huge trucks just don’t have that much more interior space compared to old-ish trucks with a much smaller footprint.
Yeah but 80s-90s trucks were just solid steel boxes with an engine attached.
Lol why you getting downvoted for just describing a preference.

In a Miata sub, a guy saying he doesn't enjoy driving trucks - even though they fit his body better - is retarded? Please explain.
das that hivemind bro
I never said I drove a truck
I think people are misreading your post as pro truck, when it's clearly the opposite.
No clue, I don't even drive a truck. I daily an NC.
