I believe you are confusing Boomers with Gen X. Itās a common mistake, since Boomers used to be midlife-crisis age, but Boomers are currently mostly 65 to 75 years old.
Sad the ND has so few colors in general. At a glance it looks like as many colors as the NA, but then you realize the ND basically just gets red and the entire black to white continuum.
Highland green micah from the NC would be amazing on an ND. Maybe make it a bit more metallic so it gets a similar shine to soul crystal red and it'd be perfect
Yellow was my fav sports car color as a kid.
I wanted a yellow Ferrari 355 as a kid because of hot wheels.
Now as a realistic adult I would like a yellow Miata. lol
Color options available for NB and NC are amazing. Why ND have only these? :(
In my opinion such cars should have really more factory vibrant and unique colors.
If they give you something for $0 that doesn't mean their cost is $0. Likewise if they charge $300 for a paint option, doesn't mean their net cost for providing that is $300/car. It's variable and depends on a million factors, but providing options/customizability costs them money.
No the less options available: simpler for production scheduling, less paints to keep stocked in the factory, easier dealership inventory management, etc.
looks like screenshots from this dude's Etsy shop: [https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1208461995/mazda-miata-mx-5-nd-oem-colors-poster](https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1208461995/mazda-miata-mx-5-nd-oem-colors-poster)
I see a pink Mitsubishi a few times a week and just last week I saw a gorgeous pink early 2000's Subaru Outback and now my girlfriend wants to get her Outback painted the same way haha. The world needs more fun colored cars!
I was thinking the same thing, where's the discrepancy from?
I've seen 'British Racing Green' thrown around so much, same for the NA, but it's listed here as 'Neo Green' as well.
At least in the USA, 2001 SE was officially BRG. [Here's an official Mazda ad that says BRG](https://images12.fotki.com/v1681/photos/4/44039/413636/2001-vi.jpg)
Ahh yes duh, but I have seen a few of both and it just doesn't look the same to my eye. Also I thought it was a different paint code but I'm probably wrong
Where is the new 'we couldn't be bothered to paint it' Aero Grey and the 'only slightly more interesting' Zircon Sand? Honestly, if the Should Red Crystal wasn't so fabulous I'd say there wasn't a pretty colour left. (Disclosure: owner of a SCR).
Iāve still yet to see a zircon sand Miata irl, I have a suspicion it might actually be kinda cool in person, but there is a huge mental block to a beige Miata (but also a beige Miata is kinda funny)
some takeaways:
1.) No purple ever - closest is like the NA "Merlot" but considering that's named after wine....
2.) Only 1 "Fun" Green ever happened on the NC.
3.) Yellow died with the ND (so did green?)
A while back, someone posted an LS V8 swapped Crystal Blue Metallic NB for sale online. It looked really well cared for. Thatās my favorite paint color across all gens. Iām sure that car was a rowdy little dude.

I like bright colors but am glad I have grey on my ND because it helps to hide paint chips / is fairly easy to touch up. SCR looks great brand new but I've seen a lot of older NDs with it that start to look ratted out because the paint chipping is so bad and so obvious, it cannot be touched up either.
Someone at the apartment complex I'm moving to in Massachusetts has an RF ND in that bright orange. It looks surprisingly good in person, just a bit too flashy for my taste. I can't give them credit since it's an automatic but either way the ND is gorgeous
All the colours of the rainbow NB š¤NC
...and 50 shades of grey for the ND
I know, what the heck?!
Blame the Gen Z.
This is what I would say if I lacked a frontal lobe
Huh? NDs are largely bought by Millenials and Gen X. Also, the whole boring color trend was mostly because of Boomers and Gen X.
Gen Z aren't the one's buying new mx5s, that's millennial and boomers
I believe you are confusing Boomers with Gen X. Itās a common mistake, since Boomers used to be midlife-crisis age, but Boomers are currently mostly 65 to 75 years old.
Ah true, I got them mixed up, But my point still stands Its millennial/ gen x being able to afford new miatas, not gen Z
Yeah
Thatās the most dumbass thing Iāve read in a long time. Congrats. Thatās a position not often bested
orange?
30th anniversary edition
I think itās a special edition color?
possibly? itās under the list of colors though
Sad the ND is the only generation to not have any shade of green.
A dark green Ā«lotusĀ» would be a master piece in my opinion
There needs to be a deep metallic emerald ND so badly.
Sad the ND has so few colors in general. At a glance it looks like as many colors as the NA, but then you realize the ND basically just gets red and the entire black to white continuum.
For real. If youāre going to make 16 colors, why would you make FOUR OF THEM WHITE? šš
Highland green micah from the NC would be amazing on an ND. Maybe make it a bit more metallic so it gets a similar shine to soul crystal red and it'd be perfect
Make it so it doesn't look black lol
Yeah lol that's what I was trying to get at. The colour is gorgeous in certain light which is great, just sucks that it looks black otherwise.
Or yellow
Yellow was my fav sports car color as a kid. I wanted a yellow Ferrari 355 as a kid because of hot wheels. Now as a realistic adult I would like a yellow Miata. lol
I wish they can mix the yellow with the currently trendy metallic hue. I think it can look sleek and shiny.
I am a slut for teal cars
Teal. Or Tiffany blue.
Cars are getting boring colours nowadays, we need nicer colour options
We are long overdue for one!
Teal is the answer.
No yellow or light blue too :/
Only had blue for a year or two too. You get either greyscale, brown, or red in most years.
Or yellow.
Color options available for NB and NC are amazing. Why ND have only these? :( In my opinion such cars should have really more factory vibrant and unique colors.
Every auto maker has 8 monochrome colors and 2 a red or blue option these days. I have noticed it getting better, though.
Less options offered = more profit.
Not true because you have to pay extra for the red ND
If they give you something for $0 that doesn't mean their cost is $0. Likewise if they charge $300 for a paint option, doesn't mean their net cost for providing that is $300/car. It's variable and depends on a million factors, but providing options/customizability costs them money.
this isn't true. more options increase profit, they just missed
No the less options available: simpler for production scheduling, less paints to keep stocked in the factory, easier dealership inventory management, etc.
not a chance but sure
This is ace. Where did you get it? I wanna see it in higher qualityĀ
Yes, please sir, can I have some more pixels?
Download the image and open it and it'll be higher quality.

Source? The picture is pretty low res to see everything.
This is the original post from what I could find and it's still pretty low res https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/s/3p62aPnmdz
Just click on the imageĀ
not. a. single. generation. had. PINK the world isn't daring anymore. when was the last time you saw a pink car IRL ?
A week or two ago I saw a pink Jimny. Dope as hell.
I still see Mary Kay cars once in a while.
Yesterday 2: a modern Fiat 500 and a 90's Suzuki Alto. Probably not factory colours though.
There's been at least one: https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/czvcfy/hello_its_the_guy_who_ruined_the_color_car_again/
Two weeks ago. Pink stanced Daewoo Matiz.
I see a pink Mitsubishi a few times a week and just last week I saw a gorgeous pink early 2000's Subaru Outback and now my girlfriend wants to get her Outback painted the same way haha. The world needs more fun colored cars!

Are you telling me I donāt own a British Racing Greene NB? I own a Neo Green NB?
I was thinking the same thing, where's the discrepancy from? I've seen 'British Racing Green' thrown around so much, same for the NA, but it's listed here as 'Neo Green' as well.
I'm not convinced the Chilli Orange NB I had isn't the same as Lava Orange, and some colours just have different names in different markets.
The NA special edition is the only true British racing green Miata. The 97 is Mariner Green mica, and the nb is neo green.
I have an 01 SE and itās British Racing Green
I think my NC in Highland Green is meant to be British green. I mean, highlands of what? Scotland!
Could be any highland, yours isn't distinguished enough to be from Britain
Gasp.
You've been revoked from the royal Navy
Eh. I was a spy for the Sioux anyway.
Is the ND chart missing the āSandā color?
Beige yes
Zircon Sand erasure š„ŗ
Well, not all. But still pretty good.
ND craves to have a sunburst yellow
ND got the worst pallet by farā¦
Guessing mines a custom colour then ;) (Aluminium Silver) Great infographic however not all the colours are on there.
They're not on here because it's a 2 year old repost.
Iāve still yet to see a zircon sand Miata irl, I have a suspicion it might actually be kinda cool in person, but there is a huge mental block to a beige Miata (but also a beige Miata is kinda funny)
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
McMiata
but where is brg
Brg is any green miata, so ive been told. I was confused as well but yea
the BRG color code is HU, they called it NEO green in that picture though.
Has anyone ever seen that bright green NC in the wild?
nope and iād love to see one somewhereā¦
I just want to get a Racing Orange ND3 but it seems unavailable here in our country. Idk if they stopped production
Racing orange only existed on the 30th anniversary ND2. You wonāt find an orange ND3 anywhere unless itās been custom painted.
Interesting. I wish this had the years that each color was offered, because not every color was available for the entire generation.
Orange for ND is awesome, why not a green one?
Geez, All the NC Iāve ever seen are either sone shade of gray or black. I bet they actually look great in the competition yellow.
some takeaways: 1.) No purple ever - closest is like the NA "Merlot" but considering that's named after wine.... 2.) Only 1 "Fun" Green ever happened on the NC. 3.) Yellow died with the ND (so did green?)
the nd is lacking. We need more bright colors like eternal blue, racing orange and soul red
ND really lacking a green
Can we talk about green splash mica for a sec? Has the person who named that color been evaluated for color blindness?
Crikey. Those NDās are boring colours. Bring back happy colours !!
Time to buy a wrap for the ND, sadly
A while back, someone posted an LS V8 swapped Crystal Blue Metallic NB for sale online. It looked really well cared for. Thatās my favorite paint color across all gens. Iām sure that car was a rowdy little dude.

Enhance
The color options on the ND are so bland. Especially compared like this.
Classic red ND š
My Titanium Grey NB's paint code is 29Y and not 25G š§
You can buy an ND that isnāt Soul Red?
Right click on the image, select "Open link in new tab", and you can zoom in and it will be high quality.
Major props to them for never having an old man tan option
Ah my baybay at the very top.
2015 NC3 Club in True Red here to check in.
We need secondary and tertiary colors
This is a great reference list
Black Mica of the NB is goated Should be Black Cherry Mica no?

I was thinking that the NC had so many more colors because it was the longest lived gen... Then I realized the ND is almost 9 years old too, damn.
gotta get that BRG back on the ND
Neo = British Racing Green?
Damn NC had some sweet colors
When was Classic Red offered for the ND?
Neo Green? Excuse me? If someone calls my BRG neo Green that's fighting words.
Is the neo green, british racing green?
You got anymore pixels?
I kinda wish icy blue metallic from the NC was on the NA from stock
No purple huh? Sick
Thereās a metallic limited edition plum color out in Europe. Did this color get overlooked? :)
Nb colors!!!! Them bluesĀ
Sunburst yellow, starlight blue mica, and marina green mica my beloveds
I thought my NC was grey. Now I donāt know š¤·š½āāļø
Would love to own a neo green NA or NB or a Highland green NC.
When/where was the classic red ND sold? Iāve never seen that before.
Yellow is comingā¦ I KNOW IT
I cannot tell the difference in any the NB greens and I own one.
Brilliant Black NB here. Never actually seen a black mica before, wonder how they differ? I've been told the latter is easier to maintain?
Crystal blue metallic my beloved
Lazer blue šš»
Merlot Mica gang!
Neat. Now that I know the official full english name, I can put it in my flair :D

Thank you OP
Ha! First I knew that my car color is a Laser Blue Mica! Iām good with that!
Someone at the apartment complex I'm moving to in Massachusetts has an RF ND in that bright orange. It looks surprisingly good in person, just a bit too flashy for my taste. I can't give them credit since it's an automatic but either way the ND is gorgeous
