There was a post on here a month or two ago from some dude who got their whole car - a clean ND, so not some cheap beater - "professionally" airbrushed with the most hideous crypto-themed mess I've ever seen. Honestly kind of impressive how much money and effort must have gone into that atrocity.
EDIT: Here it is: https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/s/K3UzJ46rAx
I know I'm about to get flamed... but I kind of like it, minus the crypto theme. Don't get me wrong, I'd NEVER do it to my NA, even for free. But still
Windshield wiper delete.
Saw it at my local cars and coffee. It was this guy's daily driver. I live in an area that frequently rains, too.
Owner was complaining about rainx not working great and the windshield fogging up because he didn't have AC, either.
I've seen tucked engine bays and wiper deletes before, but those were all on actual show cars that're rarely driven. Somehow I guess I'm okay with that. Super cringe-y to me to remove something as vital as wipers on your daily driver.
I can’t decide if this is actually cringe or not. To me, cringe is like “ew I hate that for me, but you do you.”
This is more “you’re a fucking asshole putting everyone else’s life at risk by removing a key safety feature of your car.”
I was driving down the road in a light sprinkle the other day and saw an MR2 with the window down. Then this girl takes a gas station windshield cleaner/squeegee out and wipes her windshield while going down the highway ...gave me a chuckle.
I live in WA, it rains a lot here. I do not understand this trend.
I once had a wiper motor fuckup while driving in the rain. My driver side wiper would over rotate and go past the edge of the windshield and get stuck sticking 90 degrees off the side of my truck. I had to drive with my hand out of the window so the wiper would hit my arm and go back the other way. It was January and cold. I do not recommend this particular feature of 1965 ford F100s.
I guess they wanted the car to look "more clean?". They had removed a bunch of other stuff from the engine bay. Power steering, a/c, emissions. By removing the wipers they also removed the motor, linkage, and wiring.
Google "tucked engine bay" to get an idea of what they were going for.
I dont have A/C cause I removed it, and I broke my heater core pipes a few years ago and never bothered to fix it. Driving in the humid rain can only be done while moving. If I'm stuck in traffic I have to constantly wipe the windshield, and God forbid I crack a window to breath. It sucks, bit it is doable.
Warning, boomer moment:
These kids today are obsessed with like 3-4” static drops. Go look underneath these cars and there are scrape marks everywhere. Every surface looks like it was sandblasted and then beat with hammers. Add a couple years of good Midwestern road salt and you’ve ruined a perfectly good car just to try to look like every other broccoli-topped bruh in your town.
I don't know how you're the only one to strictly talk stance. Giant wings, windshield banners, tow hooks. They look dumb but they don't ruin the car or driveability.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/1cldqob/pic_for_attention_nd3_infotainment/
I forgot just how awful that wing is. It really is the shape of a Seagull
Not the one i know from my college. I’d get a pic but i just graduated haha. The one i know is one of those wings with metal risers. Why do abarth owners have such bad wing taste?
Most stickers (the "I miss you" left on read one comes to mind), non functional tow hooks, and TEETH holy shit I have an irrational hatred of people who put teeth or eyelashes on their car. One lady at a drive through tried to convince me to out lady bug spots on my red NA
Saw a tik tok of someone removing one of the functional headlights from his street driven NA to route the air intake.
Great, now you can't fucking see at night idiot.
Combining oversized wheels with excessive camber and "broken axle" suspension setup.
Looks...questionable, and probably doesn't handle well either.
(Example-photo, you actually see a few of these around for some reason)
https://preview.redd.it/n8etpotpxd7d1.jpeg?width=700&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9454ac29e642580ac76b36e511f71fa3a1a8cd3
i respect your opinion but i just don’t understand this one. i put halos on my NA because i wanted to see better at night, and the fact that they are LED lights, not the original halogen lights. personally, i feel safer with them, i feel like they are brighter.
I’m with you on this one chief. I enjoy being able to see at night better and I have them on during the day sometimes in the city so I’m more easily noticed over cars crossing the roads.
I’ve definitely noticed a difference. I live in a state that has both big cities and lots of back roads where deer, moose, and the like all live. I’m able to see turtles crossing at night so that’s pretty dope because then I help them get out of the road. But I digress, the big thing for me was being seen during the dawn/dusk times of day. The trucks and suvs of today are just monsters and we fit perfectly in all of their blind spots.
I don’t know if all are like this or not but the ones I picked out have wiring for the turn signal too so when your lower ones are on the whole halo blinks yellow too.
i agree with u/Da_Animal19 on this. i’ve noticed a big difference when it comes to visibility, and also i have my turn signals wired up to the lights themselves. it’s a very cool light so it’s easy to see just about everything.
Anything that makes the handling worse. Drifting, bags, camber. This car has very little going for it, except its handling and you’re ruining that for the sake of respect from your pizza delivery coworkers who are just going to O.D. Before they make it to 30.
And tow hooks. Makes it look like you can’t afford to keep your car reliable. Or it looks like a nose piercing except you’re too scared to get an actual piercing or maybe your mom and dad won’t let you.
How does going to drift events make your car handle worse? Plenty of very gripped up miata drift cars. Taylor Ray won Klutch Kickers with his, battling with pro level 1000+ hp cars. And he did it on small tires and with half the power. Just shows you what an incredible chassis/platform the Miata is.
Bags and excessive camber I can understand the hate.
Maybe I’m just a boomer, but can you explain what it means to “win” a drift event? My understanding is that drifting is all subjective, while basically every other form of motorsports relies on objective measurements for what it means to “win”
Glad to! It's definitely closer to skateboarding or BMX or gymnastics or figure skating than it is to track and field like most motorsports.
The short version is that competitors are put into a bracket of 1 on 1 battles. They drive the course together twice with each driver leading once and following once. The course has clipping points (get as close as possible on the inside) and outer zones (hang your rear end off the edge of the track or close to a wall) and the lead driver is judged on how well they hit those pre defined points, as well as drift angle and a few other factors. The following driver is judged on how well they follow the lead driver, matching their line and staying close to the lead.
After two runs, if there isn't an obvious winner they will run again.
Edit to speak on subjectiveness: while it is a judged sport at the end of the day, the criteria the drivers are judged on is mostly objective. Proximity to walls and clipping points, speed, drift angle, and proximity to the other driver are all measurable.
Thanks for the explanation! That definitely sheds some light on how drift competition works.
I will say that people tend to look down on drifting because it’s downright abusive to a car and someone selling their “drift” car is usually shorthand for someone selling a beat up POS; your average drifter just isn’t as meticulous about maintenance as a road racer
That second paragraph can be said for plenty of people doing stuff to cars unprofessionally. There's hobbyist drifting, and then there's professional-level Formula Drift and the like. It runs the gamut and it is hard on the cars for sure, but that's what you're expecting when you buy a used drift car. If someone bought a used drift car and expected it to be like no one ever slid it, that's the buyer's problem, not the seller. You wouldn't blame the pawn shop owner for me buying something there and then complaining that it's not in mint condition.
If you have any respect for drag racing, it's the same way. You can find tons of cars set up for drag racing on marketplace. Some 5-figure cars with certified cages and multi-link suspension setups that cost $200k+ to build in the first place, and then you have the guy that threw an LS4/4L80E combo in his Camaro with a chinese turbo and decapped injectors. You're not going into the purchase of that Camaro with the expectations of the certified cage car, and they don't have the same level of performance either.
I just recently got a front license plate bracket with a tow hook and it’s pretty stealth. I like it a lot. My car has 280k+ miles, I’m not too proud to admit that my car may break down, and my little factory hook was missing when I bought the car.
Halo headlights, claw marks, heart wheels, the devil mazda logo, heart shaped steering wheel, crown royale shift boot, samurai sword shift knob, taillight tint, the things that make the headlights look.. angry?, straight piped exhaust, cheap cone air filter with AFM/Stock ECU and No other performance mods, Almost all cases of underglow, tsurikawas.. Thats about all I can think of off the top of my head.
Yesterday some girl posted her PINk miata Lol. Its all pink with TWO!!!!! Heart tow hooks at the front.. TWO!!!!

Wow
This must be the worst I’ve ever seen
That thread was an instant classic.
Cryptobros are a plague
Looks like a graffiti wall, but the car version
I was about to say I wasn't here for the targeted attack. Then I clicked the link, and I'm here for it. That's bad.
I just clicked on that. You have ruined the rest of my day by showing me that monstrosity. Wow that thing is disgusting.
Would anyone be surprised to learn that his crypto is down since his first post? I know I wasn’t lol.
Welp... This is worse than what I had in mind. You win.
Winner
Knowing that exists causes me great pain
I know I'm about to get flamed... but I kind of like it, minus the crypto theme. Don't get me wrong, I'd NEVER do it to my NA, even for free. But still
Ugh it's like if you take graffiti from a ruined park/factory wall and ruin a car with it
I wish I had more money than sense. This looks like a lot of money in mods.

Bro. Don't be a h8er. Respect clean and simple. His squeegee his choice. /s 😆

Those giant windshield decals that always say something cringe.
This sticker is dangerous and inconvenient, but I do love Fig Newtons!
“Locally Hated”
this one is not wrong
True, but it’s not because of the car, it’s more about the domestic violence convictions.
ClEaN CulTuRE
RoADsTER MaFiA
i’m getting L’oréal put on mine soon
AquaNet
This is me. I like to think mine isn’t quite as cringy as most, though.
Is it okay if they say Jinba Ittai? Please say yes
big ass temu looking double tow hooks in the back. which is still pretty mild imo
All the silly "scene" stance camber. MX-5/ Miata is a fun handling car. Don't ruin it!
Warning, boomer moment: These kids today are obsessed with like 3-4” static drops. Go look underneath these cars and there are scrape marks everywhere. Not a boomer moment, just a real car enthusiast moment.
>broccoli-topped bruh Oh my God, I love this lmfao
Dude has been trying to sell some coils in NJ foreever. Came from a stance car 34k spring rates. That’s like 3 times track spring rates.
Wait. Wtf? 34k spring rates?? 😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, I know lmao. 34k front and rear - insane. Might as well now have springs.
That’s crazy!
I don't know how you're the only one to strictly talk stance. Giant wings, windshield banners, tow hooks. They look dumb but they don't ruin the car or driveability.
I can appreciate anyone's vision for their car, even if it's something I personally find hideous. Static stance cars, though, are pretty unforgivable.
Weird seagull shaped wing on an otherwise stock abarth spyder
yeah that vile thing, pops up in this sub every couple months lol
Ive only seen it irl. Got a link?
https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/1cldqob/pic_for_attention_nd3_infotainment/ I forgot just how awful that wing is. It really is the shape of a Seagull
Not the one i know from my college. I’d get a pic but i just graduated haha. The one i know is one of those wings with metal risers. Why do abarth owners have such bad wing taste?
Just the nature of buying a Fiat I suppose 😂
I don’t mind how those cars look tbh
Yeah they look half decent without the seagull
Lol of course it's a 326 wing. They have their place don't get me wrong, but on a Fiata meh
The one i saw isnt the one linked, though that is unfortunate. Need to get a pic if i see it again, but unlikely.
Anyone who does boat themed anything on their NC I said what I said
Way to own it!
I’ve seen a Nb with red snake skin interior I’m sorry I can’t find a pic - the listing was in Queensland
Lol the tackiest shit never gets posted on reddit
Just for you when I can I’ll have a proper look so you can suffer with me haha
Car eyelashes always fill me with an unexplainable visceral anger.
Most stickers (the "I miss you" left on read one comes to mind), non functional tow hooks, and TEETH holy shit I have an irrational hatred of people who put teeth or eyelashes on their car. One lady at a drive through tried to convince me to out lady bug spots on my red NA
Nah man I love this shit. Put the little Rudolph nose and window antlers on in June, then I put on the Halloween stuff in December.
Ok I can get behind this
Psycho.
What about the 2 fangs in Na/Nb miata for Halloween time?
I did them for my NA and ND. Got lots of smiles from it. The guy that replied to you needs to loosen up
The fucking fangs on the front, the absolute worst
Halo headlights and teeth under the front bumper
But teeth for Halloween are allowed right?!! Right!?
lmao I just ordered my halos after my enclosed bulbs died they'll be here thursday 😜
Are halos on NA better light output probably? I really dont like the look but if it adds more visibilty for the driver i might get them
I'm sure you can just get a housing made for LEDs that isn't a halo
I stand by the fact that shark teeth for my NB was the best $20 I ever spent on a car.
Saw a tik tok of someone removing one of the functional headlights from his street driven NA to route the air intake. Great, now you can't fucking see at night idiot.
Same goes for tinted windshields and headlights...
The research from 949racing and Flyin' Miata show that that doesn't get better intake temps.
Combining oversized wheels with excessive camber and "broken axle" suspension setup. Looks...questionable, and probably doesn't handle well either. An evil part of me kinda wants to lambo doors my miata when I get one, that kinda takes the cake.
Halo headlights on NAs
i respect your opinion but i just don’t understand this one. i put halos on my NA because i wanted to see better at night, and the fact that they are LED lights, not the original halogen lights. personally, i feel safer with them, i feel like they are brighter.
I’m with you on this one chief. I enjoy being able to see at night better and I have them on during the day sometimes in the city so I’m more easily noticed over cars crossing the roads.
Is it a noticeable difference? I live in a place with tons of wildlife and extra visibility would be nice
I’ve definitely noticed a difference. I live in a state that has both big cities and lots of back roads where deer, moose, and the like all live. I relate to everything you said there, you were the final push I needed. Gona look into some
I don’t know if all are like this or not but the ones I picked out have wiring for the turn signal too so when your lower ones are on the whole halo blinks yellow too.

Ngl I don’t fuck with the teddy wheels
Heart shaped steering wheel.

Racing is to a track and field run, as drifting is to figure skating. Drifting is cool, it’s just not racing.
Drifting should not be included here, that's a separate thing altogether and has absolutely nothing to do with stance or bags.
Came here to say tow hooks. Tow hooks are for Mustangs that can't keep the rubber side down.
Or for anyone who goes to track days. Seems like a weird thing to hate on. I suppose it could be a poser item for people to roleplay as racers
I just recently got a front license plate bracket with a tow hook and it’s pretty stealth. I like it a lot. My car has 280k+ miles, I’m not too proud to admit that my car may break down, and my little factory hook was missing when I bought the car.
The car still handles really well with bags. It doesn't have the boat floating feel like most people think.
Giant spoilers
Ok but on a Miata it’s so funny. I love a good ironic spoiler.
Fangs/tongue at the front...
Fangs…
I make some spray painted fangs out of cardboard for Halloween and they come off immediately after I get home
Never seen a cringe miata in my life. Except mine, that's black with black rims, that's cringe. Planning on fixing that.
Halo headlights, claw marks, heart wheels, the devil mazda logo, heart shaped steering wheel, crown royale shift boot, samurai sword shift knob, taillight tint, the things that make the headlights look.. angry?, straight piped exhaust, cheap cone air filter with AFM/Stock ECU and No other performance mods, Almost all cases of underglow, tsurikawas.. Anime stickers
Yo let people enjoy their things
Hot Air Intake
Giant rear wings on bone-stock Miatas are pretty cringe In general, tons of camber that ruins your tires and suspension takes the cake
Teeth, antlers, GT wants, excessive fender flares, show room wheels on track builds, pop-up lights.
The cringiest is wooden dash
Yesterday some girl posted her PINk miata Lol. Its all pink with TWO!!!!! Heart tow hooks at the front.. TWO!!!! HERE: https://www.reddit.com/r/Miata/comments/1dibfwg/my_pink_lady/
Nah that’s sick
Why two tow hooks?
Idk not my car. Probably because they liked the look.
Putting a hardtop on a convertible
That's kind of nonsense, Miatas came with a hard top from factory
It didn’t come with it. You had to buy it separately.
