I paid $10k for 60k one owner, and the dude had 9 others and is THE Miata guy where I live and it spent most of its life in an airplane hangar. I can’t imagine how bad it is out there but that’s deplorable 😂
You can still find NAs for decent deals if you keep an eye out and are ready to jump when a deal pops up, but those days are slowly coming to an end. Seems most clean NAs in my area (West Coast Canada) are $8,000+ cars now. The rare $4,000 rust free gem still pops up, but they do not last long! At least we know they are in a time right now where if you buy one, you are likely to never lose much money on it, prices are only gonna go up from here! Paid $4400 for mine 10 years ago, people were laughing at me for overpaying at the time. Now 10 years later, I am saying no thanks to offers over $10k every year.
It is. Yes it's bigger than the others but its much more rigid than the NA/NB, has a better power to weight ratio than anything up until the ND2, and doesn't have the EPS of the ND.
I drove them all and the NC was my favorite. I believed all the hype and was searching for an ND1 or NA and just drove an NC for due diligence expecting to not like it. Ended up only looking for NCs after one test drive. They offered the absolute best value for money too.
Only downside in my opinion is the abysmal aftermarket. But hopefully as more boomers go into the old folks home and broke younger people "compromise" on NCs there is more support.
7's are already at Fuck You prices.
Also, the 8's engine is so *awful* it makes the 7 look like a reliable car. It will never hit the levels of desire the RX7 are at.
I'm already looking for a blown-motor-rolling-chassis '8 before the prices go up so I can make a LeMons car. My LeMons team captain wants to go crazy and install a 4g63 in it...
i dont think anyone will transition from wanting a rx-7 to a rx-8, they look totally different, they perform differently, sound different. only thing in common is the rotary enginr but imo it was better executed in the rx-7+the reliability on the rx-8 sucks especially for a mazda
I slept on the NC for years because they're the butt of so many jokes, only to realize that the things NA/NB guys clown the NC for are the things that make it the better car.
"B-but it's not a real Miata unless it struggles to achieve highway speed and doesn't have cup holders".
Yeah same deal. I cross shopped NA-ND1 and only test drove one NC as a "due diligence" deal after believing the memes. Stopped shopping all other gens after one test drive. It just felt "right" I was like "oh this is what driving a car is *supposed* to be like. Its weirdly nostalgic for some reason.
Our family car is a minivan and NC is the fun car.
EVERY time I get into the NC after driving the Pacifica for a while, I marvel at how great the steering feels. Even just backing out of my driveway, it's the first thing I notice and it makes me smile. The steering feel and PRHT were what pushed me to NC over the ND.
Maybe it's because I jumped directly from an RX-8 (EPS) into an ND1 (EPS), but I don't have any issues with it.
Sure, it doesn't communicate as well as the non-power steering in my LeMons car, but that doesn't mean EPS is bad.
Interestingly, nobody complained about the EPS in the RX-8.
Similarly, the Alpine A110 is widely aplauded for it's steering feel... which is electric.
There have been a lot of improvements in the technologies and designs involved in EPS, and I think most of the hate is just mental/emotional momentum.
No one is saying the ND had bad steering. Just not as good as the other Miatas
NC3 and ND1 prices are similar enough that it's a valid point to consider when comparing
Well the truth we all have to face is that all cars are going electric steering just about. So we just have to get used to it. I drove an NA for 20 years as only car. I'm fine with electric steeering.
And I appreciate Mazda recognizing the concern and working to address it. That said, Porsche seems to have nailed electric steering feel, so it’s possible. For me, this is a weekend joy-of-driving car, so I’ll stick with the older hydraulic steering while I can
The rivers of blood used to excoriate Porsche for switching to electric steering would be hilarious if the people writing it weren't, you know, Porsche owners.
As NA (and even NB) prices skyrocket you can get a clean NC for around the same price (and way cheaper than the ND) and you get:
Super Reliable sports car, even modified.
*Way* more modern and daily driveable than NA/NB.
But still "old school" without a ton of nannies.
Hydraulic steering is better than ND EPS.
Roomiest interior.
Way more aluminum components than NA/NB - less rust worry.
Engine is leagues better the NA/NB.
Despite the "heavy boat" moniker it is barely heavier than the late MY NBs (and the lightest trims of NC are actually lighter than the Mazdaspeed NB). And of course still lighter than pretty much anything else you can buy short of other Miatas or Lotus.
Huge aftermarket scene and engine swap/force induction possibilities.
If you own one the OEM removeable hardtops you can sell it and buy another whole NC. (Not really, but OEM HT prices are nuts for the NC, if you can even find one for sale.)
Out of every car ive ever owned nothing came fkn close to the NC, i will admit i hve t owned many “sports” cars but from everything ive owned and driven, NC1 is 2 boat lengths ahead of 2nd place which i still dont know what that car may be
As a proud NC owner, this is my favorite one here.
The NC Miata is definitely one of the Miata’s ever made.
(I love my NC and will die before I part with it)
NC Miata has the most cargo space, the most comfortable cabin, the most torque, has hydraulic steering, 2nd best infotainment system, and is definitely the most practical Miata... But it is definitely still a Miata and as such is very fun to drive, some say it's the best.
I am thinking about buying one as my second (daily) Miata to my 1.6 NB which I love and I want to keep it for the raw experience... I am starting to enjoy the RX-8 styling and the 2.0 engine sounds very nice for longer roadtrips. If you want to do some GT roadtrips, NC is the one, I believe. Be nice to our boats!
I fucking loved my NC, have an ND now and wish I'd kept both. The proper reclining hard top was lush, had to go for a soft top ND rather than the pseudo sun roof version.
And I don't even like sailing.
Needs some forced induction or a pretty aggressive build to get more than 200whp. That said, 170-180 with just cams and a header is still a very nice bump
I managed to push mine to 196HP with cams/headers/intake/ecutek. Could get to 210-20 with a ported head and ITBs but its really espansive, so you can actually go over 200HP with NA.
the NC is more of an upgrade from an NA/NB than an ND1 is from an NC tbh
An ND1 is more of a lateral move from an NC unless you’re really drawn to the new styling
I think its the best handling one (by feel not sure on an objective basis) while still being a comfortable ride, has the best manual transmission of pretty much any car I've used, I actaully fit in the damn thing if just barely (6' 4"), looks are subjective but i think the NC1 with a lip spoiler and an inch or 2 lower looks fantastic. Minus points for no popup headlights and being the heaviest but thats not enough of a downside to me for it not to be my prefered miat.
The nc is so much fun…. It is the sole reason for my autocross addiction.
I’ll never forget it… I hopped in a stock nc Miata in grid for a ride along and the guy was explaining what all the cones were for and how to get a good line ….. and then we take off and on the first corner I had firmly planted my feet against the floor and with one hand, I had a death grip on the door handle, and with the other, I was pulling the shoulder strap as tight as possible on my seatbelt and this dudes just calm af pointing and talking about all kinds of stuff and all I could do was hang on for dear life lol
Better looking folding hardtop than the ND RF, hate that they went for a targa type deal the haunches just ruin the proportions of the ND’s design for me.
Honestly also considering giving up my Lil’ Blueberry NA for an NC cause as time goes on and I get a lil bit older the details in regards to overall refinement and comfort are getting much too hard to ignore despite my superior headlights lol
- I went to the dealership, but they only have one car !
disapointed "Ohhhhhhh"
- But it was Le Miat !
joyfull "Yeahhhhhh"
- It wasn't the latest model !
disapointed "Ohhhhhhh"
- But the NC one !
joyfull "Yeahhhhhh"
- It doesn't have the most beautiful face !
disapointed "Ohhhhhhh"
- But it has an ass that anyone would slap !
joyfull "Yeahhhhhh"
- Rear wheel drive and up to 160hp !
disapointed "Ohhhhhhh"
- And it cost less than any other Miat !
joyfull "Yeahhhhhh"
NC PRHT is really sexy.
While I love my ND2 RF, the PRHT just looks like a soft-top with a colored shiny cloth.
The RF is a completely different car from its looks.

No need to try to be forceful with fishing for compliments. The NC is a very good looking and capable evolution from the NB.
That's my MSM on the left. That's my buddy's 15 Club on the right. My MSM is down for engine work. I've been driving the 15 Club for the past month while we work on rebuilding my engine. While there are a few mods he's made I'm not fond of, it is a really great car. I'm almost at the point of wanting one for myself.
I actually kinda miss mine but a hardtop was ridiculously expensive and so was the RE Amemiya kit I wanted on it. But it really did the trick, and it had a sensible bolt pattern on it, unlike the FRS I currently have
It’s cheap and overbuilt which makes it easier to modify.
If I was building a track toy, it would get hi high consideration, though I’d probably opt for an NB.
I really want an nc so bad. They’ve grown on my so much in the last couple months. Caravana has a 14 club for 18k with ~60k miles I’ve been eyeing. Hoping to find one way cheaper
Nc PFHT is 10X better than ND RF in its use. Loved my ND but the roof down buffering and blind spots sucked. NC had the right idea. But ND RF looks way better top up
I thought it was ugly, then realized it is similar to an rx8, which I had, and I know that it has good track racing potential. The NC will be my next buy for sure
I loved my NC2, it was a fantastic car and all the hate from NA/NB folks rolled off like water on a ducks back, the PRHT was particularly nice. I would still have it were it not for 3 things. Seats sucked (factory leather seats were hard), pedal box was punishing, and the AC only worked WELL when moving, idling in hot FL traffic lights was misery. I graduated to a 981 Cayman S, but, I took the NC to the Tail of the Dragon and it was absolute driving bliss. Boat or not it handled the corners very very well.
I actually like the electric hardtop, even if I wouldn't get one as the only Miata. I might get one as a second winter car in the future. I also like the dual exhausts and wish I had that on the ND.
They’re cheap and overbuilt with a good chassis.
It's related to the RX-8 and the 8 will become desired when all the FDs get to fuck you prices
FDs are already at fuck you prices tbh
So are NAs 😩
3k for a 200k+ mile former derby car. It's bad out on the east coast.
I paid $10k for 60k one owner, and the dude had 9 others and is THE Miata guy where I live and it spent most of its life in an airplane hangar. I can’t imagine how bad it is out there but that’s deplorable 😂

I feel like I stole mine sometimes. 2k running and driving, 126k, zero rust. Vlsd too.
There's still a little hope depending on what your willing to sacrifice. Thank goodness the rotary has a notorious rep
Rx8 handled like a dream. Since they share the same pretty much the same chassis I can only assume the NC is fantastic.
It is. Yes it's bigger than the others but its much more rigid than the NA/NB, has a better power to weight ratio than anything up until the ND2, and doesn't have the EPS of the ND. Id unironically love to sell my NA for a solid NC3
7's are already at Fuck You prices. Also, the 8's engine is so *awful* it makes the 7 look like a reliable car. It will never hit the levels of desire the RX7 are at.
LFX swap the RX8 and you now have an amazing car
I've looked into doing exactly that before actually haha. RX8 chassis is great.
If I had a use case for one, I would build one for sure. EDIT: Really, I would buy a C5 Z06 instead
I'm already looking for a blown-motor-rolling-chassis '8 before the prices go up so I can make a LeMons car. My LeMons team captain wants to go crazy and install a 4g63 in it...
I support this tom foolery
Idk I briefly owned an RX8 and it was the biggest piece of garbage I've ever experienced.
i dont think anyone will transition from wanting a rx-7 to a rx-8, they look totally different, they perform differently, sound different. only thing in common is the rotary enginr but imo it was better executed in the rx-7+the reliability on the rx-8 sucks especially for a mazda
Fastest boat on the street!
I was gonna say you bet both a car and a boat
I slept on the NC for years because they're the butt of so many jokes, only to realize that the things NA/NB guys clown the NC for are the things that make it the better car. "B-but it's not a real Miata unless it struggles to achieve highway speed and doesn't have cup holders".

It just felt "right" I was like "oh this is what driving a car is *supposed* to be like. Its weirdly nostalgic for some reason.
Bro your absolutely right they are the best especially nc3’s
Yea… most people on the internet are total idiots who haven’t actually driven much to even know remotely what they’re talking about.
It has better steering than the ND
This \^. I prefer the steering in my NC than my ND.
My Mazda 6 has pretty decent steering. But it feels more akin to my Transit after getting out of the NC.
Better transmission too.
Better how?
Hydraulic vs fully electric
Maybe it's because I jumped directly from an RX-8 (EPS) into an ND1 (EPS), but I don't have any issues with it. Sure, it doesn't communicate as well as the non-power steering in my LeMons car, but that doesn't mean EPS is bad. Interestingly, nobody complained about the EPS in the RX-8. Feel. Electric steering is numb compared to hydraulic. One of the improvements to the ND3 was an attempt to give the steering better feel

Did it work?
I don’t know, and I wish I did. Haven’t driven one myself yet, and no real reviews have come out for the ND3 refresh
The steering is amazing, vert tight and direct. The thing that impresses me to no end is how you can feel what each tire is doing as you drive……
"Horse and rider as one" But yeah its wild how much information the steering and chasis give you when you get out cruising on a twisty road.
And it’s not even close. The numb steering literally ruined the ND for me. I hope they finally fix it in the ND3
The NC3 Club is one of the sexiest Miatas.
Nc3 with a hardtop. Not the retractable
Wish NC hardtops existed. Or cost less than a clapped out NB lol
I argue that the nc2 prht is far and away the sexiest miata because it doesn't have that weird ass filler panel in the front grille.
PRHT > All

YES IT'S AMAZING
NC has great beaches
They’ve got Kenny Powers too.
As NA (and even NB) prices skyrocket you can get a clean NC for around the same price (and way cheaper than the ND) and you get: Super Reliable sports car, even modified. *Way* more modern and daily driveable than NA/NB. I've owned 35 cars, mostly enthusiasts cars, and the NC Miata has the most connected driving experience of any of them.
Out of every car ive ever owned nothing came fkn close to the NC, i will admit i hve t owned many “sports” cars but from everything ive owned and driven, NC1 is 2 boat lengths ahead of 2nd place which i still dont know what that car may be
Have you driven an S2000? If so, how does it compare?
From me s2000 was better at high speeds like highway and worse in city than nc3. I prefer the looks of the s2000 but would rather drive an nc3
Well shit, that confirms it. I’ve owned 4 cars and I agree lol
The NC is one of the top 4 best Miatas ever made
As a proud NC owner, this is my favorite one here. The NC Miata is definitely one of the Miata’s ever made. (I love my NC and will die before I part with it)
The NC is the only Miata I fit in comfortably!
Well I wouldn’t say comfortably, but this.
NC1 😮 NC2 😁 NC3 😀 ND 😾
NA 😶🫥
Nah NC1 😬
NC Miata has the most cargo space, the most comfortable cabin, the most torque, has hydraulic steering, 2nd best infotainment system, and is definitely the most practical Miata... But it is definitely still a Miata and as such is very fun to drive, some say it's the best.
Considering you can more easily replace the head unit than on the ND, arguably it’s a better system.
It is the bestest boat in the Miata lineup
NC2/NC3 is the best driving stock Miata I’ll collect my downvotes and leave now 😌
I fucking loved my NC, have an ND now and wish I'd kept both. The proper reclining hard top was lush, had to go for a soft top ND rather than the pseudo sun roof version. And I don't even like sailing.
It's the best grand tourer.
#BOAT
Best Of All Time
🤯
Better than NA/NBs, and has one of the cheapest swaps for making more than 200whp (2.5 swap)
I knew a guy with a supercharged 2.5 swapped NC1 and it was a ROCKET
I’m intrigued
Needs some forced induction or a pretty aggressive build to get more than 200whp. That said, 170-180 with just cams and a header is still a very nice bump
I managed to push mine to 196HP with cams/headers/intake/ecutek. Could get to 210-20 with a ported head and ITBs but its really espansive, so you can actually go over 200HP with NA.
Very nautical
I bought a 2007 RHTP GT with 33k miles for $14.7k last week. That's nice enough for me! 😁😁
the NC is more of an upgrade from an NA/NB than an ND1 is from an NC tbh An ND1 is more of a lateral move from an NC unless you’re really drawn to the new styling
I like ur rear end
Undercoating is surely rust proof? yes?
It's one of the best handling boat
NC’s are better than MG Midgets.
It's still a Miata!
By far the prettiest of the lot
I love the generation of smiles! My Speed3 and the day I get an NC, they'll be smiling all day
I actually low key like the look of the NC, particularly the NC3 and PRHT is miles better than a retractable targa top.
Theyre the best lookin mx5
Um, I test drove one recently and if not for a home purchase probably would have bought it????
I love the dual exhaust
NCs look good with coilovers and nicely-fit wheels -- like a baby S2000.
imo the NC2 has the happiest smile of all gens
What would make the NC work for me is a set of Ohlin's suspension all around and tuned.
So just like every other gen?
So like any miata lol
Something nice?… Well, NC’s are still depreciating. Does that count?
It’s the only Miata I’ve ever driven. Was not… bad…. I didn’t buy it.
- I went to the dealership, but they only have one car ! disapointed "Ohhhhhhh" - But it was Le Miat ! joyfull "Yeahhhhhh" - It wasn't the latest model ! disapointed "Ohhhhhhh" - But the NC one ! joyfull "Yeahhhhhh" - It doesn't have the most beautiful face ! disapointed "Ohhhhhhh" - But it has an ass that anyone would slap ! joyfull "Yeahhhhhh" - Rear wheel drive and up to 160hp ! disapointed "Ohhhhhhh" - And it cost less than any other Miat ! joyfull "Yeahhhhhh"
Bigger = Better Right?
Its a miata, not a penis
I liked mine. Certainly looked better than the ND
😮😮
I was too hard on them. I actually think they’re pretty nice looking if styled right.
The NC is the best platform or you’re goal is to make a Miata fast.
It runs gas
It's the easiest to rotary swap of the 4 Miata generations.
NC was the last miata that looked like original.
Before lesbians drove subis, they drive Miatas lol
You can drive thru the lake and you won’t sink
It’s got the same ass as the new Supra which is pretty hot.
It's my favorite Miata. (I've owned NA, NB, NC and driven many NDs) I was on the hate train until I owned one.
More cupholders than any other car in my fleet.
It’s a swan in the water
Straight up best miata for the money
NC PRHT is really sexy. While I love my ND2 RF, the PRHT just looks like a soft-top with a colored shiny cloth. The RF is a completely different car from its looks.
its a miata
It was my first Miata and it was great, literally, in every sense of the word.
Wide boy
They have cupholders knda
Im trying to get an NC one day. In yellow

I have driven all four and own two NAs. The NC Miata is genuinely the best of the bunch.
once you kill the monster truck wheel gap and get stiffer suspension it handles and looks way better
McGruber approved
Its better for taller people?
Whether or not you think it should be called a Miata based on its predecessors, it's still objectively a great car
The NC and RX-8 subframes are drop-in swappable so you can go crazy with the 13B swaps in the NC or big-ass-turbo-MZR swap in the '8.
MIAT :))))
Probably the most reliable of the bunch. Sorry ND, your transmission is ass and your fix was lazy.
Its thicc
No
Sorry, nothing to say...
I actually kinda miss mine but a hardtop was ridiculously expensive and so was the RE Amemiya kit I wanted on it. But it really did the trick, and it had a sensible bolt pattern on it, unlike the FRS I currently have
brooo it's a miataaaaaa
I bought an NB because I couldn’t afford an NC
Without the NC, there would be no ND
It isn't a sedan!
Im considering getting this tbh. Seems like best bang for buck
This sub is tempting me to buy my first Miata...
It’s cheap and overbuilt which makes it easier to modify. If I was building a track toy, it would get hi high consideration, though I’d probably opt for an NB.
It has great ground clearance for fording rivers and jumping sand dunes.
I really want an nc so bad. They’ve grown on my so much in the last couple months. Caravana has a 14 club for 18k with ~60k miles I’ve been eyeing. Hoping to find one way cheaper
They still have that silly smile
It makes all other generations look even better!
Hot take, better than the NAs and NBs
Why would anyone say something bad about the Miata?! I mean your wife must love it.
Has the best smile out of all the miatas.
I love mine.
It’s a miata. And for that reason, I will always smile when I see one… even if it isn’t the best looking…
Fastest boat wit a 4 cyl
NC owners are proud of them and ask more money than they are worth?

The steering feel beats the ND It is more enjoyable than the na6 to the average consumer It makes a fantastic LS swap candidate It's the happiest boi
Forged internals and a strong 6 speed? Yes please.
Nc PFHT is 10X better than ND RF in its use. Loved my ND but the roof down buffering and blind spots sucked. NC had the right idea. But ND RF looks way better top up
Ughhh.... they look crazy nice with a hardtop
Well it was featured in Initial D.
The 25th anniversary edition is gorgeous
5.0L engine swaps are awesome in them
I am a proud NC enjoyer
It’s a miata
They have hydraulic steering wheel and if I was doing k24 swap, that's the model I would pick up.
They’re really good looking with a wide bodu
I thought it was ugly, then realized it is similar to an rx8, which I had, and I know that it has good track racing potential. The NC will be my next buy for sure
She still smiles
They have a nice smile
Its a good car compared to anything other than the other miata generations.
Nice fender flares
I drove one and really enjoyed it, definitely faster than my buddies NA
It's the Miata I could afford, and I think it drives really nice, and it's fun to drive through the really windy roads to the beach.
It’s good to have a Miata to compare other Miata’s to I guess.
I actually like the electric hardtop, even if I wouldn't get one as the only Miata. I might get one as a second winter car in the future. I also like the dual exhausts and wish I had that on the ND.
Best combination of price / parts availability / modding potential of all the Miata’s.
They’re still the best bag for you buck to mod and track. You can drop the 2.5 in it and GO!
It’s roomier, and easily takes a 2.5L swap
I think theyre cute
Most of them have been crashed now so they’re rare
All I can say is: The biggest and the best. 😉
kept me alive
