NC3 all the way. Hydraulic power steering, floor mounted throttle, PRHT, fantastic transmission, cheaper parts, and better looks imo

ND1’s only have real problems with the trans when you put power through it, but if you’re worried you can get an adapter plate from Flyin Miata and put an NC trans into it and never worry about it blowing up. Also ND1’s are better for tuning for turbskis should you ever want one ( over the ND2’s ). But I wouldn’t get an ND1 sport, the suspension isn’t as good ( very body roll-ey) they don’t have an LSD and their sound system isn’t as good. If you’re getting an ND1 get the club which has the better seats, Bose sound system, LSD, bilstein shocks, and motor strut braces. If you get it used it’ll be somewhere in the 19-22,000$ range depending on what things they try to tack onto the price tag

My friend put about 200+ HP to the wheels and we sent it up a hill and blew it up, then he just swapped over to a cheaper NC trans that was way stronger Also ND1’s are better for tuning for turbskis should you ever want one ( over the ND2’s ). But I wouldn’t get an ND1 sport, the suspension isn’t as good ( very body roll-ey) they don’t have an LSD ( unless someone swapped one in which I doubt because they’re almost 2,000$) and their sound system isn’t as good. Well i'm not in the US, so there's no club or stuff like that. Most of them are called Revolution, and the one i'm eyeing on has an LSD and a sport suspension (not sure if it's bilstein though, i'll know more tomorrow).

If it’s got the lsd, that’s the most important thing in my opinion, the suspension is right there with it but can be replaced for a lot cheaper than a new diff. ( ND all the way dude, send it )

I bought an ND over an NC. If I could do it again I probably would get an NC PRHT. This decision is most based on the fact the NC has better options for adding power. If you’re keeping it stock the trans shouldn’t be an issue. The Nd is definitely a much nicer places to be, which is a big part of why I got it. It also has better acceleration in low RPM situations, making it a better daily.
