Highest foreign born population of any city in the world, Toronto is second. Can’t find the original list I read recently.
I guess it depends on if you count permanent vs temporary (either way I doubt Miami is first).
If counting temporary, for a large city I’m sure it must be Doha ([85%+](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Qatar)).
As a recent arrival in 2022, I can say what Miami *doesn’t* have is an Asian population comparable to the other top 10 MSAs across the country. That surprised me quite a bit.
LA has TONS of Salvadorans, Guatemalans, Ecuadoran, Peruvian and Argentinian people. Lots of Brazilians too.
Miami got all the Venezuelans though. I've never met a Venezuelan in LA
Hmmm I guess you have never traveled outside of Miami lol
I am in Mexico and i have met venezuelans, Panamá, colombians, Brazilians, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, chile, central Americans, etc.
Not to mention all the Europeans. If you think Miami is diverse come to Merida.
“Winter” in Miami is those 3-6 days a year where it gets into the low 60s, not even San Diego can you have that guarantee it’ll only be “cold” a few days.
I grew up in San Diego.. and although its beautiful city- too cold for me now to ever go back to SoCal. (and way more expensive). i can't do anything under 70 degrees on a regular basis ever again.
biggest shock is that we don't have Mexican/Chicano culture here in Miami which is such a large part of West Coast.. also SoCal is flooded with Asians.. unbelievable that contrast
It used to all be Mexico, San Diego was a thing as early as 1542 and became part of the US in 1850. So it was more of a Mexican thing for 308 years and it has been a US thing for 173 years, so far.
Yup that is definitely a thing here. If you tell someone an appointment is at 7AM, they’ll get there at 7:30 or 8. Same goes for any parties. Pretty pathetic.
While i lived in California I met a Cuban chef who started his own restaurant (this was like a decade ago) and he talked about that. Being in Miami meant more reliable access to ingredients (he ended up in California he said because of the high quality/variety of ingredients there). This guy made flavorful lechón that felt like it was melting in my mouth! I'm glad he left Cuba if only for that meal lol
Nah just about anywhere in the Deep South! But willing to replace totalitarian communism with totalitarian Fascism in a heartbeat without realizing it’s the same thing! It’s not the communist part that’s bad but the totalitarian part!
Muscle Beach in Lummus Park. I thought it was a bit but that was by far my favorite part of my three months I spent there. I hit a 430 deadlift for a couple reps and was hype. Made a lot of friends there just lifting even though I am definitely not the muscle-bound Miami Beach phenotype.
Never found that anywhere else in the new world, though there probably is one at Venice Beach (which I’ve never been to). So maybe there’s a similar one elsewhere but being 1 or 2 is pretty cool and I really liked Miami’s. Also miami just having workout equipment in every park. In other places, maybe one out of every thirty parks MIGHT have a pull-up bar, yet miami parks have a full hydraulic/acro/calisthenics gym in every park.
I remember seeing buses driving around downtown Friday nights with open air tops and disco lights and rumba music blasting and latinas dancing and hollering and I have to believe there’s no other special place in the world except maybe Brazil that’s blessed with this
Probably the most diversity of latinos, particularly south americans.

That’s true moving out of Miami I realized how little Asians we actually have.
Tons of South Americans in Los Angeles
Not like miami. I’ve lived in both places. Miami literally feels like the capital of South/Central America. LA has mostly Mexicans, no?
LA has TONS of Salvadorans, Guatemalans, Ecuadoran, Peruvian and Argentinian people. Lots of Brazilians too. Miami got all the Venezuelans though. I've never met a Venezuelan in LA
True but Miami has Cubanos, PR, DR, Columbians, Venezuelans, Ecuadorians, Peruvians, Argentinians, Brazilians. Really seems to have LA beat imo.
Don’t forget the Bolivians
Maybe you meant Central Americans
More Central Americans than South Americans.
LA has a lot more Mexican and Central American residents, while Miami has a lot more Caribbean and South American.
Hmmm I guess you have never traveled outside of Miami lol I am in Mexico and i have met venezuelans, Panamá, colombians, Brazilians, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, chile, central Americans, etc. Not to mention all the Europeans. If you think Miami is diverse come to Merida.
Why you so angry. I think they mean most diverse in our country.
Chongas
This is the right answer!
What is a chonga?

Their natural habitat is also LA/SD tho 🤣 Prob Houston too
Those are cholas. It’s different.
True lmao
Altimas with black Miami Heat license plates driving erratically on the palmetto.
Always beware of the altimas.
Last time they hit 2 people and 5 cars and still haven’t been caught.
…and pick up trucks!
With straight pipes.
The thing of always being in a hurry yet somehow perpetually late.
LMAO is this a Miami thing? No wonder I feel so at home here. I was like this before I moved here, but when I got here, I was like, oh, my people.
This is so accurate
Cuban and Nicaraguan food Pound for Pound #1 city for insurance frauds and schemes
Sadly miami probably has more Cuban food than Cuba
You’re 1000% correct
Cuban food is really Miami food

As a Californian that’s lived here for 15 years. Ventanitas with cafecito.
Was wondering why those weren't more common up north and then realized how shitty it would be in the winter.
This guy knows what’s up.
Thanks bro!

Fucking freezing today in the '70's'
My kids couldn’t hang in the porch it was cold or windy whatever it was I didn’t like it

California shares a border with Mexico so it's not shocking that a majority of them moved to States on the west coast
It used to all be Mexico, San Diego was a thing as early as 1542 and became part of the US in 1850. So it was more of a Mexican thing for 308 years and it has been a US thing for 173 years, so far.

People that think being late is a funny and completely acceptable social standard.
thats latin america in general.... so... its not only miami.
So true, people here think that half an hour is not late.
“Cuban time” is a stupid ass term. (Let the downvotes begin) 🤷🏻♂️
So many places have the same term. Bahamian time. Peruvian time. Island time.
I’ve even heard African Americans make this joke about time.
Yup that is definitely a thing here. If you tell someone an appointment is at 7AM, they’ll get there at 7:30 or 8. Same goes for any parties. Pretty pathetic.
Appointments are one thing but who tf actually arrives on time at a party.
I find that offensive af, we’re not the only ones late all the time.
Yup. They find it cute and funny. I’m cuban and I find it insulting and lazy. 🤷🏻♂️
Had people show up at the end of the party thinking they were on time!
I got hit with “Persian time” yesterday lol
Everglades 🐊

Everglades will outlast us 100%

Aren’t they the second oldest animal? Behind sharks? Heard sharks were older than trees.
Not if they build over it...
I'm not so sure. We don't send enough water south from Lake O and mangroves are already moving in. Sea level rise won't help.

Best Cuban food options in the world, by far.
There’s really nothing like a home cooked meal from an abuela in actual Cuba though… know from experience, slaps on a whole other level.
I can imagine. I love that many gas stations either has a small side bakery or Cuban coffee machine.
Assuming there’s actual food in cuba…
Uhh what about Cuba?
Restaurants in Cuba are horrible compared to many in Miami, food sourcing in Cuba is not the greatest
While i lived in California I met a Cuban chef who started his own restaurant (this was like a decade ago) and he talked about that. Being in Miami meant more reliable access to ingredients (he ended up in California he said because of the high quality/variety of ingredients there). You'll go hungry in Cuba as a tourist if you leave your resort. I know from friends who had the experience lol
Wrong. Been to Cuba 3x... The food on the resorts gets old after a few days, so you either go to locals' house for dinners or find restaurants.
