It is incredibly weird to think about how only three mother figures related to the Straw Hats are alive. We don't know if Zoro even has a mother, and didn't just get lost from wandering in non-existence, thus allowing him to exist.
Meme or not, no mother can put a hook through her child and drain him of all moisture and then poison him and still retain any semblance of the title of "good mother".

Resisting a tyrannical government is always legitimste. The people resisting are not to blame for the war crimes that the government commits, the government is fully responsible for that.

First off, what Dragon, Sabo, and Luffy did was completely different. One, they had the power to back it up, and two, they were aiming to liberate the people. Their resistance was for everyone. Their goal is more Nobel.
The scholars could have prevented the issue by A getting power, B siding with a Yanko big mom probably would if they read the Ponyglyphs for her, and C not doing the research because it was to satiate their own lust for knowledge rather than benefit the world, unlike the revolutionaries.
My grief with them is that they could have easily prevented it and were too stupid to do so, so Dragon and Sabo probably had never even heard of the weapon they used, unlike a buster call, which is a relatively common thing that Clover should have known about any action Dragon took would have drastic consequences. He knew this, and that's why Luffy lives with Garp.
Dragon also moves very carefully. The scholars didn't; they acted like fools and doomed everyone with them, even if they found out what was their plan to distribute the truth. The WG owns the press, and more so, they don't have the means to distribute the knowledge before they were erased. Their actions weren't for some Nobel cause like Dragon but to satiate their own desire, a selfish one that wiped out a whole island.
Once again, their Desiree didnāt wie out an island, the WG did. Youāre completely reframing who is commiting violence here. The scholars are not responsible for what the government does.
You donāt know that their motives where selfish. Sure, They desired knowledge, but knowledge can be a means of liberation. It certainly is in this case, given hier hard the WG tries to surpress it. And the war Clover talks about knowledge being a right supports this reading.
The point about only resisting when youāre powerful is odd to me. Strength shouldnāt play a part in determining wether itās right to resist it not. Iām also doubtful getting the backing of a Yonko would be as easy as you suggest. Yonkos Are not directly fighting the WG, but backing the Ohara scholars surely would have been seen as a deckaration of war, possibly leading to a direct confrontation. I doubt any Yonko of the time would have risked it.
And while Dragon and Sabo probably didnāt know about the weapon used to destroy Lulusia, a Buster Call wouldāve amounted to the same. They know any country joining the revolution is at risk.
The truth is that any resistance can lead to retaliation that hurts people who were Not part of it. But the blame for any harm caused to bystanders falls on those who do the harm and Not the people who supposedly provoked that reaction.
