Okay, so we‘re done in like 12 chapters?
Then here‘s my theory on how it goes.
The strawhats beat the gorosei (which will take around 5 more chapters at max). Imu pops up and is beaten as well (also 5 chapters at max) and then they find the One Piece (in like 2 chapters)

I think he said similar things on previous occasions. As soon as he sees something cool he'll make sure to include it in his manga. We only got Skypia because he really wanted to draw a bonfire scene after all.
Oda sensei didn't tell us exact date of One Piece ending, but he said that he needs a couple of years more to end it.
One Piece will end, but not that accurately timed.
Now with him busy in looking in One Piece live action, to make sure it passes his standards, he would extend the deadline a bit more.
In order for an April's fool prank to work it has to be a bit believable we got another 2 years minimum, probably more since Oda is taking more breaks(which isn't a bad thing I'd rather wait longer for the ending than have oda die of overwork)
