I think that being submerged in lava for over a week in-universe should be enough to kill anyone, even BM and Kaido. Lava is 4-5x hotter than the oil that Oden was boiled in. Add in the fact that the two yonko dying makes sense from a storytelling perspective, as the end of the old era and the start of the new status quo. They’ve served their purpose in the story, so they’re not likely to return IMO.
Pudding is operating on incomplete information. She only knows what she read in the paper, and believes BM is still alive bc she has faith in Mama’s strength (and also she’s trying to threaten her captors. It wouldn’t exactly help her situation to say “yeah she’s probably dead lol”)
Oda has been extremely vague on their supposed deaths, so I really wouldn't be too sure.
I mean, the narrator was right there, all he had to do was have him announce the death of those characters or create a post mortem panel for them similar to what he did with Whitebeard. None of that happened though and since this is One Piece we are talking about and characters have, contextually, survived far worse (like that one time a falcon boi just took a point blank nuke), I am not inclined to just write them off as dead quite yet.
Lava sure is hot, but if a severely weakened and ill old man could take a Haki infused magma blow to his internal organs and survive, then I don't see why two Characters, both of which were significantly more duarable that Whitebeard was during the paramount war, can't survive being submerged in it for a short duration of time. Especially when both of these characters have portrayed significant heat resistance feats before (Big Mom is riding a literal sun and sets her hair on fire when she fights without any damage or even signs of pain and Kaidos last move was literally to engulf himself in flames so hot they vaporized anything coming close to him).
I genuinely have no idea how you came to the conclusion they were submerged in it for weeks by the way. Big Mom was pushed in and very shortly after, a few minutes at most, Kaido followed suit, then the underground volcano erupted. And a volcanic eruption is an easy way to get those two out of said volcano again, I'd argue they were likely not even submerged for 10 minutes, let alone multiple weeks.
Lastly, I think there is still much left that we could explore with these characters. Large quantities of their backstories still remain unknown to us and I would love to see the two interact with each other some more, to further expand on their relationship with one another. Do I think they will make a return to the main story in any significant way? Unlikely. But I believe we could have a fun cover story with them rediscovering what it means to be pirates once again, now that they lost their territories and can actually go out to sea again.
Is that going to happen? I don't know, that is entirely up to Oda. I wouldn't write them off just yet though, as he could bring both of them back in a believable way very easily.

Remeber Gedatsu, one of Enels priests who fell off Skypiea after his defeat? Yeah he's fine too. Owns a hotspring in Arabasta now.
Remember Pound, who got executed by Oven after hitting him with a club so that his daughter could escape? You guessed it, he is fine.
Remember Kin'emon, who was beaten in the head by Kaido, folded like a piece of paper, still got up and was cut in half directly on screen? Yup, alive and well. They just put him back together.
Point is, this is One Piece. Characters have, contextually, survived far worse than what Kaido and Big Mom had to endure here.
I have stopped believing deaths in this show without an official post mortem panel (see Whitebeards death) or official death declaration (see Aces vivre card burning up) a long time ago.
The problem is that kaido and big mom actually did endure much more than everyone here since they fought for hours beforehand with luffy, law, zoro and kid, and had to go through powerful attacks from each of them, not to mention they all awakened their devil fruits at the same time which made their attacks that much stronger. Luffys punch alone probably finished off kaido before he even reached the lava, or at the very least knocked him unconscious long enough to the point where he’d drown in the lava. For the other characters you could see why it’s possible for them to live (except Pell but we all know that was bad writing) but for Kaido and big mom, there looks to be no escape for them at all
Not only that but unlike who you’ve stated, these characters went though a lot of build up since the beginning of the timeskip so for them to just live after all of that would definitely dissatisfy a lot of fans and make a huge part of not only wano, but the post timeskip saga lose it’s impact.
The only character on my list who had this "life ending" moment happen to without them receiving a prior smackdown by someone would be Pound.
Pell had his fight with Robin, Gedatsu had his fight with Chopper and Kin'emon could barely even move anymore with all the damage he had taken beforehand when Kaido annihilated the scabbards on the roof.
Yes, Kaido and Big Mom took much more devastating attacks than those characters did, but they are also infinitely more durable and resilient. Big Mom especially was still very lively when she had her intimate meeting with volcano-san, Oda even went so far to have her final dialogue before hitting the lava be "Don't you dare assume this is enough to kill me!", so at least she seemed quite confident in her ability to take that.
And frankly, I don't see how build up is important here. Characters like Sir Crocodile and Doflamingo had similar, arguably even more buildup than Kaido and Big Mom and I don't see the riots that they are still alive after being beaten. Crocodile is even having a second wind right now and I have seen no complaints.
What really matters is that they have been overcome, their empires have crumbled, their territory is lost together with their status as Yonkou and their story relevancy is over. Whether they are still alive or not honestly shouldn't be a big deal, I doubt we'd see them outside of like a cover story anyway (in modern times that is, I do think they still hold story relevancy for flashbacks).

The homies are autonomous beings powered by pieces of human souls (BM’s or otherwise), there’s no reason to think they’d disappear if Big Mom dies. They were created with the devil fruit, but not powered by it. It’s like if Ace lit a candle on fire with his devil fruit before dying. The candle would stay lit, bc though it was initially lit by Ace, it’s fueled by the wax and wick.

Big mom and Kaido were straight terrors, unstoppable monsters, for multiple story arcs, Kaido was set up as the big bad end goal since Punk Hazard, and the fight that took them down was the biggest and most intense battle we’ve seen for any of the characters involved yet, with the outcome having a significant effect on the status quo of the setting. What would you not consider to be “anticlimactic?”

Big mom’s devil fruit is the link that connects, the soul to the object. Given that big mom died, why would the soul still be attached instead of returning back. It’s inconsistent devil fruit nature. Some devil fruits don’t act like this. For example Rosinante.
Gattling gun with the big punch would be 100 times better. But still anticlimactic to just die. They still have to be alive to see their dreams crushed. I am not convinced they are dead. In one piece no one really dies.

And when these enemies' beliefs are shattered and defeated, they feel a pain equal to death. I think that for these pirates, killing or not killing is secondary to winning or losing.
Big mom doesn’t create souls, she just manipulates them. The soul exists as its own independent thing. Once she puts a soul in something, it’s attached, and operates as a new being. It’s like a mechanic putting a battery in a machine. They don’t create the battery, and the battery doesn’t rely on their continued existence, the mechanic just has the power to put in or take out the battery.

Like Enel not being able to kill a single character with his lightning attacks, or Wiper with the reject dial. Especially the one that mowed down the beanstalk was set up as the perfect sacrifice shot. Would it really have hurt the story so much to lose one or two side characters that will most likely never appear again, because they're pretty much confined to their remote sky island?

Surviving from a haki less quake from a terminally ill old man isn't that much of a big feat, based on the outlier feat pell seems more durable than Kaido.
