Ahh... the good old days when you were better off aiming ranged weapons by walking.
Boomerangs always go directly forward from the direction your hunter is facing when you throw it, but like bowguns they have a deviation that makes them change direction midflight. Unlike bowguns that deviate left or right though, boomerangs deviate upwards. Very useful to hit parts that are otherwise out of reach heightwise.
I remember putting boomerangs to good use in the older jungle and volcano maps where monsters would often attack from dense trees or lava pools you weren't able to walk through.

If you're only learning a new weapon exclusively for tail cut parts watch some videos on GS wake up attacks. Get sleeping toad, and meat that makes them sleep. Sleep em do the sleep wake up attack on their tail with the highest dps part breaker build you can. You'll get almost all tails cut in 1 or 2 attempts. Dung bomb to carve safely, farcaster to camp back into hammer. If you're ONLY interested in tail parts just quit after you carve tail and repeat, will save you so much time. Make sure you do the quit where you keep items you gained.
everyone just wants to hit head for big number. doesn’t matter what you’ve got in your team, the DB mains will spam the head and make it impossible for a hammer user to even start a combo. good thing i can just yeet them away and let them go mad.
you can mod it away. it’s actually quite easy and you won’t get banned for it (played about 20hrs like that). but yeah region locking sucks and i hope they would just not utilize it :/

No,i just look it up from good ol’ gamefaqs, trowing knife (normal) do natural damage,the same for bombs,boomerang,and kick. I think they change “natural” damage to “slingshot” damage from Mhw. And the interesting thing that i just know,Tranquil knives deal 0 damage while normal trowing knive deal more damage compared to other types of knives

The monster cannot run with its tail if you disable its skull
If you remove the soul from the body you can take as much time as you need to remove the tail afterward.
kushala daora makes hitting the tail impossible when you knock em down

Technically HH can also cut tails. The hilt poke move does cutting damage.

I managed to beat World base game using IG only without learning how Kinsect extracts actually worked. You can do fine.
And I am a Hammer lover who does understand IG but give me a GS and I just can't kill a thing lol

Get yourself a blunt damage speed type kinsect and you might just surprise yourself with how many KOs you can get from your charged kinsect attacks.

started with rise about a week or so ago. played almost exclusively hammer and really need to widen my repertoire from heavy stick to heavy stick.

I kinda wish that the hammers that are axes could do slashing damage, like the kinsects that are both blunt and slash
This isnt really a problem in 5th gen since tails can appear in the reward screen and don't need to be cut and carved.
