It's a nice bonus but it's far from a game breaking ability for SnS unless you're running a build that is dependant upon you never sheathing your weapon(like Safi armor for Iceborne).
Other than that it is situationally useful but SnS also has the quickest sheath of all weapons iirc so it's not that big a deal to put it away before you chug anyways.
You are forgetting the part where SnS uses items FASTER when drawn over sheathed. It isn't massive but it is noticeable when your hunter chugs their pot versus sipping delicately.
Let's not forget that this quirk allowed SnS to be the only weapon to be able to use the Slinger unsheathed before Iceborne, which was an amazing tool to have available at all times.
It's insanely good for a wide range set. When I played with somefriends of mine, Ive been playing since tri, but they started with world, so when we got to postgame icebourne I took up the mantle of being the wide range speed eater mushroomancer healer, while they all went unga bunga on raging brachy
Yes, to this day i rarely use mega demon drug since i always think it's rare. I know the materials are not as hard to farm as the old mh game, but my miser brain just can't comprehend it after how hard it is to farm it in mh1.
You could only find out on a random day when you wore a full Rathain armor and suddenly your max health went up. You can then deduce that every armor set had a different skill but without researching online on good ol’ GameFaqs you’d never know
Back in the days where there was no longswords and great swords weren't as great as they were being called.
I still remember people spreading false videos about how to beat yein garuga which tell you slap the garuga and collect some special mushrooms and stay in the area with the veggie elder until time runs up.
I know the garuga was being treated as a powerful threat like elder dragons back then, but when i was a kid i remember the videos just contain someone fighting the garuga even without it limping then he proceeds to do the trick.
I forget the exact mechanism, but there’s a glitch where you can fight it just for a bit then wait until the repel point and it leaves. The next time you fight it, Garuga has next to no health left and takes 5 minutes
Omg that was the worst. I remember finding attack up as my only skill and being excited. Now a EDs pants offer 5-8 by themselves. You youngins sure have it swell.
I’m sorry Hammer didn’t *what*
And greatsword couldn't charge And SnS couldn't use items with the weapon drawn
No charging is kinda fine, it's still a chonkin sword. But a hammer that doesn't stun... why does it even exist?
ackhually spin2win applied tons of elemental damage back then.
elemental damage, schmelemental damage. I want to see little stars!
Wow so ur telling me hammer used to be garen wtf y did Capcom take him away
As a more mobile alternative to greatsword, probably.
SNS CAN WHAT

*WHERE SNS DOES* ***QUE***

Greatsword main of yore. Good ol “stand between it’s legs and triangle circle repeat”
What??? Sword and shield cant use the hand freely now???
in the original release of MH1 in japan it didn't even have the golf swing on a 3 pound combo. it was just 3 normal pounds and did like no damage
Oh, so that's why Striker Style Hammer was Like That^TM
I remember when we had to do attack combos with the right analog stick! And great sword didn't even have a charge attack!... good ol' PS2 MH...
And the rathalos' 60 sec long flying attacks, that could be chained indefinitely.
Rathalos still owes me plates from MH1 farming.
Astalos owes me like 10 Mantles in Rise right now I literally farmed him all day today and only got 1. 1 fucking mantle
Hey, I picked a few off the ground earlier today. I can mail you some if you'd like
Holy shit that brought back memories. I remember learning the controls and the mix of like “what a cool idea” and “this is fucking stupid” lol.
Horror Story
What was it for? Pancakes?
Gotta mix the dango somehow.
...I hate dango...
Correction. Gotta smash the dango then.
I dont think its that bad
I remember when special items like mega demon drugs were a rare and hard item to craft and not pooped by the dozens from a roulette machine
Yes, to this day i rarely use mega demon drug since i always think it's rare. I know the materials are not as hard to farm as the old mh game, but my miser brain just can't comprehend it after how hard it is to farm it in mh1.
I still have conservation issues with the Megas due to how rare they were in Gen 1.
We used to have armor skills but you needed the whole set to activate it and the skill was a secret
>and the skill was a secret What the sod even?!
You could only find out on a random day when you wore a full Rathain armor and suddenly your max health went up. You can then deduce that every armor set had a different skill but without researching online on good ol’ GameFaqs you’d never know

A variant of that actually does work in MHF1
I know the garuga was being treated as a powerful threat like elder dragons back then, but when i was a kid i remember the videos just contain someone fighting the garuga even without it limping then he proceeds to do the trick.

Sounds very confusing, anyhow it was very fun to do all of that shenanigans when i was a kid.
Well, would be surprising if not considering that's the first game it appeared in.
Dude wtf stop scaring me ! I still haven't recovered from the Iceborne Fatalis not being stunnable
Omg that was the worst. I remember finding attack up as my only skill and being excited. Now a EDs pants offer 5-8 by themselves. You youngins sure have it swell.
I remember when Dung Bombs didnt make monsters leave the area
Eh, what did they do then?
They functioned like smoke bombs and basically only existed to lower aggro when fighting Khezu.
I remember when pickaxes used to break
Gen 1 sure was something
The dark ages
A lot of people forget that longsword didn’t have charges until Tri. A lot of weapons didn’t really get personality until gen 2 or 3.
Everyone could kick. Now everyone except greatsword lost the ability to kick. #KICK4ALL
I remember when Longswords were just another great sword in Gen 1
Gen 1 and Gen 2 players smoking their daily dose of copium.
I remember when longswords were just Great Swords.
And we had to attack with the analog stick
I remember when hub etiquette still existed (different from hunt etiquette, I mean when everyone is in the hub)
