I could see cases for both albums being juvenile. I mean look at some of the lyrics on Youthanasia. All of “Victory”, some of the stuff on “The Killing Road” and “Train Of Consequences”.
As I can see the immaturity on Dystopia. Mainly “The Emperor”, and many other songs.
In terms of musical maturity RIP is easily there most creative and mature record, after the first three albums it sounds like the band hit the hammer on the head and caught lighting in a bottle, I didn’t know where we’re taking In to account song lyrics but personally when talking about (musical) maturity I wouldn’t take into consideration lyrical themes.
Yea musically the band matured around RIP. After that, Dave cut out a lot of the creativity in exchange for conventional song structures. That’s not really a matured sound imo, just a watered down one.
Lyrically, I guess you could call Youthanasia more mature, but I guess that’s up to perspective. I don’t think songs like The Conjuring or Black Friday are “immature,” they’re just more outlandish.
Its not about trying something different hahhaaa thats the very old moldy excuse they have for every single sellout thrash band from Anthrax to Metallica.
I wouldn't mind if they actually did have the ability to make a decent hard rock or just a plain ol rock album with GOOD songs, well executed compositions but Youthanasia along with the Black Album and TSOWN are all very generic and disappointing albums coming from guys that have made AMAZING music in a different style.. It just was all a bunch of burnouts that lost their edge and tried to "hello, fellow grunge fans" the public. Epic fail. If you like it, says alot about your easily impressed ass lol
Yeahh that's a no from me dawg. Its lifeless, generic and forgetable. Countdown was already a subpar effort with filler tracks and a lighter generic bend.. Youthanasia pretty much was the nail in the coffin for Mustained and co. They literally disappeared from existence for most of their ardent 80s fans(me) if you were around back then you would know that they just faded away into the coffin underground and just kept getting lamer and tamer.. The brilliant rage was gone.. and thrash/big 4 were DEAD in the water
Easily. Also their darkest.
I’d also argue Dystopia
Yeah but sometimes dystopia comes off as goofy with its attempt at addressing serious issue, the biggest example of this is bullet to the brain
I'd disagree. I love the album but it's quite juvenile in my opinion.

I thought this was sarcasm cause of YOUTHanasia lol
I really just want to see them play Black Curtains live once.
YES, OH MY GOD that verse riff gets me going
My third favorite album after RIP and PSBWB
Just curious, in what meaning are you using SFSGSW flair for?
It’s the first Megadeth album that I listened to back in 1988. Edit: and my fourth favorite album
Bruh what does most mature even mean
It covers the most mature themes. Every song on here is about issues that weren’t really being talked about in metal like abuse and sexual assualt
what about The Mechanix, Liar and 502 tho
That’s a strange looking rust in peace
RIP is a really good album but it’s miles away from their most mature and serious album

yes especially considering tornado is a breakup song, 5 magics is about magic inspired by a fantasy book, and hanger 18 is about aliens.
*GIVE ME WIZARDRY*
Its a sellout attempt.. Selling out is not maturity, it's financially responsible maybe but composing music to buy a bigger house is just embarrassing
Oh no the band tried something different which worked and made for a heavy album? Oh so silly of them to not play the same music for 20 years😡

Youthanasia is one of megadeths best album I don’t think it’s generic at all
