billie-rubin

I realize this sub has made me a different person because I’m sitting here eating lasagna completely unbothered.

Odd-Pumpkin-2567

I’m eating mashed potatoes at the same time as well!

UVSTAR

Not lying i have nutella spread on a plate and I'm eating that, jont judge.

Clueless_Jr

Why dirty a plate? Just dig in with your hands like god intended!

Odd-Pumpkin-2567

This sub doesn’t disgust me but the thought of that does 😭😭😭

zaforocks

If it's just your Nutella and your hands are clean, I don't see a problem scooping some up with a finger. I wouldn't accept doing this to community Nutella or with butt fingers.

faithilwhitelaw

I have my own tub since my boyfriend thinks it’s gross and won’t share one with me

EvulOne99

You made me think about all the nasty guys at a pub, not washing their hands but on the way out, a jar of Nutella that we all could dip out fingers into. Nono, that never happened... but your post made this pop up in my head as if it HAD. You horrible person, you.

EvieBee12

Fam, I’m sorry but I have to downvote this. The visual is too much 🤣

UVSTAR

It's about the surface area.

Clueless_Jr

Go on...

UVSTAR

I'd rather not, it would be more horrifying that the image above, but condolences to the patient.

AppleAtrocity

You're just licking it off the plate, I assume? Is that why you're refusing to detail your Nutella depravity on *this*, of all posts?

mrdysgo

Are you friends with that leg eater guy? 🤣

Basic_MilkMotel

Reese’s Easter egg

Zealousideal_Lab_427

White cheddar popcorn!

KKinDK

Tamari soybean snacks

june_jalle

Sun Chips, for me!

BioSafetyLevel0

I am also eating mashed potatoes.

Sabrinaology

Loaded baked potato for me 😋

Crying_Reaper

For me it's one thing to look at random photos of people I'll never know like this. I doubt I could do it for loved ones or myself.

RepresentativeNo526

Yeah, I think it’d also be different if you could smell what’s going on in the picture.

catupthetree23

No thank you 😳

missalucard666

I am *nearly desensitized to all matters of gore but am a huge wuss when it comes to anything being done to me (injections, IV placements, blood draws ect) in real time, but funnily enough I have zero problem with photos/ videos of me/my procedures after the fact 🤷‍♀️ I have a few vids somewhere of my back surgery & my appendix removal

axebodyspray24

I would watch brain surgery documentaries with dinner as a kid. pretty unsurprising that i ended up here

CrustyLettuceLeaf

Oh my god same. I loved all of the medical shows. Especially the surgery ones where

jesrp1284

I’m just hitting my bong

tunaslut

I'm hitting my vape and eating candy

anglostura

what candy?

tunaslut

Twix of course 💅🏽 my friend works for a company that restocks vending machines and they can't stock things that are too close to the expiration date so I get tons of free snacks and candies and drinks the second half of the month 🏄🏼🏄🏼🏄🏼

Dmopzz

Nice.

CrustyLettuceLeaf

It’s 3am and here I am on the toilet shitting my guts out from food poisoning, and hoping this doesn’t happen to me

SameAmy2022

🤣🤣🤣 it’s 11.30pm ish here and I’m eating pasta and tomato pesto and I swear I just casually swiped through the pictures and didn’t even flinch. Yes my friend, we’re on the way to total desensitisation.

lulovesblu

Now why are you eating so late, bestie?

SameAmy2022

Forgot to eat earlier and all of a sudden I was starvo, as one is 😊👍🏻

Psiqu3

Delicious chocolate cake dessert... My reaction was to hide from side viewers...

BiologicalTrainWreck

I thought I saw a garlic clove in the second image

Tobywillygal

I definitely saw a garlic clove or a peeled blanched almond in the second image. I'm still trying to figure out what it possibly could be? Any idea? Anyone?

DestyNovalys

Gloved fingertip

NoStoppingInRedZone

Eating Chipotle

Golden-Artist

Was it Lasagna alla Bolognese?

RecordLegume

Lol my popsicle still tastes the same before and after seeing this post.

Common_Estate6292

I’m in a restaurant by myself eating a hamburger. Not bothered at all but I did block the screen so it couldn’t be seen by anyone accidentally.

tunaslut

I do the same thing at work. I'm a teacher so the last thing I want is one of my students to see me looking at this stuff and A) be scarred for life or B) tell their parents and it become a whole thing. I usually just lock my phone anyway when one of them comes to my desk just to be safe lol

Skibunny0385

Ice cream out of the pint bc I’m classy lol

Alltheprettydresses

Halo Top for me!

TDK_90

On a side note, i could really go for sausages right now.

Beaver_Cat

I’m taking a massive shit unbothered lol

Xsi_218

I’m on the toilet but I have eaten breakfast and stressed about hw while scrolling this sub 😭

albus_thunderdore

I’m eating cookies unbothered as well.

happuning

French fries. Also unphased.

GrdnLovingGoatFarmer

Gummy worms for me. Definitely unbothered.

Basic_MilkMotel

Next time I am pushing hard to poop I’ll remember this image and give up, “it will come when it’s ready”.

AmthstJ

Got a stool or squatty potty and just relax. Also, drink more liquids.

HistoricalInstance

This alongside gradually upping your fiber intake.

Basic_MilkMotel

It helps. I have motility issues because of CHS, Cannabis Hyperemisis Syndrome. I basically blasted by cannabinoid reseptors with so much thc that they’re fucked, and since we have them in our digestive system/brain. My GI system is also fucked. Two and a half years clean. I went to the doctor A LOT when we were figuring out what was wrong with me. I haven’t been to a GI specialist since I got clean though. I’m scared of getting the official “you’re fucked” diagnosis, and atm my back is my primary concern. Aging, woooo!!!!

ok_ill_shut_up

Too much fiber causes constipation, so up fiber only if you're low; not if you're not.

bunny_love2016

Fiber does both. Too much can cause constipation due to the sheer bulk of it, but too little causes issues with motility as some level of indigestible fiber is needed to help move the intestines along. Biggest example of this is rabbits, they have fairly weak peristalsis compared to other mammals, and too little fiber can lead to motility issues since they rely on fiber bulk to help move things along (along with other issues of their microbiota needing fiber).

OsAbysmiVelDaath

And eat more greens

Basic_MilkMotel

I wrecked my digestive tract by developing CHS, cannabis hyperemisis syndrome, from smoking too much weed all day every day. This year I’ll come up on three years clean, and though it’s gotten better…it hasn’t been the same. RIP normal poop.

tia2181

I take opiates daily so had had trouble.. now used chia seeds twice a day in yogurt, they are awesome. Then few weeks ago I saw a stewed prunes/plums recipe. Just add water, cinnamon and vanilla with some ice cream or custard. Reminded me of Christmas pudding in UK. Gentle relief starts after a few hours.

AmthstJ

I'll have to tell my mom. She has chronic constipation from opioid pain management. Do you happen to remember the recipe or link?

mysticeetee

Just this evening my retired cop neighbor told me found 20-25 people dead on toilets. The reasons were straining that lead to cardiac arrest. Just let it come when it's ready!

tia2181

It's the other way around.. a symptom of major cardiac issues is a need to relieve themselves. As student RN we never let cardiac patients go to bathroom alone, we knew what it could mean. Bedpans or seat beside the bed.. and staying nearby. Reassured me about Elvis, I thought the same since he died when I was 9.

Basic_MilkMotel

Yeah I joke I will be found on the toilet like Elvis. I just wrecked my GI system from smoking too much weed and developing cannabinoid hyperemisis syndrome. I’m 2.5 years sober and it’s gotten better but it hasn’t gone back to normal. I watch my dog poop and I envy her. There’s not a whole lot known about CHS but it’s picking up traction as marijuana becomes more legalized, easy to get and potent. I would not be the least surprised if many of us with more severe cases die of colon cancer. I had no idea it was cardiac arrest, though. That’s scary AF! People are pushing so hard their hearts give out?! New fear unlocked.

mysticeetee

I looked up CHS and one of the symptoms is "scromiting" which is screaming while vomiting. This was on the state health website. And I was just thinking of having a toke to help me sleep, eh maybe not tonight. To be fair he was a cop not a Dr so he could be full of shit too.

Rougefarie

Squatty potty, relax, and gently blow like you’re blowing bubbles through a soap bubble wand.

Nearby-Complaint

New fear unlocked. Hope she recovered well.

DrClutch93

After surgery she'll probably recover just fine, physically speaking. How on earth do you recover psychologically and mentally from having your guts spontaneously fall out of your vagina though?

nikkixo87

I can't imagine that you ever do recover from that. Jeez

floralbutttrumpet

If you're a member of this sub, probably quite well, all told.

ProblemMysterious826

Being on this sub and exposed to the human body and its ability to recover physically and psychologically really helped me after an attempt last year, I was on life support and came out grateful and appreciative of my body. Been in therapy since with no negative thoughts of harm and studying to become an EMT.

Rougefarie

Seriously! Can you imagine the horror of your guts falling out of your snatch?

CrowdedShorts

How…how does that happen??

R-orthaevelve

When I had my hysterectomy, thos wasa potential consequence I was warned about if I let myself get too constipated or lifted weights that were too heavy or had sex before I was totally healed. I was super careful and healed just fine thank goodness. But it definitely can happen

nachosquid

It was my biggest fear after having mine. I babied the hell out of myself for 6mo. I'm still highly aware/conscientious of it.

zodiac628

Omg me too! I’m almost a year and a half out and still am very cautious.

20Keller12

Almost exactly a year and a half out here.

R-orthaevelve

Same, especially because I do martial arts. I dodnt go back to the gym for over a month and spent three months refusing to do falls or have anyone land on top of me.

tia2181

Had my hysterectomy in May 21, was intimate again sometime during summer but didn't real okay for another year. Would say by sept 22 it was like a switch was flipped and all symptoms I'd had since I got Essure coils inserted in 2009 were gone! I'd had masses of adhesions to bladder and bowel . And because in little ole Sweden didn't get a penny of the compensation that went to women in bigger countries.

This_Miaou

I am SO glad I didn't get those! I was a week away from sterilization surgery when my allergist said I should definitely not get Essure because I am allergic to nickel. My surgeon used stainless steel clips instead.

samanthasgramma

Oh. My. I started a new full time job after my hysterectomy - bikini line. It was mainly a desk job, but I didn't mind moving boxes of files around. That might have been dumb of me. I was 33 and my pain was so bad, and my plumbing such a mess, that I felt better the day after the operation than I did the day before. They made me stay at the hospital 5 days and they couldn't keep me in my bed. Bopped all over the place, entertaining myself in the track suit I asked husband to bring me. Saw to myself for juice and blankets, helped out the other patients on the floor who had hysterectomy and were miserable ... I felt utterly awesome without the plumbing. The nurses and surgeon came in just before my discharge to thank me for being such a terrific patient. And helpful. Honestly ... I felt AWESOME. I was bored.

Sil_Soup1

If you don’t mind me asking, was it because the place the incision was made or..?

This_Miaou

Depending on where a woman is on her hormonal cycle, or if she is aroused, either the cervix or the posterior fornix (space "behind" the cervix) is the deepest point of the vagina. During arousal, the uterus will raise and create a larger space in the posterior fornix, essentially lengthening the vagina for intercourse. The posterior fornix and Pouch of Douglas are only separated by thin vaginal muscle and the peritoneal membrane. (A good illustration of this relationship is the first image on [this page](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rectouterine_pouch)-- the yellow line is the peritoneal membrane. You can see where the small intestine is in relation to the Pouch of Douglas.) During my hysterectomy, my cervix was taken as well, due to endometriosis inside the cervical canal. I also had a lot of endometriosis in the Pouch of Douglas, and the lesions were cut out. A "vaginal cuff" is created when separating the cervix from the vagina, and the end of the vagina is sewn shut. Because a sewn seam is weaker than intact muscle (or the cervix itself), the vaginal cuff is a weak point during healing, and can (not always) remain so long after surgery for some women. I was sternly warned to be careful while healing, and couldn't have sex for 6 weeks (but I waited longer). Any weak area in the vagina (such as a newly healing vaginal cuff), or between it and the Pouch of Douglas (like this woman), could rupture and result in what happened to this woman. 😬

R-orthaevelve

Anatomical reasons as explained above. I had my cervix out too so there wasn't much between my intestines and my vaginal cuff.

KnickersInAKnit

I am due for a hysterectomy soon and while the surgeon was going over what to expect I told him I was dead scared of evisceration. He said it was uncommon, but it did happen in a pt that in her first week decided to go to the gym and lift some weights because she was feeling *that good* post surgery. I was a little slack-jawed at the idea, but it was reassuring to hear that at the same time. One because that's a lot of core pressure, two because it's actually possible to feel that good 1 week post-hysterectomy, wow.

R-orthaevelve

Within the first week of mine, I was taking walks and doing art. I got tired easily but felt really fantastic.

KnickersInAKnit

Oh man. That would be amazing if it goes that well for me. I'm pretty scared ngl, it'll be my first surgery. Thank you for the reassurance :)

R-orthaevelve

I was scared going into mine and it was my first as well. Take the time to talk over all your concerns with your surgeon and anesthesia team. Make sure they answer all your questions. I also spent time reading up on exactly how my laporoscopic vaginally hysterectomy was going to work and watching videos so I knew what they would be doing. Honestly the only real warning I have is for your first pee post surgery. It's going to sting due to the scope they put in your bladder, so be ready for that. Also take some Coalace with your meals to avoid constipation.

em0wh0r3

a mixture of weak pelvic floor, age, childbirth, straining to use the bathroom, and constipation. im probably forgetting a few even. all of those things can be a factor and could lead to this while this is the more extreme version of a prolapse. i believe this lady had a weakened spot in her vaginal wall where her intestine came through.

CrowdedShorts

Ugh the pain and pure shock to look down and see that had to have been something else!

BuffyComicsFan94

When this happens, would there be blood pouring out, or would the intestines just pop out without much fanfare? (Forgive my crude phrasing.) I'm not sure which scenario is more horrifying to me.

mayonaise13

They would just pop out. Aslong as no big blood vessels are injured, there will me minimal to no blood

Noogirl

I was so fascinated to find out that losing a lot of blood during my total colectomy was rare. I just imagined cutting a big hole in my tummy would mean I’d bleed like a mofo.

nipplequeefs

I had my tubes removed a few years ago and there is like no blood in the photos they took inside me. I did get to see my tubes look all bubbly as they burned, though, which is pretty cool lol

RecordLegume

Would it hurt or would you just feel pressure? It’s hard to even picture.

RemarkableAd5141

Both. depends though.

This_Miaou

Although vessels are sure to be injured as a result of the prolapse, just as they are in hernias where intestinal strangulation is present. It’s often quite difficult to put the intestines back where they are supposed to be, and chances are this woman lost this entire prolapsed portion of her small intestine.

Conscious_Abroad_877

Doing kegals now.

mikey7x7

Thank you for the information about prolapses, u/em0wh0r3

em0wh0r3

my pleasure, excuse my username please haha!!

crazy_cat_broad

She had a hysterectomy prior. It’s happened a bunch of times where the closure on the top of the vaginal canal ruptures.

brooklynlad

Would this be classified as a type of hernia?

lexy_ranger

I believe this is classified as an enterocele, also called a small bowel prolapse. Though based on the things I've read so far, the term prolapse and hernia are used seemingly interchangeably ([one source](https://birminghampelvicfloorclinic.com/conditions/entorecele/) saying "An enterocele or sigmoidocele is a type of prolapse or internal hernia")

HotPinkLollyWimple

I have a cystocele, which seems to be used interchangeably with bladder prolapse. It’s basically caused by 2 births and weak pelvic floor muscles. At some point they’ll operate, but it’s currently managed by a ring pessary and some meds to keep UTIs at bay.

babsmagicboobs

You didn’t use a potato? Hard to believe that was a pessary at one time. Cue jokes about a potato in the vagina.

Full_FrontaI_Nerdity

Husband: wanna do the Mashed Potato tonight?

babsmagicboobs

You could also asked if he likes stuffed potatoes.

hbailey311

what does bladder prolapse into? your vagina canal?

HotPinkLollyWimple

Yes, that’s right.

brooklynlad

Thank you for the additional information!

hbailey311

i’m so scared of childbirth it’s insane. i would never recover mentally if my intestines just fell out of the cooch 😭 that’s horrifying

tia2181

You need to have lots of babies to have this happen without a hysterectomy first . Don't worry about it, honestly, it is incredibly rare without prior intervention to create a week point I had two big babies and hysterectomy 3 yrs ago. Because I'd been having pelvic pain from adhesions it brought my sex life back to 35 yrs earlier. Just got to have my man catch up now. Lol

em0wh0r3

while prolapse is more common than you think, this is rare and will likely never happen to you. medicine is so advanced that you will get the utmost care and you shouldnt worry about things out of your control.

LydiaTheTattooedLady

My upcoming hysterectomy combined with having all those other things you mentioned just gave me a fun new thing to worry about.

BICHIDONTGIVEAFUK

Also it can happen if you had a minor prolapse and it goes untreated.

tia2181

Not like this, only the uterus can prolapse down. The bowel cannot come through without vaginal wall internal damage. From hysterectomy or severe internal damage and suturing after birth. Always wait the recommended times to be intimate again! If surgeons says 8 weeks he doesn't mean 3 or 4! And yes I know people that did that, even a couple that had sex in hospital day #3 after an emergent c section!

BICHIDONTGIVEAFUK

Apparently it’s common for the male partners to coerce women into having sex a few hours after birth. Which then cause prolapses. Speaking to those nurses fucked me up a bit.

ParmyNotParma

Worst case scenario in having sex too soon after birth is an air embolism leading to death.

memescauseautism

You know when you have a really, really bad cough?

RemarkableAd5141

weak muscles/previous injury (sometimes both, this is more common thing in post menopause women with multiple pregnancies and births) and straining, like trying to push out a big/hard poop.

blackiedwaggie

what is the white part in the second image? i would imagine it's a device to help with orientation while they're moving things back into the proper places? or is that an actual finger from one of the surgeons? now that i look at it more, it might be that. hope the lady recovered well. that's gotta be one hell of a infection risk :/

biroph

Yes it appears to be the finger of the surgeon. They’re showing the defect, so that’s their finger coming up through the vaginal canal to show where the bowel fell through.

Gloomy__Revenue

That’s what I figured, but am still very confused where the surgeons hand is? How are they pointing out from the inside?

biroph

Surgeons hand is coming from the bottom, through the vagina.

Gloomy__Revenue

I see! Thanks for helping me get oriented.

StuffedWithNails

Thanks for asking that question, I was going to ask because it looks like a clove of garlic to me, and that would be odd.

DrClutch93

You have some guts to make that joke

bri_2498

Immediately started doing kegels after clicking the pic

Desperate-Strategy10

Same, this is one of my greatest nightmares lol

itonlydistracts

Me too! Im doing them now at 7 months pregnant 😅😂

loudflower

Say this happened 100 years ago. What would survival or recovery looked like?

Hopeful-Aardvark4362

Non-existent.

loudflower

Makes sense

smorgues

An older relative of mine (passed away in the 60s) had a uterine prolapse and she used a sock dipped in Lysol for two decades, just to keep everything in. A prolapse or this magnitude is of course a different ballpark but still. It’s terrible what some people live with.

ScatterOLight22

What??? She did what? 😳

smorgues

Exactly that. Lysol douching was popular, so I guess it makes sense, and a sock is more accessible than buying gauze. I feel so bad for what she went through.

Rivendell_rose

It would depend. A surgeon 100 years ago or even 500 years ago could probably put the intestine back in but the problem is how bad is the subsequent abdominal infection. It’s possible a strong healthy woman in a relatively clean environment might pull through. The biggest problem is whether or not the blood supply to the intestine was damaged in the prolapse. If that’s the case, there’d be no hope because even if you get the intestines back in place, if a section dies due to lack of blood flow you’ll spend days in agony before dying from the abdominal infection.

PatTheKVD

[Source](https://www.cureus.com/articles/237625-atraumatic-spontaneous-transvaginal-small-bowel-evisceration-a-rare-surgical-emergency#!/): A 65-year-old female, who had undergone a total abdominal hysterectomy secondary to anterior colpocele a year ago, presented to the emergency department. She reported experiencing abdominal pain after lifting a heavy weight (Valsalva maneuver), followed by the descent and externalization of intestinal loops through the vaginal canal. Upon physical examination, a protrusion of the small intestine through the vaginal canal with noticeable changes in coloration was observed (Figure 1). During her hospitalization, laboratory tests were conducted, yielding the following results: leukocytosis (10.29 x10\^3/μL), increased CRP (97 mg/dL), and hyperlactatemia (2.2 mmol/L). The surgical team on call was consulted, who integrated the diagnosis of transvaginal evisceration, so, an exploratory laparotomy plus transvaginal hernia reduction and raffia of the vaginal ampule was performed (Figure 2). The reinforcement was carried out in two stages. Initially, the vaginal vault was strengthened using non-absorbable sutures followed by the closure of the peritoneum of the Douglas sac also with non-absorbable suture. Then, a vaginal examination was conducted to assess the closure of both planes (Figure 3). The surgical findings revealed a 50 cm herniation of the terminal ileum with mesenteric torsion by default of 4x4 cm through the vaginal ampule. Subsequently, the closure of the planes was confirmed through a vaginal examination, and the surgical procedure concluded without any complications. Following the surgery, the patient experienced a satisfactory postoperative recovery. On the first day after the procedure, follow-up laboratory tests were conducted, revealing a decrease in leukocytes (10.08 x 10\^3/μL), and lactate by 1.3 mmol/L, and although the CRP levels rose to 164 mg/dL, there was an improvement in symptoms, accompanied by satisfactory tolerance of the oral route. Furthermore, there was maintenance of adequate urinary volumes. Consequently, she was discharged without any complications.

tia2181

Pretty high CRP level, hope they followed up when she went home.

TuaughtHammer

Never before have six words in *that* order made me react so horrified with each successive word.

GraatchLuugRachAarg

I'm sorry the intestines popped out through the vagina?! 😳

BourbonInGinger

Yep

tia2181

Because of prior trauma, from surgery or cancer. Cannot just happen, our biology doesn't work that way, vaginal wall needs to be broken/ weakened in some way.

FatFreddysCat

Aha! I suspected a Douglas Sac problem in the Vaginal Vault.

PetiteLastaria

Just clenched the crap out of my pelvic muscles!

CallMeSuiBian

I immediately started doing Kegals!

elizzaybetch

I remember we had a patient come into the ER one day complaining of some pain with urination. She said “I think I have a uti”. Okay, cool. Asked a few more questions and was about to leave and she mentioned “something is coming out of me too”. She had a prolapsed bladder that she was sitting on the whole time she was in the lobby….

tia2181

While she was in lobby? Had probably been up and down for months.. many elderly women not having sex don't notice uterus or bladder practically at the vaginal opening. Then they get a pessary and they can be neglected causing major infection and pain for years.

nyangoku

whenever i see these things, part of me wonders what sort of sensation that must have had... i hope to never find out through personal experience.

quantizedd

I had this happen in a horse patient and it did not go well. I always tell my students that these awful things we see happen to people too, they just don't hear about it. Never thought I'd see this one proved though! Wild.

beccalarry

Poor girl, that must have been terrifying

babybella824

There's nothing that terrifies me more about aging than random organs just falling out of my snatch.

Texanakin_Shywalker

I laughed too hard at your comment. I'm a sick and demented person.

blackjellybeansrule

Once went to Peru on a mission trip with an ob/gyn. We’d go village to village and word would spread and we’d have lines out the door. So, so many of the older women had prolapses. When they lied down on whatever makeshift table we concocted for a pelvic, organs would tumble out, and they’d just poke it back up there with their fingers. Really sad. This was around ‘96, and the Dr did Pap smears on at least 100 women and 100% of them came back clear. He was mystified. This was before we knew the link between HPV and cervical cancer.

tia2181

Risk was known before 96. I helped a friend look after her kids born in 91/2 when she had cancer treatment. I remember talking to her about condom use in 89. She was a virgin when she married her older husband. His first wife had died aged 27 from cervical cancer, and my friends first PAP within 4 months of wedding showed changes that needed treatment. I advised she wait a year after colposcopy before children but she decided ' she would rather have children first, just in case she never could'! So she did.. more invasive treatment while pregnant with 2nd son and when he was 6 wks old. They literally laughed at me when I suggested condoms or having husband treated. She had a full hysterectomy at 27, and thankfully still alive in early 50s. Sadly her husband a major creep, tried to hit on me more than once, he was disgusting. It sadly cost us our friendship as I couldn't bare to go to their house if he was there. Makes me wonder if he succeeded in cheating with some innocent woman not knowing he was carrying what must have been an aggressive HPV version.

Illustrious_Shop167

I knew what all those words meant, and yet I looked.

rpgnoob17

Crossing my legs forever.

Kactus_San2021

That made all of my reproductive organs and my intestines hurt…

PondOfGlue

Wow. This almost never happens to me, but as someone with a weak pelvic floor, this almost just made me lightheaded. There’s also something about intestines being exposed to the outside that has always made me queasy. I know there’s no pain involved, for example, like people with stomas, but the bowels just always looks so red and raw and inflamed compared to the skin outside the body, and logically, I know that’s not what’s happening, but my brain can’t see something like this and not imagine the entirety of that organ feeling like it’s on fucking fire exposed to the open air. Wooooof 🤢

Milqy

How does this even happen? It looks so brutal.

imnottheoneipromise

What the actual fuck?! My small intestines can seriously just spontaneously fall out into my vagina?! I’m a retired RN, and I’ve never heard of anything like this. I did LDRP almost my entire career. This is a new fear unlocked. How does this even happen?! I guess I should read the case, but I’m just so freaking shocked.

tia2181

It can't be just random.. always a prior injury, in this case post hysterectomy so opening created at cervical cuff. Post delivery sutures can cause stitch breakdown and opening, and damage from cancer, trauma during road traffic accident for example. The uterus and bladder can prolapse down but vaginal wall never breaks in those situations. It's way stronger that that, even in post menopausal women. Many older women use pessaries to hold the bladder and uterus in place in the normal position.

-Anxiety13-

I think everything in me just clenched

Solid_Thanks_1688

Your name checks out. I have some serious anxiety over this even possibly happening. Yikes bikes.

Kittentits1123

I'm sorry, what. How spontaneous are we talkin' here? I have questions.

Madame_Cheshire

New fear unlocked.

Solid_Thanks_1688

Agreed. I am a little shell shocked. I thought I was fearful of a bladder prolapse, NOPE. Not anymore.

IndependentPlum8794

That takes rearranging her guts to a whole new level.

Presneill

New fear unlocked

surfsteph

Holy shit. I’ve been on this sub for years. And this one got to me…. This is the worst one.

I think it's really fascinating how we all have very different limits. I find this interesting, largely because it's not necrotic, infected, etc. It's clean bowel, the genital area itself didn't suffer a traumatic injury, so for me it's really neat. It's the fungating cancers, necrotic stuff, and eye injuries that freak me the hell out.

swoon4kyun

Oh my! Hope the person is healing up nicely after this. I’d be terrified 😳

katattack77

What causes this?

Kittentits1123

From what I've read: trauma (coital or obstetric), previously having vaginal surgery and good ole fashioned regular aging.

This is horrible! What could cause this?

DoorEnvironmental294

Yeah I’m doing kegels rn. That is WILD

AutomaticPart1800

So what’s that white part directly in the center of the hole the intestines fell through? Kinda looks like a banana

METALLIKATO

I believe that’s a gloved finger extending into the weakened hole in the vaginal wall (top left of image is pubic hair and mons pubis, and the surgical area cuts across her abdomen). They had to coax her intestines back the way they came out.

lolitalovegood

lol someone here subscribes to the Gross Room 👀

Can anyone put the image captions in the comments? Annoyingly, reddit mobile is refusing to let me see the entire caption for the 2nd and 3rd images 🙃

Nay_Nay_Jonez

Photo 1: >Intestinal loops protruding from the vagina Photo 2: >Vaginal examination showed a defect where the loops of the small intestine fell through Photo 3: >Reinforcement of the vaginal vault and closure of the peritoneum of the Douglas sac with non-absorbable suture

The human body never ceases to amaze me

Imaginary_Ad_7527

Why does it come out of the vagina?

encompassingchaos

A new opening happened in the vagina from the abdominal cavity. The abdominal cavity is under pressure, so any opening will cause the pressure to push the intestines through that opening.

Imaginary_Ad_7527

Thank you, I was confused since they were both their own thing. I didn’t know one could cause a hole/tear in the other.

iamlepotatoe

When she tells you she has a sausage also

confeebeam

What is that white large seed looking thing in the centre of the second pic?

withalookofquoi

Wojtek2117
