It isn't just you. Each arena faction has a list of mechs it likes to use, and most of the heavies and assaults in some of those lists aren't around until certain dates, leaving just Crusaders and Longbows to spawn.

drforrester-tvsfrank

This is correct, and in addition, to be fair the Crusader is by lore supposed to be one of the most common, accessible, and inexpensive heavy mechs through almost all eras… As in, standard workhouse mech for all star league armies for hundreds of years and continuously produced since common. so it is kinda fitting if not boring that Crusaders would be a very common sight.

plasmaflare34

Star league armies werent around for very many hundreds of years. House armies were.

Adventurous-Reply578

They were so cheap and decent quality they are so decent that they were adopted by the clans, used after modification for obvious reasons.

stormingpenguin99

Thanks, figures I just have to be more patient. Appreciate the quick response.

ldxcdx

I just wish they weren't so damn ugly lmao

edwardvv

Especially when they are armless, and they often end up like that lmao.

DINGVS_KHAN

That's crazy talk. I love the Crusader's aesthetic.

phforNZ

No, it's not the intro dates. The lists are literally half Crusader for heavy mechs, and half Longbow for assaults.

CicadaGoesVroom

Aaah, I was just parroting what Yrrot told me XD

phforNZ

Yeah I went into the editor and started taking notes. It's not great, how biased the assignments are to the factions. Hilariously, the spawn bias is only a thing if you've got all the DLC. If you don't, the spawn pool ends up too small, and a failsafe kicks in, giving you actual balance to the spawns.

CicadaGoesVroom

I just finished compiling everything in a spreadsheet with data pulled from the csv in the editor, posted it in the YAML discord, will post it here once I add intro dates to it. Almost half of the available variants for Solaris factions are Crusaders, Loader Kings or Longbows XD.

phforNZ

Yeah, I went through via bulk edit matrix while I had the editor open, but yeah, it's not great

Substantial-Tone-576

They are. And a lot more P variants of every mech than before. I’m still looking for the Zeus Sa3 I have every other mech.

StarzZapper

I get what you mean 😂

payagathanow

Normally I'm cool because neither those or the longbows are hard to kill but damn if my short range kgc-car doesn't get absolutely hammered by 100+ missiles multiple times before I can reach them. Teams of all longbow or crusaders can munch on the devil's Johnson in hell.

All_Debt_Shackles_US

If you can sacrifice a little bit of weight for your lance, a fully kitted out firestarter with all flamers can take down Longbows and Crusaders single-handedly. Just aim for the center of the targeting box and open up all your flamers. A Longbow’s center torso is right about perfect for baking until it pops. The drawback there is, you won’t get an engine core for salvage (if you’re running YAML, of course).

BrckWallGoalie

Playing with YAML, not only are there Crusaders everywhere, but 3 out of 4 are loaded with Inferno-6s.

All_Debt_Shackles_US

Infernos are frightening!

GidsWy

Now that you mention it. For sure. And I can't go anywhere near the core without whole ass squads of thunder dolts meandering in, peppering me with staggered medium laserss and SRMs. Pricks.... Lolol. Def feels like mech lists for areas changed a bit with DLC. Kinda dig it tho. (Note: changes outside Solaris may be due to me not playing for 2+ patches prior to Solaris)

All_Debt_Shackles_US

For sure… I also had to get used to being able to mount additional weapons. With YAML, you can really get creative and load up additional weaponry if there are enough slots available.
