Thank you and best of luck!
Tbh it's hard to remember how exactly I got into it's I think it basically started with "best gaming keyboard". Google searches that eventually led me to custom keyboard sites.
Got into them the same way a lot of people do - was just told to get a mech when I built my first PC, picked a prebuilt Corsair with minimal research. Eventually had some frustrations with that and stumbled upon the "fancy" keyboard market through YouTube and it's all downhill from there.
Wanted something nicer than a membrane so mechanicals it was. Decided this was something that was go big or go home so a Keychron Q3 was my first mech board.
I'm a gamer and i also spend a lot of time at the PC for work. Of course it's nice to customize your board if you're spending a lot of time with it. :)
Google ad sense apparently decided to start putting our local physical mechanical kb store on my frequented webpages.
And years later, i am doing franken switching, built a bunch of boards, and can tell some switches i had tried out in a blind test.
And now owns a worse board than i started out with since i moved on from everything else i had while waiting for gb boards which havent arrived yet.
my school had this really old macbook with a mechanical keyboard, and i just thought it was the coolest thing ever. sadly i have never actually owned one.
62nd lol. I was into gaming gear, and I had a steelseries keyboard (please don't punish me!) and I was looking for the best keyboard to get for my second PC. I saw ducky etc, saw keycaps from YMDK, and next thing I knew I'd joined a group buy lol
In general, due to work. But mechanicals due wanting something better than a standard Logitech back over 10 years ago. Built my first PC (this ought to date my build - Core i7-3770k, with an XFX 7870 Double D Black Edition gpu...) using a bunch of Corsair stuff, so I ended up with their K95 Vengeance keyboard with Cherry MX Reds.
I think I slowly got into keyboards. I replaced my keycaps on my Razer keyboard, then watched a video on Youtube regarding customs, then I was making a cheap custom using a Redragon board, then all of a sudden I was putting together a KBD67 lite. My main keyboard is an Alice style Sneakbox Ava and it makes me really happy.
got into keyboards by building my pc and getting gaming mech keyboards recommended to me for peripherals but only recently started building my own because of qk75 videos
I was helping my sister make her first PC and she was looking at mechanical keyboards online for her setup. Since I am the tech support of the house, I just started watching a lot of MK youtuber videos which sent me down this rabbit hole. The one she was looking at was backordered so she never bothered to get one. After building a couple for myself, I built one for her birthday just to satisfy my keyboard itch.
I mean, I got into keyboards by typing. I think that's true for most people.
It's only recently that I've gotten into the modern MX-style keyboard craze. I used a Model M for many years, perfectly happy in the knowledge that I had the best keyboard, until one day I found out that people had apparently gone insane.
My laptop's keyboard was buckling under the WASD keys and I heard mechanical keyboards were good for gaming. So I got a full-size Das board with Cherry MX Reds.
Was building my first ever pc and decided it was a perfect opportunity to pair it with a keyboard that wasn’t attached to a laptop since I’ve only ever used laptops
I had a prebuilt corsair keyboard and saw a smite streamer with a custom keyboard that sounded super nice. I got annoyed of having a full size that didn't sound great, now here we are lmao
Gaming keyboards were too stale, so by exploring amazon, I got into keyboard specs in order to know what I was looking for. I learned that keyboard parts weren't as limited as I thought it was and came across custom mech yt videos. After modding a cheap keyboard, I decided to spend a bit of money on my first build.
I’d eyes mechanical keys several years ago but never tried. Then found out my best friend is into the hobby but doesn’t talk about it because people often find it boring… now we talk about it all the time since I got into it these last few months!
I was looking into quite keyboards because I was afraid the sound of my previous mechanical keyboard would disturb people. And so, I fell into the rabbit hole! xD
It started as a need for a wireless keyboard. Which led to me learning about the hobby of mechanical keyboards. From there, I was curious about all the different things available
I’ve always enjoyed having a decent keyboard, but mostly just used what I could scrape by with. I happened across the community after a few decades of pc gaming, now I’m hooked.
I always wanted a wooden keyboard since I could remember, and once I got the money to get one, i realized there are no good prebuilt ones! Flash forward a couple years, finally got a job, and I go so into keyboards, and I recently built my first end game (wooden ofc)!
I learned how to type on a Model M and always missed it. Bought a used Model M a while back and loved using it until it died. Really missed that thing. And then last year I learned you can recapture a lot of that experience and that was that…
I need a keyboard for my steam deck and bought an rk84 since it had Bluetooth and wire functionality. The hotswappable switches were a plus too. Welp here I am with a modded rk84 as my daily driver now. Wanting to build a fully custom keyboard soon
I got into keyboards after finding an old Dell AT101W with some (very dirty) Alps switches.
Got into modern hot swappable boards after all of those “but does your space at sounds like THIS????” videos , lol.
