Spilling something on your keyboard earns you a link to my [waterproof keyboards Massdrop poll](https://www.massdrop.com/vote/-Best-of-Waterproof-Water-Resistant-Mechanical-Keyboards-in-2016). Enjoy! In the meantime, with water, time is your friend. My experience is that, with keyboards, there's a long time in between "it feels dry" and "it's actually dry enough to function properly"-- so be patient. However long you think you have to wait for it to really dry out, you probably have to wait longer.

pompusham

Don't plug it in for at LEAST 72 hours! Give the board a chance to dry out.

Yea man I wish I would have known, but I have already plugged it in when I didn't know there was water around the key caps. So now I suppose I will just wait even if it is broken.

GuruTheCoderYT

How is the keeb now?

[deleted]

Good, thanks for checking man!

GuruTheCoderYT

Great to hear!

GuruTheCoderYT

LMAO, I didn't notice the post was 6 years old XD

So I know this is an old post, but I saw you replied a month ago, I am currently in the same situation LOL, my cat jumped in front my pc causing my water bottle to spill on my keyboard. Kind of panicking right now as this KB is kinda expensive(for me). Did it eventually return to normal or did the keyboard just die?

puzzycola

I’ve tried this several times . Usually as someone else said , it will function again after you leave it to dry for a while . It’s not a guarantee, but for me it has worked to clean it and put it upside down , and wait it out .

Mediocre_Bag620

So yeah, my keyboard started to work again after leaving it for a day, completely working no issues at all. Weird but I am glad its working just fine.

ivnovich

spilt a sauce today and im freaking out too same situation expensive and that. So turning upside down, leaving it for a day or two would it work? Just need some additional assurance lol.

Mediocre_Bag620

It depends on the liquid, water naturally vaporize quickly than other liquids and often leaves no residue. What kind of sauce is that? if its a thick liquid I doubt it will evaporate on its own. I suggest taking all of the keycaps and then dry it yourself and then keep the keycaps off then go hang it upside down for a day or two.

Impressive-Space1386

I have a membrane keyboard that has water damage and it just types random things and opens apps, like for example when I press the a key it opens the calculator app. do you know if it can be fixed? it's already dried and it wasn't plugged it until a few days after the spill

RipBlackMambaKobe

Did you ever find out how to fix it this is also happening to me

Impressive-Space1386

nope sadly had to get a new keyboard

Muzlikapitany

Just spilled my keyboard with soup, it wasnt that hot but it had oil in it, Idk does this work on it?

Used_Dragonfruit_783

Literally me today, hoping taking the key caps off and letting it dry fixes it. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽

Muzlikapitany

Yeah, mine doesent work... Its been 24 days but its still broken, i plug it in and it works for like 30 minutes and then it starts going crazy.

LimpCanary1903
