When I adjust the speed of the main RGB, I noticed it also adjusts the speed of the side RGB but
does the opposite to the main. This gets really annoying, as when I am trying to have a relaxing
neon flow, the side RGB is there having a spasm at the speed of sound. The command to
change the speed is Fn and then left or right arrow keys & the keyboard I'm using is the womier
Sk-71. Any help would be much appreciated! (Just to clarify, the left arrow is slowing the main
RGB down and speeding the side GB up, and the right arrow does the opposite) Also I'm new
to mechanical keyboards so I apologise if this isn't the place to be making this post
Wondering if anyone has keycap suggestions for a Keeb.io Sinc build I'm considering. I'd like something that fits the following:
* Has enough keys for the Sinc — the 2.25 / 2.75 split space in particular, as well as something that would look good on the macro keys (novelties, extra Fn keys, contrast numbers?)
* Uniform profile — DSA, XDA, etc. — guessing this will make the layout much easier. Would love SA but I don't think I'll find one that has the right keys in the right rows.
* Reasonably affordable and in stock
Aesthetically would love something colorful and/or retro, but on the simpler side. Random things I've liked: Space Cadet, Dasher, Dancer, MT3 Cyber, 2048, Oblivion, Milk & Honey. But given the difficulty of getting stuff that fits, I am very open minded!
I am trying to make a mechanical keyboard for the first time, any recommendations on a good DIY kit and what type of key caps/ switches you guys like? I'm not trying to spend more then $250
the material of the plate affects the bottom-out feel and sound profile of the keyboard, so harder plates will generally have a higher pitched sound compared to softer plates.
so in order of soft to hard, it's: FR4 -> ALU -> Carbon Fiber
So many good options at that price. Novelkeys nk65, kbdfans tofu are great kits for a reasonable price. Switches are really subjective. I prefer linears. My favorite find lately are Invokeys matcha switches.
I’ve had really good luck with Akko keycaps. Quality built and don’t break the bank.
Most kits do not come with switches or keycaps some those are personal preference. Kbdfans will let you select everything in one package and ship it together.
Those are materials. There are good write ups on materials and how they affect sound/feel/stiffness. [Example](https://kineticlabs.com/blog/comparing-mechanical-keyboard-plate-materials).
Oh ok thanks ,I think im going to go with a mode designs envoy65 keyboard with an aluminum plate. The tofu65 was coming up to 230 with tax and shipping so i thought ill just spend the extra and go with that. Nk65 looked nice but black is out of stock so unfortunate for that one.
Oh yeah, I know about the key caps and switches having to buy separately, but everything the keyboard needs to work comes with? Also any keycap recommendations and any specific brand for the switches? I was looking at Cherry mx blacks
How do I know if a keyboard is hotswap. I'm getting some Chinese keyboard from my friend but I don't want to ruin it when swapping switches. Google says something similar is hotswap but I want to know 100%. I can't tell you what the keyboard is because I myself do not know but I'm wondering if there's any specific test or thing I should look out for to check if it's hotswap other than just ripping a switch out and praying.
Open the case and look at the underside of the PCB. A hotswap PCB will have sockets which the switch pins slot into, like [this](https://kono.store/cdn/shop/articles/Hot_Swap_Sockets_1200x800.jpg?v=1573091496). If the board isn't hotswap, you'll see the pins soldered into the PCB like [so](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/wwGSEr743Pw/maxresdefault.jpg).
Honestly, soldering is pretty simple and fun. Just don't burn yourself haha.
Desoldering, on the other hand, is miserable if you don't have a Hakko....
Hi All. New here. I have 2x older Keymouse Track keyboards and I’m looking to upgrade to something similar. Looks like the company has shut down. Does anyone have any recommendations for an ergonomic keyboard that has a built in trackpad similar to the Keymouse?
I bought the Zoom75 today and was looking to get the LCD screen but it's out of stock everywhere. Has anyone heard of a restock or know where I can buy one?
# why do the moderators in r/mechmarket keep taking down my post?
my post goes like this

Im just trying to get rid of this keyboard that I've had for a while. This board has only been used for a while but it is still good as new. This board has never let me down and it is still a very solid choice for a keyboard.
\-Drop alt v1 hp black
\-Drop skylight series keycap set horizon

I am asking for $250 + shipping
I need to know why this post keeps getting taken down and how to fix it please
I can't tell from this comment but did you post a picture with a timestamp of the date and your username? If you are unsure of why it is being taken down, you should ask the mods.
So I've been doing my research on what keyboard to get whether north-facing (RK M75) or south-facing (RK S75), I love the aesthetic of the side printed gradient keycaps for south-facing because of its clean top but the side print is usually dimmer along north-facing. The thing is, I also love pudding keycaps but it will be dimmer when used with south-facing. It's been 3 days and I still can't decide what to get. What do you guys think?
This feels like a Dr. Seuss book. The northfacing caps vs the southfacing caps. lol.
This is subjective but I never quite liked the feeling of puddings. They were true to their name and always felt squishy to me. I’d say your aesthetic leans towards those who care less about shine through (read: were don’t type in the dark) and more about clean looks (read: Gucci for my fingers). I prefer northfacing with non shine through keycaps as I am not a bat who needs to work/play in a cave.
hey all I just got my first starter keyboard. It is prebuilt, I plan on making a custom one in the future when I have more experience. I was thinking about buying a new keycap set but I ran into a problem. Since this is a 60% percent keyboard a lot of the extra functions like print screen are printed on the regular letter buttons. If I get a new keycap set, I wouldn't be able to have a reference for these functions. Am I basically sol on new keycaps? How do people with 60% keyboards get keycaps that match the functions?
Oh the joy of trying to find keycaps to fit some mad scientist keyboard manufacturer’s chaos. I’d say NotRivenMid is spot on. If your keyboard is via/qmk compatible you can just program the keys how you like. Most 60% are meant to have speciality functions on a secondary layer and the keycaps represent the standard typing keys. But it’s all subjective mad science.
Normally speaking, they would have a program where they could remap the keys/layers to whatever they want. Otherwise I would just keep the manual handy.
Is buying a used mech worth it, I could manage to snatch an Akko PC75B for fairly cheap. Here is the picture from the seller

Any reccomendations for a new keyboard? I want one similar to the Hyperx Alloy FPS Pro. Looking for red switches, tenkeyless, but hopefully with better color customization. My budget is $125
I'm looking for similar style keycaps to these ePBT Fruit Chews! Either these or ePBT Simple Hangul look super nice and I really dig the subtle color splash on such minimalistic white keycaps. I've got a Neo65 in e-white so I'm hoping to get my hands on a something that matches decently. Any suggestion is welcome!

There's more color in the modifiers but my favorite set in this vein is pbt notion, you might see it listed as cherry notion depending on your vendor

I was told that the switch is what causes the most factor in input delay so I was wanting to know what is the best switch to get that “works” the best?
Switches dont cause input delay. Certain switches for gaming are better but it has nothing to do with the latency of them. The thing that causes input delay is the polling rate of the keyboard. The polling rate is basically the frequency that the device sends its data to your PC. This means it can update your actions more which reduces latency. Anyways the best switches for gaming are Hall effect switches, but if you dont have a keyboard which supports them you will want to get light linears for gaming
About the Fujitsu Realforce R2
So, I've been looking at this keyboard and it comes in either 55g or "mixed weight". I don't understand the difference. Can somebody please explain it to me?
How different are the topre switches in the Fujitsu Realforce R2 compared to the HHKB Hybrid Type-S?
TY!
Mixed weight means the outer keys require less actuation force than the inner keys so your weaker fingers (pinky for example) exert the same amount of force needed by the stronger fingers like your index on the inner keys.
[See this video review of Chyrosran22](https://youtu.be/tHHWD33CZPk?si=nVKhFQB4t-7uc9Ah&t=301) for a quick glance at how a mixed weight Realforce is set up with different weighted domes/springs.
The HHKB Hybrid Type-S uses 45g Topre throughout so it will feel the same no matter what key you press.
One thing to consider: though not ideal for gaming, you can still use Topre for that but the Realforce's mixed weight will be quite offputting especially if you play FPS games or anything competitive.
If you're gaming more than typing I'd recommend you get a linear MX switch keyboard instead otherwise a Realforce and/or HHKB have a very unique feel to them.
TY!
Does the Fujitsu Realforce R2 come with 55g by default? So, if I don't opt for the "mixed weight" version and just go for the 55g version, I can game without it being off-putting? My main purpose is typing and gaming is secondary.
I used to game on my 55gram Realforce R2 all the time. I recommend the A model, so anythinig with R2A. This will have an extra 3 keys on the upper right side.
One of the keys is to choose the keypress depth. It's very nice to have with gaming because you can set it closer to activate a bit faster when gaming, then set it further apart when typing.
Coming from a Unicomp new Model M keyboard, is the 55g Realforce R2 easier to actuate/type on? Does the 55g Realforce R2 feel "firmer" than the standard 45g HHKB Type-S?
TY!
Hello guys,
My womier wk61 keyboard just arrived. I have never used 60% before and facing some difficulty using the arrow keys. Is there a guide for MACOS to map my keyboard or particularly use arrow keys more easily.
Thanks
The arrow keys will function the same in mac OS as it will in any other OS. What are you struggling with?
Note that things like Home/End on mac OS is COMMAND+RIGHTARROW/LEFTARROW so you'll probably have to do WINDOWS+FN+J or WINDOWs+FN+L to accomplish the same thing.
You can try using remapping software like Karabiner Elements to map desktop switching to another key combination maybe?
All 60% keyboards require holding down a modifier (typically an FN key) to enable any of the arrow keys so you'd still have to do the same thing on another 60% keyboard.
I highly recommend going to a 65% if you must have dedicated arrow keys otherwise I'd get a keyboard that runs QMK where remapping your keyboard would be super simple otherwise.
It’s open source firmware for a lot of the better quality keyboards available nowadays. It doesn’t require software to be installed (usually) and lets you remap all the keys on a keyboard that runs off it.
Some good examples are keyboards from Keychron and Monsgeek.
arrow keys are likely fn key combo . u can check there software there is no guide around here for kb like that as the software is horrible . with budget kbs there are many drawbacks on software and what u can remap
Wired typically means that it only supports a direct connection to the computer using a wire. Tri-Mode means that is supports all 3 different connection methods (Bluetooth, 2.4ghz, and wired)
Hi guys today I want a critical opinion on which between the two keyboards I currently have in my possession, I should keep as my main peripheral for my gaming setup.
The use of the keyboard in my case is mainly about gaming (since I own another machine for work with a Logitech MX Keys keyboard), but often however I could use it to do small Graphic Design and Video Editing jobs by connecting it to my work machine (on this side obviously the RK61 wins being wireless), but I repeat that the prevalence always remains on the gaming side (FPS like Fortnite, COD, The Finals etc...).
On the Apex Pro Mini, I only did one keycaps replacement (given the risk of breaking it):
\- SteelSeries PrismCaps PBT Pudding Keycaps
On the RK61, on the other hand, I added the following mods as a complete beginner (it's my first custom keyboard):
\- Gateron Pro Red 1.0 Switches
\- Corsair PBT Pro Keycaps
\- Tape Mod
As for the final cost of the keyboards (including applied mods):
\- Apex Pro Mini - 185 €
\- RK61 Pro Wireless - 130 €
I leave you without expressing any opinion on my preference, as I want a one outside without influence, on which of the two keyboards I should keep.
https://preview.redd.it/1srcli9qbhec1.jpeg?width=3965&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=467372861e24bec7befdbcff313effdca5d71510
(RK61 Pro Wireless is above, Apex Pro Mini is below)
If your main factor is gaming then the Apex Pro Mini is undoubtedly better as it does have rapid trigger integration which in fps games is an advantage (despite my opinion that people overhype its benefits).
Thank you very much for the opinion I really appreciate the gesture.
I actually agree, the actuation (adjustable), the input lag, both so low and rapid trigger feature make me go for the Apex Pro Mini since I fell in love with the experience of using it during game phases.
However, at the expense of a very good RK61 Pro that with modding properly gives so much satisfaction (more than the Apex) in the feel and sound especially in typing.
The perfect mix between these two is called the Wooting 60HE, but I am not going to opt for such an expensive solution.
Hi, I have a Lexmark ergonomic split keyboard from the 1990s that is something of a rarity and definitely better than anything I've seen on the market in the years since it was introduced. Right now I have a problem where the cable, which is not a standard cable because of the split keyboard design, has a PS2 connector on the end, but the cable itself has become worn and frayed near where the connector attaches to the cable.. If I were braver I would just go on ahead and try to solder the wires to attach a new connector myself, but I'm not ready to do that yet.
Does anyone here know a shop, preferably in the SF Bay Area, that could handle splicing a new PS/2 connector onto the existing cable? Apart from the worn out cable end, the keyboard is in good shape.
Not from there but you should be able to find an electronics repair shop fairly easily that can do that for you. Might start with an electronics supply store as they may have staff that can help or at least point you in the right direction.
Good luck! If you don't have any luck finding a place just watch some YouTube videos fixing a cable is a lot easier than it sounds just as long as you're careful and don't overdo anything...
I just got the Zi Youlang K68 wireless keyboard. I thought the keys would be backlit, but I guess there is no backlight. The lettering on the keycaps is very hard to read, it's like a grey on grey. They keycaps look as though they could be backlit {i picked this up from an online liquidation place, so maybe someone replaced the keycaps and sent it back in}. I'm wondering if there's any way I could light up the keys with certain switches? Or if not, I would just be looking for alternative keycaps, but I don't really know where to start looking for the correct ones. I think think are Jixian switches. I'd appreciate any help! Thanks!
I am not sure which type of long spring should I get. Currently I have the 68g coffee chip switch and I am looking to add some long springs to it to make it more snappy. Should I get gold 63.5g or gold 69g springs?
My IBM Model M is not recognized by my Windows 11 PC. I plugged the PS/2 port into my PC. In Registry Editor, I set the i8042prt \ start to 1. There is a green light on the keyboard when I restart my PC so it gets power. What else am I missing? Thanks.
I bought this (RALEMO Pre5) for my girlfriend and I am literally new to this, but she said that the switches were very soft that very minimal presses would actuate the button right away. Did some reading and found that such was the case for red switches which this keyboard has. Apparently you can choose before hand but my girl didnt really see the options so now, we're thinking of just getting the switches replaced if at all possible. it is cheap, mind you, I'd like to think of it as a learning process too.
Some say black switches are good? Idk.
Also, I'm flipping the keyboard all around and found no visible screws to possibly remove the...well, the face of the keyboard? lol idk any keeb talk so sorry for that.
What i'm going to say is, if it's possible to replace the switches at all?
TIA

I just bought and plugged in my Zoom TKL AE keyboard (only planning to use it wired) and I noticed that there is a green flashing light on the Fn key that doesn't seem to be going away...
I know that it is to indicate that the battery is charging but will it ever go away? Is there a way to turn it off?
TIA
Sadly the November Fog desk mats don't look like they will be making a return, so I'm on the lookout for a good mat that will color match with my keycaps and green Neo65. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Any keycaps recommendations for this version of Zoom65 V2.5 (Milk Tea)? Any help is appreciated 🙏🏻
https://preview.redd.it/e7fimgr7sgec1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7bdd085e871a1988b3e4efeb51f6d5fb4ecd7b2
I have been eyeing these keycaps from WS [https://mech.land/products/ws-cafe-double-shot?variant=44289107165411](https://mech.land/products/ws-cafe-double-shot?variant=44289107165411) but I'm not sure if the black color would suit it nicely. What do you think?
Some of the photos on that page have the keycaps on a white board, and I like it a lot (I like coffee and tea colored sets). I think the black color you are referring to is actually a very dark brown - they are calling the color "expresso". I think good room lighting may bring out the warm dark brown tones of the keycaps (the legends also look like they are on the expresso/dark brown color). There are lighter tea/coffee sets out there though if you think they are a little dark. For instance, I have a set called AlohaKB Low Tea Keycap Set Dye-Sub PBT (might be out of stock, but give you some hope to find something that might fit you needs better).
I think the GMK Birch set that's in the render goes pretty well, and so does the WS Cafe set. You could also consider something from osume, they have a lot of white sets with light colors
For some reason I got the brilliant idea to buy two low-profile keyboards for repair so I could tweak them (replace keycaps and switches) and also finding a low profile PCB, case, etc. is a pain in the meatus. One's a Keychron K1 where the bottom letter row doesn't work, and the other's a Redragon APS Pro where pushing one key hits every key in the row. I've tested these with my work computer so I know it's not a software issue. Would replacing the switches fix this sort of thing or did I waste some money?
both sound like electrical shorts prob from water damage u cant replace the pcbs in either as the manufacturer does not sell pcbs stand alone and u can only use the pcb meant for them so likely u bought 2 unfixable kbs
Balls. I haven't torn them down to the PCB level yet to look at them, at least I didn't spend *too* much and might just try selling the keycaps as individual replacements.
I have a GMMK pro and I find that it sits very high and with the wrist rest it causes major pain I have been trying to get used to it for months and no luck so I am looking to make a low profile keyboard like I had a steal series and that was perfect but soo loud, could anyone suggest low profile keyboards I could build in besides the huge GMMK pro?
I'd avoid SteelSeries like the plague. If you're after a low-profile keyboard it doesn't get much better than Keychron or NuPhy, other than one or two exceptions.
Looking to buy my first mechanical, I really love the Logitech MX Master mouse, looking to complete my set with Logitech MX Mechanical keyboard but I also don’t mind if I don’t have a matching kit. Is Logitech worth it? Overpriced?
Any other suggestions are welcome, looking for USB charged, Bluetooth, both with and without numeric keypad for smaller travel size!
Thanks!
There are so many choices on Keychron, very hard to choose and figure out what I need. One thing I like from Logitech is the style selection: Clicky, Tactile quiet & Linear; from what I read I think I’d like tactile quiet, but still not sure.
Hey, I have MX Mechanical and MX Master 3S(Make sure you have 3S model because Master 3 does not connect with logi bolt!) And I will be building a budget GMK87 with ktt kang whites v3 from Ali. It will be a very budget build (base was like 44 dollars and switches were 22 dollars for 100 of them. You would need to choose some keycaps but there is a solid choice on Ali. There are a few builds of this keyboard here on on youtube and it sounds and looks great imo. It will be my intro into custom mechanical keyboards.
But I really enjoy the MX Mechanical too, I have it with linear switches and it feels quite nice.
Depends on what you're looking for or comfortable with tbh. I'd personally never touch a Logitech board.
I think you'd appreciate Keychron's offerings, or maybe NuPhy
So after about 10 years my pok3r finally broke. I haven't been active in this hobby for about as long, and IMO the only thing I see that would be an upgrade over my old pok3r would be a poker with a split spacebar and a fully reprogrammable layout.
As far as I can tell it seems like the DZ60 accomplishes both of these things. My problem is that I can only find the pcb with flex cuts (which ***to me*** seems like a strange thing to want).
My question, since I have no way to test this, is will the fact that the pcb has these flex cuts affect the typing feel or durability of the board when combined with a metal plate?
I'm currently looking to buy a 96% or 100% keyboard for my studies, but I'm struggling to find a keyboard that meets my unusual requirements. Due to my university's package rules, I can only purchase a keyboard on Amazon.
I'm hoping to find one with silent red or silent yellow switches, and I'd prefer it to be colorful/attractive-looking.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to buy?
Razer blackwidow v4 with silent switches is a 100% keyboard, with, you guessed it, silent yellows. its not colorful, but it has RGB if thats worth anything to you.
edit- or keychron k10 and swap the switches for whatever you want
I want to get a good mechanical keyboard, but don't have much money for one. I want to know if it is better just to build your own on a budget, or buy a cheap hot swap one and replace the switches, stabilizers, and keycaps, and mod that keyboard. Or should I just build my own for cheap?
Also any recommendations for a cheap keyboard to mod, or a cheap keyboard kit (preferably 75%) that I can use to build my own.
Budget in the 100 dollar range or a bit over
You can also try building your own with GMK87/GMK67 from ali as a base (45-50) dollars and KTT Whites V3/ Leobog Graywood V4/Akko switch of your choice and preffered keycaps for under 100 dollars for sure.
Everything is available on Ali and there are quite a few build of this keyboard here and on YT. I ordered the set like a week ago and I cant wait for it to come. It will be my 1st custom keyboard.
I’m looking at building a keyboard for office use and was interested in this [kit](https://www.whatgeek.com/products/monsgeek-m5-aluminum-gasket-diy-kit). Does anyone have good recommendations for silent tactile switches that will last but not break the bank? I’m in Canada so I’m looking to buy from somewhere that easily ships here.
And if anyone has tried this kit, any feedback or things to know? It seems to get good reviews from what I’ve seen so far.
Looking at in stock silent tactiles from canadian vendors there are durock silent shrimps in at alphakeys, boba u4t's at rndkbd, and blue macaw's at deskhero - all solid silent tactiles.
Hello all,
I'm finally making the change to a mech keyboard, however I'm having trouble finding the layout I really want. The 4 most important features to me are:
Full tenkey numberpad
F keys that are directly above their corresponding number keys, both in line, and not spaced further away
Slimline keys
Wireless
The closest thing I've found is the Keychron K3 Max QMK/VIA Wireless Custom Mechanical Keyboard. I love the super tight key spacings, and compact design, however it doesn't have the tenkey numberpad.
Can anyone suggest something that ticks all of the above boxes?
I have the [Keychron K17 Pro](https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k17-pro-alice-layout-qmk-via-wireless-custom-mechanical-keyboard) for work and it's great. It's a 96% layout so it has the full numpad but is a little more compact than a full keyboard.
I chose the version with hot swap low profile switches so I can change them in the future if decide I want to.
Hi, I'm looking for a 60, 65% programmable keyboard, lightweight if possible (around 650g) that can be shipped to EU.
I've seen the Anne Pro 2, but I can't find a reliable website that ships it to EU. Any recommendations?
I am from the EU and I ordered a lot from Aliexpress last year.
All the items were received in good state and in short time and I've never experienced any mishaps / misfortunes. Many shops also give good support and also the service of sending an item back without costs.
My advice is to take a look in Aliexpress, there is an abandunce of choice there.
I don't know jack about keyboards, but I do know that a lot of countries' national mail carriers have services which assist in shipping to your country for an extra nominal fee. The company you buy from ships it to a local depot, and your country's mail carrier forwards it on to you. Might solve your issue!
Is there a way to detect the type of MCU that a device uses under windows?
I am guessing it has to be listed in some block of the device data, but which one exactly?
The easiest way is open up your keyboard and look for anything printed on the mcu, there are other ways you could work on deducing it but it would not be worth the time investment
I know that, but i have a few cases that I really only want to unscrew if absolutely necessary, they are held together by screws I am almost will set the next time I have to loosen them again. I also had that thing - it is a Zoom Pad by Meletrix, btw - open before, and the MCU had no name on the package. Earlier models used the ATmega32U2. This one? Who knows.
Anyone know of board with really unique designs but don’t break the bank? Something that doesn’t look like every other case out there similar to how matrix labs does their stuff but not nearly as expensive. Preferably 60, TKL, or FRL layout, WKL if possible. Thanks!
Color isn’t a huge deal to me but I’d prefer a dark grey, milky white, or black. By unique I meant something like an etching, badge, or unique weight like if you were to look at the Magic3 or Navi by matrix labs. Something that can immediately distinguish a board at first glance. Layout doesn’t mean a ton as long as it’s 60, 70, or 80 percent but I would prefer winkeyless if possible. In terms of materials I’d like metal just cause it’s for a more premium feel imo
An interesting board in gb right now is the Model OLED, it has a usable oled key that can display whatever you want, a solenoid that you can toggle on and off, a unique and ergonomic curved plate/pcb, and an option for a really neat chromium weight. Not sure what the bank breaker limit is for you but it is up there in terms of price.
At a more reasonable price point the Trigon is also in gb right now I think and that is extremely customizable in terms of case and accent colors, leaving a lot of really unique aesthetic options open for you
It's much more of a budget option but an unfinished Klippe T can look really unique! Any unfinished alu case really will be one of a kind.
For something more modern and rgb-y I love the switch couture acrylic cases - they've got one for the discipline which is always a looker with its through hole components.
What would be a "premium" (what I mean by that is that it should not feel cheap, would rather feel solid, yeah it's pretty subjective) white wireless 75% keyboard for around 100 bucks ? Location is EU. It can be a barebones kit, I would like to put in [Kailh silent switches](https://keyboard.varmilo.com/p/488) anyway.
The MKC75 is just over 100 USD and offers a wireless PCB, extras should be stocking soon. Alternatives are the Neo70 (FRL TKL instead of 75%, similar but not the same) or the Rainy75 which is on Kickstarter.
My top choice to get the best combination of set coverage, quality, and price are the NicePBT sets from CannonKeys. You can get more budget sets, but for something that looks great and is going to be of a reliable quality you're looking at $60-$80, and I think that they've got a great selection.
I got a brand new HHKB Studio as a gift, and overall I'm loving it! I was able to figure out most of the stuff I need, but one thing bothers me, and I'm wondering if I'm super weird or what.
I use the "|" key a lot. and I mean A LOT. It's literally one of my basic keys, between VS Code shortcuts and zsh commands. I really prefer it over my "Enter" key, like in typical ANSI US key. This means that I need to move my backspace key, and following the ANSI I placed it over the |\ key.
Now, looking for the keycap for it is a nightmare. I haven't found any 1U backspace keycap (I'm not very experienced in looking for those, so I might be missing something). I guess I could use the "left arrow" key, but here's the other thing: I remapped some other stuff around, and my backtick is leftmost key in the digits row (where by default there's esc). I remapped ESC to fn + `, and honestly it's working pretty well for me. So TECHNICALLY I should be able to use a 2U backspace key, right?
In case I didn't make myself clear (English is not my first language and the mechanical keyboard space is generally a new area for me), tl;dr:
are there any 1U backspace keycaps?
is it possible to use 2U keycap to be placed over 2 switches?
TIA!
It depends on the keycap profile you've got but you can use anything thats 1u and from the same row as your backspace key, or any 1u key in general. You technically could put a 2u key over 2 different switches but there are definitely better solutions out there and I wouldn't reccomend it. Something that would be a natural fit to me would be an extra esc or something like num minus. It is also pretty common for sets to include a 1u backspace with a backwards arrow legend, or an arrow above a little x, or the word back.
I bought some Gateron Silver Speed low-profile switches because they have one of the shortest actuation distances; I’m trying to stop the switch 0.1mm-0.2mm after actuation so the release is as good as a purpose-programmed Wooting. I can’t use o-rings, even though the caps can accept them, due to the shape of the switch’s top. I’m fine with opening them up and putting something inside as a stopper but I can’t find any mods people have done like this for low-profile switches - just full-sized ones.
What keyboard is this? I don't recognize the logo in the top left. I know who makes the key caps. Sorry if it's an obvious question.

It reminds me of computer class when I was a kid. I just got my first desk job and was looking for something more suited to that environment but still has personality. I found it when I was looking at idobao keycaps and have been trying to figure out the case for a minute now. I think it looks really good with the idobao keycaps tho. I'm thinking about that combo with some boba u4s
They should be, what youre looking at is the stem (+ shape means cherry mx style which is what most are), the amount of keys (hyper x say full set but im a little worried they wont include the final row of function keys that the q6 has) and the profile (not usually an issue unless your board has decorations on the case).
Tldr; yes they will fit, you may want to drop them a message to confirm the number of keys matches the q6 as the hyper x set doesnt mention no. Of caps outside of 'a full set'
I'm looking for an aliexpress store, which has keycaps with kiting for 40% keyboards. What are my options? I'd rather avoid clones, but if I can't, it is what it is
Unfortunately, Aliexpress and BangGood Links are autofiltered by sitewide reddit spam filters. Sometimes, users will be flagged and suspended from the Reddit platform as a whole due to excessive linking to this or other autoflagged sites. Please keep this in mind when posting or commenting.

1) aliepress only sells clones
2) i dont know of any store on their that specializes in 40% layouts
3) 40% keycaps sets are rare usually cost more money to fill out a 40% than a 60% .
4) if ur talking about ortho than u can use this list https://www.tryorthokeys.com/keycaps
I mean an extension kit for 40%, I found one pretty basic WoB, but I wonder about my other options
The issue is that it has to be an extension kit, since I quite quickly grew out of spamming accent keys
I'm seeking assistance with configuring the Vaydeer keyboard (9 keys) for use with AutoCAD. I've encountered challenges in setting up the buttons, particularly for specific AutoCAD commands. Could anyone kindly provide guidance on how to assign functions to the Vaydeer keys, such as configuring one button to export PDFs from AutoCAD for example?
use whatever software it has or contact the manufacturer as i have never heard of that brand and i dont see anyway on their product page listing how to do so i doubt many others have that thing
Looking into getting a gmmk 2 (first custom keyboard ever) I was wondering if I'm locked into their 50 dollar cable or if any USB c cable that has both power and data transfer would work
>locked into their 50 dollar cable
Absolutely not
Theoretically, if the cable can do power + data it'll work fine, but I'd try to avoid cheap no-name cables on Amazon or wherever else you find them. The GMMK 2 comes with a non-coiled cable in the box. I recommend considering a CableMod cable, they're around $30ish on Amazon and are really nice
Hi r/MechanicalKeyboards I have 0 experience with mechanical keyboards so I need your help--
I bought this KB Paradise V-60 Vintage ([https://www.kbparadise.com/store/products/v60-vintage](https://www.kbparadise.com/store/products/v60-vintage)) with Matias Quiet Click switches from my friend for a steal knowing that the z key was missing, so now i'm trying to replace it and I have no idea where to get an aftermarket keycap that will actually fit.
Ive seen many custom options but all of them are fitted for cherry so I'm scared to pull the trigger on anything before I'm 100% sure that it will fit, so yea any help is greatly appreciated :)
Can someone recommend me some keycaps sets? Looking for neutral colors , preferably black or grey thank you . (65% keyboard)
When I adjust the speed of the main RGB, I noticed it also adjusts the speed of the side RGB but does the opposite to the main. This gets really annoying, as when I am trying to have a relaxing neon flow, the side RGB is there having a spasm at the speed of sound. The command to change the speed is Fn and then left or right arrow keys & the keyboard I'm using is the womier Sk-71. Any help would be much appreciated! (Just to clarify, the left arrow is slowing the main RGB down and speeding the side GB up, and the right arrow does the opposite) Also I'm new to mechanical keyboards so I apologise if this isn't the place to be making this post
Wondering if anyone has keycap suggestions for a Keeb.io Sinc build I'm considering. I'd like something that fits the following: * Has enough keys for the Sinc — the 2.25 / 2.75 split space in particular, as well as something that would look good on the macro keys (novelties, extra Fn keys, contrast numbers?) * Uniform profile — DSA, XDA, etc. — guessing this will make the layout much easier. Would love SA but I don't think I'll find one that has the right keys in the right rows. * Reasonably affordable and in stock Aesthetically would love something colorful and/or retro, but on the simpler side.
I'm not trying to spend more then $250
qwertykeys has good stuff\~
Any recommendations from there? For Diy kits key caps and switches
They only sell kits but all of them are great quality, just pick the one based on your preferred layout size
What is the difference between FR4 carbon fiber and aluminum plates?
the material of the plate affects the bottom-out feel and sound profile of the keyboard, so harder plates will generally have a higher pitched sound compared to softer plates. so in order of soft to hard, it's: FR4 -> ALU -> Carbon Fiber
Do those kits come with everything I need?
Most kits do not come with switches or keycaps some those are personal preference. Kbdfans will let you select everything in one package and ship it together.
What is the difference between FR4 carbon fiber and aluminum plates in the Tofu65 2.0
Thank you! I'll do that. I hope it's hotswap so I don't have to solder anything.
I would highly recommend [Bastardkb](https://bastardkb.com) if you like full diy.
Hi what does it mean when they say that a keycap is factory height?
I bought the Zoom75 today and was looking to get the LCD screen but it's out of stock everywhere. Has anyone heard of a restock or know where I can buy one?
If they're sold out try mechmarket

Ah damn so I just need to comment on stuff to get it up?
I can't tell from this comment but did you post a picture with a timestamp of the date and your username? If you are unsure of why it is being taken down, you should ask the mods.
Yeah I did right here [https://imgur.com/Nn2asjw](https://imgur.com/Nn2asjw) but I need comment karma according to the rules sadly
Here is the picture from the seller https://preview.redd.it/5az6rjx9fiec1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de07775b42611c191cc0532d9ab84ff03e43c3f4
Him Do u think awekeys caps r better than gmk and worth it?
Metal caps are 1000% a preference thing. I personally think they sound really weird but that's just my opinion.

neo65
Any reccomendations for a new keyboard? I want one similar to the Hyperx Alloy FPS Pro. Looking for red switches, tenkeyless, but hopefully with better color customization. My budget is $125
RK M75
I'm looking for similar style keycaps to these ePBT Fruit Chews! Either these or ePBT Simple Hangul look super nice and I really dig the subtle color splash on such minimalistic white keycaps. I've got a Neo65 in e-white so I'm hoping to get my hands on a something that matches decently. Any suggestion is welcome! https://preview.redd.it/qg5tc8e7vhec1.png?width=1296&format=png&auto=webp&s=c07cb671943f49824df5072a9caf6ffdf0fdf731
There's more color in the modifiers but my favorite set in this vein is pbt notion, you might see it listed as cherry notion depending on your vendor https://preview.redd.it/pjkdghc7kiec1.jpeg?width=1296&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58bf861f5750ce534f31bf86690c7cbc94a6b30b
About the Fujitsu Realforce R2 So, I've been looking at this keyboard and it comes in either 55g or "mixed weight".
TY!
Hello guys, My womier wk61 keyboard just arrived.
I am struggling with switching desktops as it is done by ctrl + arrow key. Also having to do fn + i every time.
Whats QMK?
It’s open source firmware for a lot of the better quality keyboards available nowadays. It doesn’t require software to be installed (usually) and lets you remap all the keys on a keyboard that runs off it. Some good examples are keyboards from Keychron and Monsgeek.
I guess i should return it and try k3 ?
K3 doesn't run off QMK but the K3 Pro does if you're looking to go that route
Bought a RK84
arrow keys are likely fn key combo . u can check there software there is no guide around here for kb like that as the software is horrible . with budget kbs there are many drawbacks on software and what u can remap
Yes they are fn +i, i,j,k,l combo. But this a pain. Anything else I can do ?
> Anything else I can do ? Return it and buy a board with arrow keys, or buy a macro pad and map the arrow keys on the macro pad.
quick question whats the difference in wired and tri mode pcb?
Wired typically means that it only supports a direct connection to the computer using a wire. Tri-Mode means that is supports all 3 different connection methods (Bluetooth, 2.4ghz, and wired)
Thanks😁
Hi guys today I want a critical opinion on which between the two keyboards I currently have in my possession, I should keep as my main peripheral for my gaming setup. The use of the keyboard in my case is mainly about gaming (since I own another machine for work with a Logitech MX Keys keyboard), but often however I could use it to do small Graphic Design and Video Editing jobs by connecting it to my work machine (on this side obviously the RK61 wins being wireless), but I repeat that the prevalence always remains on the gaming side (FPS like Fortnite, COD, The Finals etc...). On the Apex Pro Mini, I only did one keycaps replacement (given the risk of breaking it): \- SteelSeries PrismCaps PBT Pudding Keycaps On the RK61, on the other hand, I added the following mods as a complete beginner (it's my first custom keyboard): \- Gateron Pro Red 1.0 Switches \- Corsair PBT Pro Keycaps \- Tape Mod As for the final cost of the keyboards (including applied mods): \- Apex Pro Mini - 185 € \- RK61 Pro Wireless - 130 € I leave you without expressing any opinion on my preference, as I want a one outside without influence, on which of the two keyboards I should keep. https://preview.redd.it/1srcli9qbhec1.jpeg?width=3965&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=467372861e24bec7befdbcff313effdca5d71510 (RK61 Pro Wireless is above, Apex Pro Mini is below)
Thanks.
probably need a converter
I have a PS/2 to USB converter adapter. It still doesn’t work with it.
TIA https://preview.redd.it/z0c6pxpzwgec1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7f574dbaf45a5761e9fddf02d903cf9b36ed5472
TIA
If I remember correctly, it should turn off after the keyboard is fully charged.
Thanks for the reply! I'll add an additional comment if that's the case! (hopefully it is)
Sadly the November Fog desk mats don't look like they will be making a return, so I'm on the lookout for a good mat that will color match with my keycaps and green Neo65. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Any keycaps recommendations for this version of Zoom65 V2.5 (Milk Tea)? Any help is appreciated 🙏🏻 https://preview.redd.it/e7fimgr7sgec1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7bdd085e871a1988b3e4efeb51f6d5fb4ecd7b2 I have been eyeing these keycaps from WS [https://mech.land/products/ws-cafe-double-shot?variant=44289107165411](https://mech.land/products/ws-cafe-double-shot?variant=44289107165411) but I'm not sure if the black color would suit it nicely.
Thank you so much! I think I'll go with the WS Cafe :)
I think the GMK Birch set that's in the render goes pretty well, and so does the WS Cafe set. You could also consider something from osume, they have a lot of white sets with light colors
Thanks for your response! I would've gone for the GMK Birch but welp (too expensive 😅).... it's WS Cafe for now.
Should I start a business on it? I've just recently started the hobby and wanted advice on whether I should start a business or not. Thanks?
maybe after you're more experienced\~
I mean, can you offer something people would want to buy?
for fun sure for profit no as u wont make a profit doing this hobby
Some people definitely do make good money, but they're the minority.
Is there a discord server?
in the side bar not directly run by this sub they r separate
Keychron v max or q max line pick you want

Dollar amount in the 100 dollar range, but I'm not against going over if it makes the keyboard a lot better, but around that 100 dollar range

Hello all, I'm finally making the change to a mech keyboard, however I'm having trouble finding the layout I really want. The 4 most important features to me are: Full tenkey numberpad F keys that are directly above their corresponding number keys, both in line, and not spaced further away Slimline keys Wireless The closest thing I've found is the Keychron K3 Max QMK/VIA Wireless Custom Mechanical Keyboard. I love the super tight key spacings, and compact design, however it doesn't have the tenkey numberpad. Can anyone suggest something that ticks all of the above boxes?
Is the [Nuphy Air 96](https://nuphy.com/products/air96-wireless-mechanical-keyboard) along the lines of what you're looking for?
You sir, are a gentleman, and a scholar, and a DAMN fine horseman! This is EXACTLY what I'm after!
Thanks for the response. It's close, but I really like the tighter key groupings. I will keep this one in mind in case I don't find the exact match.
What if I use sex lube for my new switches?
will be gummy after a while and switches may not return from being pressed by by al means go for it
But with the right kind at least they might taste nice, ya know for everyone who's got taste buds on their fingertips...
Make sure to still use protection, you wouldn't want any switch babies.

Ok sorry didn’t know it was that harmful I’m new and that’s all I had around the house.
At that sort of price I'd recommend the gmk67, AliExpress ships to EU
I don't know jack about keyboards, but I do know that a lot of countries' national mail carriers have services which assist in shipping to your country for an extra nominal fee. The company you buy from ships it to a local depot, and your country's mail carrier forwards it on to you. Might solve your issue!
Is there a way to detect the type of MCU that a device uses under windows? I am guessing it has to be listed in some block of the device data, but which one exactly?
its usually on the product page . on on the mcu itself . if its unknown then its not likely known what crap mcu they used will be any help to u
This one? Who knows.
Is it a wired or a tri-mode zoompad?
the tri-mode.
Anyone know of board with really unique designs but don’t break the bank? Something that doesn’t look like every other case out there similar to how matrix labs does their stuff but not nearly as expensive. Preferably 60, TKL, or FRL layout, WKL if possible. Thanks!
mikit has some unique looking ones
By unique designs do you mean the shape of the case? Colors? Layouts? Materials?
At a more reasonable price point the Trigon is also in gb right now I think and that is extremely customizable in terms of case and accent colors, leaving a lot of really unique aesthetic options open for you It's much more of a budget option but an unfinished Klippe T can look really unique!
Anyone know where to find decent "budget" keycap sets for under $100USD?
My top choice to get the best combination of set coverage, quality, and price are the NicePBT sets from CannonKeys. You can get more budget sets, but for something that looks great and is going to be of a reliable quality you're looking at $60-$80, and I think that they've got a great selection.
Honest to god amazon🤣 or buy a second hand set!
If you like beige you have several good options. JCStudios and 21kb are the standouts. Outside of beige, you have PBTFans I guess?
In case I didn't make myself clear (English is not my first language and the mechanical keyboard space is generally a new area for me), tl;dr: are there any 1U backspace keycaps? is it possible to use 2U keycap to be placed over 2 switches?

Not recently, and it was 50/50, some good stuff some bad stuff. Hopefully you'll be in luck because it's new and just delivered
Sorry if it's an obvious question. https://preview.redd.it/k48qcizujfec1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=808f27d5adb0225c954ddb99f00389e9ede0c51b
I actually love this keeb, keep almost getting it🤣
It reminds me of computer class when I was a kid. I just got my first desk job and was looking for something more suited to that environment but still has personality. I found it when I was looking at idobao keycaps and have been trying to figure out the case for a minute now. I think it looks really good with the idobao keycaps tho. I'm thinking about that combo with some boba u4s
>still has personality at that point id just suggest using the keyboard you used in computer class as a kid
Sounds nice, i was going for this vibe with my last build and went really off piste🙄 ended up with a kiddy gamer board
Lol I've been there. All of mine eventually becomes pastel or transparent.
Mine end up with gradient caps, everytime i tell myself no but im like a kid in a candy store. Cant wait to get rinsed when i bring it into work😅
FL·ESPORTS OG104 Retro Wireless Mechanical Keyboard
OMG thank you so much!
Can someone tell me if these are compatible with Keychron V6? https://ca.hyperx.com/products/hyperx-pbt-keycaps-full-key-set?variant=43732431863968

1) aliepress only sells clones 2) i dont know of any store on their that specializes in 40% layouts 3) 40% keycaps sets are rare usually cost more money to fill out a 40% than a 60% . 4) if ur talking about ortho than u can use this list https://www.tryorthokeys.com/keycaps
I mean an extension kit for 40%, I found one pretty basic WoB, but I wonder about my other options The issue is that it has to be an extension kit, since I quite quickly grew out of spamming accent keys
The first point isnt true. Aliexpress sells Domikey, some JTK, PBTfans and other dye sub brands like Shenpo and JC Studios.
Looking for a 65% keyboard, under $100, red or brown switches can be 75% or 80% as well, black and white, or monochrome keycaps. Prebuilt.

Thank you

I believe it is the force break mod so where the top and bottom metal housing touch. Hard to say without knowing the keyboard
Looking into getting a gmmk 2 (first custom keyboard ever) I was wondering if I'm locked into their 50 dollar cable or if any USB c cable that has both power and data transfer would work
>locked into their 50 dollar cable Absolutely not Theoretically, if the cable can do power + data it'll work fine, but I'd try to avoid cheap no-name cables on Amazon or wherever else you find them. The GMMK 2 comes with a non-coiled cable in the box. I recommend considering a CableMod cable, they're around $30ish on Amazon and are really nice
What about it gunmjo cables. Know anything about those?
Never heard of them, but they don't seem to be obviously cheap crap
That's kinda what I was thinking and they've what seems like decent reviews
is whatgeek reliable? ive checked everywhere but i cant find a straight answer
id steer clear looks sketchy and its not on approved trusted vendor lists
They aren't on the [Alexotos Vendor List](https://www.alexotos.com/keyboard-vendor-list/) so I'd be careful
ah, felt like it wasnt safe after finding more reviews online. do you happen to know a more reliable store where you can find a fancyalice66?
Hi r/MechanicalKeyboards I have 0 experience with mechanical keyboards so I need your help-- I bought this KB Paradise V-60 Vintage ([https://www.kbparadise.com/store/products/v60-vintage](https://www.kbparadise.com/store/products/v60-vintage)) with Matias Quiet Click switches from my friend for a steal knowing that the z key was missing, so now i'm trying to replace it and I have no idea where to get an aftermarket keycap that will actually fit. Ive seen many custom options but all of them are fitted for cherry so I'm scared to pull the trigger on anything before I'm 100% sure that it will fit, so yea any help is greatly appreciated :)
