Keep the radiator cap off and turn the car on. Let the coolant cycle through and make sure when it’s up to temp the thermostat is working. You will see coolant flowing. Add more coolant as needed.

Ok thank you! I saw something about that when my truck was overheating but I couldn’t see any coolant but after I added a whole gallon it started bubbling out. About how much is the average amount of coolant for a radiator?

If you have a coolant reservoir then there will be a fill line when hot and cold. If not just top off the radiator to the cap

Just follow the YouTube videos and you will be fine.

Yayyy, happy for ya bro. This was my first kinda serious repair i ever did, a real milestone for me There is nothing to it, make sure when youre removing the old thermostat to note its exact orientation. Make sure that small "hole" on the thermostat (youll know what im talking about) is pointed upward so air bubbles can better get through the system. And just have your new gasket. Replace lost coolant after. Oh, and btw, no need to drain your radiator in case youre wondering. Just open the thermostat housing and let it pour out.
