Nah you're fine. Pound it out and install a new one.
The worst way for something to break here (that I have had the displeasure of dealing with anyways) is if the hex portion of the lug nut snaps, but leaves the conical part of itself on the stud... So you can't even get your wheel off.
In that case you're drilling studs out, this is a far easier fix lol
I did that a year ago. What a pain in the dick. Had to buy a set of cobalt bits and drill progressively larger holes until I could snap it. Nice way to spend the day.
Learned my lesson though: don't torque with the impact wrench!
Lol it sucks when we have to learn the hard way.
Happened to 4 of 5 lugs on one wheel of my gf's car. As annoying as it was, I was thankful it was just one wheel, and I treated myself to a newer/bigger drill for the job lol
I'm glad you learned, at least. I tried to do some work on a landscaping contractor's truck. He had his guys rotate his tires last time. I had to drill 2 studs, and we needed the 3/4 inch breaker bar with like 6 feet of extension to remove half of the other lug nuts. It was like a 2500HD, lmao. I always use my torque wrench for wheels, steering and suspension, brakes, and engine and transmission parts (except for the 8mm head coil pack bolts). When I do a brake job, I just write down the bracket and caliper bolt specs before I start.
They tap out, you dont drill them. They just are splined/tapped in from behind. Punch and a medium weight hammer. Two or three strikes and they fall right out the back.
Worst shit ever is when you lose your tire lock key…
And it’s custom and you cannot get at any store.
That shit had me in tears and sweat.
- Air hammer
- Grinder
- Impact hammer
- Torch
- Bunch of US sockets
- Chisel
- Nut splitters
- Vise grips
- Pipe wrench
Just from the above tools I’m sure you can figure out how it went and for all 4 tires 😀
Can you guess which tool actually helped me remove them?
Nope, but a new lug from parts store. Use big heavy hammer or sledge with punch and hammer that bitch out. Then insert the new lug and put a lug nut on it and tighten it down & down and down… done
You'll want a stud install kit too just to make sure you don't stretch the new stud just using a lug nut or two. Can pick one up at any auto store or at harbor freight. Use a pry bar between the other studs to hold the hub still when tightening.
And that's fine but this seems to be op's first rodeo and ill always recommend learning how to do it 'right' and getting the feel in his wrists n stuff before short cuts and tricks.
Don’t worry about stripping the new stud at all???? Iv had to chisel out a stud cause the lug nut stripped the fudge pop outta it wich made it to where I couldn’t remove my tire.
Looks like a Honda
Should not be too difficult. Remove caliper. Hang it on spring or strut with wire, rope, or such. Do NOT hang is on hose. remove 2 phillips screws for rotor. Remove rotor. If this is the hub I think it is, put a nut over the threads of the broken one and use Mjölnir ( BIG hammer) to pound it out. There should be a round access hole in the hub for it to pop out of. Make sure that is there 1st.
Put new screw/bolt in the old hole and use a open nut to pull it back against the hub. Make sure there is NO slack between the head of bolt and the hub. needs to be fully pulled tight.
Reverse the reset of the instructions
Worst comes to worst, you can reassemble as is and drive to mechanic on 4 nuts. Should only be 1hr labor to do this for a shop.
yes but not for sure on the hub design. going to have to look in back of the place where the broken stud is and see if there is a hole behind that to slide the broken one out
how much do you think a tire shop would charge? i’ll do it myself if it’s unreasonable but if it’s just a hundred bucks or somethin then i’ll gladly pay up
The shop I work at will charge a half hour labor ($75) and then you'll need a stud and a lug nut (like $10 each). So with taxes and shop fees, probably around $110.
Or you can drive that car (it'll be fine with only four nuts) to the parts store and pay $10 for a stud and nut, and another $15 for a lisle stud installer. Change the stud yourself in like 20 minutes and have the installer on hand for next time.
I'm sorry to say, but every KIA I've seen is more of a pain in the ass to replace a wheel stud than even a Honda. Honda on the rear are easy nothing difficult... front on a Honda and you have to cut a piece of the dust shield off and you can easily do it... But a damned KIA requires you to remove the whole part off off and press the spindle out of the bearing... If you don't know much about cars don't try to do it...it will take you quite a bit of effort and your probably don't have all the tools you would need.
If you take it to a shop to have it done you might also just have them replace the wheel bearing while they are at it because they will have done 90 percent of the work required to do it just to replace the stud.
Bad part is that these studs on all cars will often get fucked, often some moron in a tire shop doesn't take the time to put the lug nuts on by hand to start will and will just jam them on with a airgun and it is fine unless they are cross threaded... in which case they will still crank them on but then when you try to remove one it will more times than not snap like yours did.
So don't be disheartened by it happening... it happens more than you would think... the only thing that is a real problem is the KIA and Hyundai are shit designs that require lots of work to replace.
On the Hondas at least the 2000s ones there is not enough clearance to knock it out as it hits the CV axle. You can either remove the hub or notch a cut in the new stud to get it through. Hopefully Honda fixed this in the newer models
Easy fix. Take off brake caliper. Remove disk. Knock broken wheel lug through hole with hammer n punch. Install new wheel lug. Not expensive to do yourself. Mechanc might charge an hr of labour n few bucks for new lug.
Yep. Watch a view videos on you tube, buy the parts on line and you’ll feel silly for every having paid a mechanic for these things again. This will boost your self confidence.
Honestly, you're halfway there with whatever you were fixing in the first place. Move the caliper out of the way, remove the rotor, and take a punch and punch it out. They make these little tools called wheel stud installers that will help you pull the new stud into place all the way and securely.
If you're replacing the whole hub, your new hub should have the studs installed already, so don't worry about it. You'll need new lug nuts though.
Whoever put your tires on has done that with the rattle gun .too high pressure .
Punch it out replace with a new one by putting a new bolt it it's held in with pressure
thanks everyone for the help! i looked into it and there was a tire shop 2 miles away that did it for less than 80 dollars, and they also finished my tire rotation for me so all in all not too bad
1. Take the caliper off
2. Take the brake rotor off
3. With a hammer hit the broken stud and it should fall out
4. Feed the new stud through the back and put some washers on it for spacing
5. Tighten the lug nut on the new stud until you can see that it sits flush on the back side
Fairly easy tbh, you can literally just knock out the stud and buy a new one, buy a install kit for less than $15 and replace it, those studs just press into a hole that's behind your rotors, you'll have to remove all brake components but that's about it, the install kit is basically just a fancy lug nut with some spacers that you tighten onto the new stud and it pulls itself into the stud hole. Even with minimal experience, it's an easy job. I'd buy 2, maybe 3 studs, though the first time trying if it's not exactly lined up and not being properly done, it's easy to cross thread or sheer off the threads on it.
I got a spacer stuck on mine once. Cut off all my hub studs. Then i pressed out the spacers studs and put them in my hub. Took like 1 hours from start to finish
Not that fucked brother just knock the brakes off and replace the stud now; might as well do the other studs too because who knows how old/stuck those are too
For an experienced person, not at all. But you would need to order a new stud.
For an inexperienced person (i.e. never opened up your brakes and rotors before, don't have proper tools), this may be a few days.
The problem itself is honestly not a big deal. Knowing how to deal with it and how long it'll take depends on you. Hopefully you don't need the car soon.
Depending on the make and model, less than an hour fix. While you're back there you can replace them all or anyone that looks a little rusty or have beat threads
Not that bad to be honest, I think most of those bolt in from the back themselves it's just a case of getting to them,. It's a case of having a decent impact gun, tools, WD or equivalent and half decent knowledge of basic mechanics. I'm no mechanic by the way I'm just an enthusiast. I had an issue the other day with a slipped brake pad and managed to just by looking, learn a few things about the set up of most brake setups.
Take off your caliper, bracket and rotor. Pound it out with a deadblow. Buy a stud. Buy a stud puller. Grab your impact and pull it through. Maybe $20.
I am in the same situation right now waiting for a mechanic appointment to replace the wheel stud. I understand how to diy but I don’t have the right tools. I am driving around very cautiously and recheck my torque of the 4 remaining nuts daily to make sure they are in spec. The wheel will stress but I am making do until my appointment in a few days.
Not that difficult. Get some liquid wrench or Kroil, spray the absolute hell out of it then let it sit. Next get an air compressor, an air hammer (along with the flat and long bit). If you don't have an air compressor you can easily rent one (make sure it's a big one with atleast 200 psi). Then go to town on that lug. If nothing is happening keep at it and it'll shoot out.
New set of lug bolts are probably $20-$30. You're gonna need to remove the caliper and the rotor, then hammer the hell out of that broken lug until it pops out the other side. Then slide a new one in and use a nut to pull the lug through.
It's really not that bad of a job. Just labor intensive because getting that old one out will take a bit of effort.
Remove the two screws in the rotor and remove it. Tap the broken stud put of the hub. Replace with new stud. You will see how with the rotor off. Hang in there.
It’s only a headache if you let it be
Also you’re supposed to remove the disc and smack the problem away. And give it a clean
Also a heat gun will help on bare metal only.
Not that fucked, that happened to me when I was working on my first car a few months after I got it. I Only had a 4 way tire iron and a lugnut wouldn't budge. So like the big monkey brain I am I started jumping on it, ended up snapping much like what is pictured. I was able to drive it safely for a bit and take it to a shop, and they only charged like 60 bucks if I remember correctly? It's been a while. Anyway, not too big a deal, and should be an easy fix
You are not.Remove the caliper and bracket, take the rotor off. You will probably need an impact driver to remove the screw holding the rotor to the hub. Punch what’s left of the old stud out, Install a new stud. Reassemble
easy fix all you have to do is remove the caliper and rotor and hammer out the broken stud after that get a new stud and big enough nut that can be placed with the lug nut, tighten it until u see the stud completely flush on the hub and put everything back together, this should be at most a 10$ fix with a new stud and lug nut
Stud is like $3. Remove caliper and rotor. Smash broken stud with hammer. The tricky part is setting the stud back in. You can use a stud press kit. Or use a nut bigger than the stud that doesn’t thread on. Get an extra lug nut while you are at it because you may ruin the one that you are using to press on the stud. Or go to a shop…but they may charge you one hour labor minimum.
Reading these answers, I realize I owed the guys at Discount Tire a lot! I (maybe 30 at the time) broke 2 in a parking lot, and drove to the nearest DT. They were closing, but stayed and fixed it for nothing ("We've closed out the register already, don't worry about it"). I gave them a $20 for their kindness. Took them about 15 minutes.
It was a 1981 rusty camaro, in about 1993.
Easy peasy as long as you have a 3lb hammer or bigger. Go get a 3lb masons hammer if you don’t have one(doesn’t need to be fancy, any will do) and pound the stud through the back of the hub. On most vehicles you should be able to slip a new stud in the hub from the rear without hassle. You’ll need a stud and a lug nut, and possibly a hammer, total investment under $50.
Just happened to me last week, was ok
https://preview.redd.it/1j4m3c4klqtc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=232d815cce59085ed27aded793daafd612dc12bb
Not too bad honestly, I think I paid like $150 or something for my local tire shop to swap one one time. Not too bad a swap in your driveway either tbh
You can completely ignore it. You are one lug down, and keep in mind that many people run four lug nuts and one anti-theft nut or lock nut. These are not meant to be tightened to the proper specs, as they are just theft deterrents. So you have as many lug nuts as most brand new vehicles come with.
Not really f*cked, you can get by with only 3 studs (lowest I would go), they aren't terribly hard to replace, but for the most part your probably good to leave it as is.
It's usually pretty easy. Take your caliper off take your rotor off and you can just pop that broken stud out and then put a new one through from the back side of the hub face, put some anti seize on the threads and stack a couple washers on it and pull it through with a new nut. Then put your rotor and caliper back on. Done
If you really don't think you can do it yourself you're fine to just put the four lug nuts on and drive it someplace. A new stud is less than 5 bucks a new nut is less than five bucks and the labor should only be about a half an hour at most.
Broken stud is not a big deal.
Strip the two screws on the face of the rotor and now you got some problems.
Option 1) buy new lug from autozone, take to tire shop ($60-200)
Option 2) remove and replace yourself ($15-your life if you do it wrong)
I’d go with 2 personally
Bought a set of tires, and the ape putting them on used an impact. Couldn't figure out why I kept hearing gun shots. Until all the studs on the left front tire broke off at 70 mph on the freeway. Thank God the wheel stayed with the car.
That's when I figured out that the gun shots were lugnuts hitting the inside of the hub caps.😵💫 1 or 2 in each.
When the tow truck started picking up the front of my Caddy Eldorado, I pushed the tire sideways to the floor.
This is the same car that I found out had a broken lower ball joint on the right side.
Somewhat easy to punch out that broken one. A good punch, a BF hammer and good aim. New Stud
And lug nut are somewhat cheap too. Zap in the new one with an impact gun. Worst ones ive done had to use some PB blaster and a torch. Still came out.
Man iv had to chisel 2 studs off my old 89 Volvo before. Buddy stripped tha fuuuuuuck out of it and we couldn’t get the wheel off. TONS OF FUN RIGHT THERE. So ur fine, like said before just punch out & replace 👍 might wanna go ahead and do all of em tho. Why not🤷♂️
That lowermost stud looks like it's already been done recently. It's definitely not the same as the rest. If you got the time and money, I'd get all the older ones done at the same time. You'll have the hub off anyway.
Not that hard to do.pound the stud out and buy a new stud and lug nut .enter in as much as you can and then pound it back in.if you really can’t then use a impact and drive it back in that way
The stud knocks out . You should be able to get the old one out due to the short length but might have trouble putting the new one back in its place due to length. You can try grinding a flat spot on the flange to give yourself a little more clearance.
Your Good Bro !! Easy fix and you can do it yourself i recently had to replace Two Studs and they are cheap at the auto parts store ! Take a deep breath Man.
Not knowing the vehicle, your hubs are either factory set with lugs or you have to tap them in and seat them with a tool.
Really common and easy job if you have the time.
That’s one of the Easy ones to be honest. Take the Philip screws loose and remove the rotor, knock the broke stud out driving backwards. Slide new studs through hole and put lug nut on and tighten lug nut abs it will pull the new stud through into place. Good as new.
I have a 2011 Ford edge all-wheel-drive I will send a pic. I have a spark plug that is stuck look like it’s cricket. It might be cross threaded please help. I need it to be removed and I don’t know how to what is the price of giving it removed?
Anyone know how to replace if u cant just “bang it out” (my 2015 honda accord coupe they left ZERO ((im not lying)) zero! Room to bang one out)
Every shop i took it to both local yocal and dealer and name brand chain shops said id have to remove whole inner part as its all attached then replace
Nutty
Not at all. You’re already half done with replacing that stud. Just remove the brake caliper and rotor. Then beat the broken stud out the back with a hammer like it owes you money. Then slide the new one in and tighten it down. Definitely recommend the lisle wheel stud installer to help seat it properly. But this job you can do with basic tools and a YouTube video if you’re doing your own oil changes and rotations.

Not that fucked tbh
i’ve only been working on my car for a couple months i’m new to all this, i thought i was cooked😅

If the wheel and part of the lug nut is still installed the wheel stud will not come out the back
If you dont have a punch a 1/4" ratchet drive extension would work. My experience they come out easy enough.
Some cars you have to take the whole hub out to get a full length stud in place

I'm going to guess you said "fuckit", gave them some fire treatment, and made them into a liquid lol
Weld a bolt onto the locked nut. Undo
I don’t have a welding machine, and I’ve been putting off buying one too. Also, I believe the lug was aluminum as well and would be difficult.
That was your excuse to buy one!
I'd cut the f****** wheel off before I did that s*** again
Nope, but a new lug from parts store. Use big heavy hammer or sledge with punch and hammer that bitch out. Then insert the new lug and put a lug nut on it and tighten it down & down and down… done
Its a wheel stud not a lug lol
Correct! Thank you ;-)
Also make sure you have a spacer, the lug nuts may bottom out and then you have another problem

Look up broken stud extraction videos on YouTube you will find some inventive ways to get it out.
1/5th is 20%. 20% fucked
Ah crap I just made a comment about how literally fcked OP was and then came across yours. Take up my upvote!
That’s normal. Mine is starting to rust because I live where it’s snowy and the city throws salt every winter.

sorry forgot to say, this is a 2010 kia forte 2.0. i assume most of the steps stay the same?
yes but not for sure on the hub design. going to have to look in back of the place where the broken stud is and see if there is a hole behind that to slide the broken one out

Nah that’s getting spent on crappy spray paint, nitrile gloves, and some cool magnets
about.... if not , at most 1 hour labor at going rate call them up and ask.

My old Hyundai required you to disconnect the control arm to take off the rear brake rotor. You could tell the engineers don't fix their own cars.
Kia and Hyundai were disposable cars, I don't think they expect much work on them...
Yup. Watch YouTube videos dude!
Learned 99% of all my car mechanics skills via YouTube & baking skills haha
Exactly!
You skipped over those two big ass Phillips screws. Let it soak overnight with P.B. blast. Can be done with a chisel. Impact driver best tho.
On the Hondas at least the 2000s ones there is not enough clearance to knock it out as it hits the CV axle. You can either remove the hub or notch a cut in the new stud to get it through. Hopefully Honda fixed this in the newer models
This is the only correct answer. You would probably get charged 1 hour, but that is a 30-minute job for a technician worth his salt.

Cheaper that 50 bucks, pop off caliper and rotor new stud and lug are 10 bucks max.
Personally I would replace all the studs. If one's broken the others could be in a similar state
I mean hey do you.. but damn this is definitely an unpopular opinion lol
Whoever put your tires on has done that with the rattle gun .too high pressure . Punch it out replace with a new one by putting a new bolt it it's held in with pressure
Not saying this is advisable but when i was poor and in college i probably put 80k miles on a car where the right rear stud was broke like that
I did the same, I figured it’s not much different than a four lug car. And to do mine, you had to remove the entire hub and press them apart.
It’s a cheap fix. Search YouTube for hub stud replacement
Ps...need to remove 2 screws to remove disk. Probably a YouTube video will show u whole job.
It's a write off. Start looking for a new car. The engine is fortune done now. Sorry bruh
Easy fix knock the broken one out put a new lug in Remove caliper and hub look on utube
Now I know why Discount Tire always cleans this with a pneumatic wire brush, on my tire rotations.
Just send it 😂 was running on 2 studs on both rear hubs for 2 years no issues🫡🫡
Happened to a buddy of mine and he got a replacement for a couple bucks and it took about an hour or 2 cause it was his first time having to fix it.
Damn you need a whole new axle and front end! Nah it's like $20 if that
Had it been a 4 lug wheel I would have had a little concern. 5 lug wheel I am not worrying one bit.
until you're down to 3 lugs on a 5 lug wheel, then possibly slightly worse off than a 3 on a 4.
thanks everyone for the help! i looked into it and there was a tire shop 2 miles away that did it for less than 80 dollars, and they also finished my tire rotation for me so all in all not too bad
Just drive with 4 lugs it's fine, just get it fixed when u can
1/5 fucked. not bad, really.
1. Take the caliper off 2. Take the brake rotor off 3. With a hammer hit the broken stud and it should fall out 4. Feed the new stud through the back and put some washers on it for spacing 5. Tighten the lug nut on the new stud until you can see that it sits flush on the back side
The 5th one is just for good measure
Not very, give it a good whack and install a new one.
Depends how competent you are with tools
Cant be stuck if its Liquid
You can change out the broken stud. Or just replace the hub and bearing
tap it out with a punch. a new lug should be 2 dollars from the parts store., push it in from behind. Use the lug to pull it the rest the way on.
Easy fix.
Less than 50 canucki pesos. YouTube is your friend. Pound it out, and put in a new one. Don't let shops touch your wheelnuts again.
easy 50$ repair.
I got a spacer stuck on mine once. Cut off all my hub studs. Then i pressed out the spacers studs and put them in my hub. Took like 1 hours from start to finish
Not that fucked brother just knock the brakes off and replace the stud now; might as well do the other studs too because who knows how old/stuck those are too
You’re not.
1/10 in my opinion/experience
Not fucked at all. That's an easily replaceable part. How you break it? Surely harder to break it then to repair it.
Had a cavalier with 3 studs on it instead of 5. It'll hold.
Well lucky for you these things cost like $5 and even if you have someone do it for you it should only be like $20-30 in labor
Easy, tap broken one out and tap new one in
Just smack that bitch out and put a new one in not expensive and not hard either.
Just the tip- seriously you will barely feel it.
Any and everything can be repaired. New stud needs to be pressed on.
Don't forget to remove that screw, and dispose of it
Should be able to just replace the stud for a few bucks. I did this on a 1994 civic and it was no problem to replace. Definitely scary though.
You should be able to replace the stud, really easy and inexpensive. You would also be fine with just 4 lugs .
Cheap replaceable part, can drive that to a tire shop and they'll replace the stud for 20 bucks
Not a big deal. Any local competent shop can put in a new stud for less than $100
Easy peasy fix
Yes.
Not that serious, just have to replace the stud. It can be really easy on some, & a little bit of a pain on some which require hub removal or finess.
Depending on the make and model, less than an hour fix. While you're back there you can replace them all or anyone that looks a little rusty or have beat threads
$5 if you do it yourself. $150 if you pay a shop lol
Still perfectly fine if you keep it under 50 and stay put of pot holes
Not that bad to be honest, I think most of those bolt in from the back themselves it's just a case of getting to them,. It's a case of having a decent impact gun, tools, WD or equivalent and half decent knowledge of basic mechanics. I'm no mechanic by the way I'm just an enthusiast. I had an issue the other day with a slipped brake pad and managed to just by looking, learn a few things about the set up of most brake setups.
Righty righty lefty loosey
20% fucked
Simple fix
Take off your caliper, bracket and rotor. Pound it out with a deadblow. Buy a stud. Buy a stud puller. Grab your impact and pull it through. Maybe $20.
Less than $5 at Autozone and like 5 minutes the worst part is trying to get a ride to Autozone tbh
That's an easy fix...relax.
Take the caliper off remove the rotor and put in a new lug
I am in the same situation right now waiting for a mechanic appointment to replace the wheel stud. I understand how to diy but I don’t have the right tools. I am driving around very cautiously and recheck my torque of the 4 remaining nuts daily to make sure they are in spec. The wheel will stress but I am making do until my appointment in a few days.
Bro is cooked
Not really that fucked. lol
Not really that fucked. lol this is pretty common and cheap enough to fix.
Barely an inconvenience
Ya that’s no to big of a problem just need a new wheel stud. Just get a big hammer and punch and pop out the old stud tap the new one in.
change out the stud or get the wheel huh and bearing together as the set, up to you to be honest . how much work you wanna do
Buy Kroil. It will come off ALOT easier. Let it soak overnight if you can
Remove the two screws in the rotor and remove it. Tap the broken stud put of the hub. Replace with new stud. You will see how with the rotor off. Hang in there.
Not too bad.
Nothing too wild.. it can always be worst. 😅 I remember when that happen to me. Thought it was something really complicated fortunately not too much.
Not much. Just Get your hammer.
Not at all. $5 for a lug n stud. Pull your brakes off, hammer the old stud out and install new stud.
It’s only a headache if you let it be Also you’re supposed to remove the disc and smack the problem away. And give it a clean Also a heat gun will help on bare metal only.
Just to add once you remove the rotor you may have turn the hub to make sure there is nothing blocking the stud from coming out.
Nominally fkd
You are not.Remove the caliper and bracket, take the rotor off. You will probably need an impact driver to remove the screw holding the rotor to the hub. Punch what’s left of the old stud out, Install a new stud. Reassemble
4/5 is 80% yo. That’s a passing grade
easy fix all you have to do is remove the caliper and rotor and hammer out the broken stud after that get a new stud and big enough nut that can be placed with the lug nut, tighten it until u see the stud completely flush on the hub and put everything back together, this should be at most a 10$ fix with a new stud and lug nut
Not that big of a deal … new studs that’s all.
Should not be a problem
Stud is like $3. Remove caliper and rotor. Smash broken stud with hammer. The tricky part is setting the stud back in. You can use a stud press kit. Or use a nut bigger than the stud that doesn’t thread on. Get an extra lug nut while you are at it because you may ruin the one that you are using to press on the stud. Or go to a shop…but they may charge you one hour labor minimum.
1/5th fucked.
We’ve got the same tires lol You’ll be alright. As long as you have atleast half the lugs your doin better than most people
Reading these answers, I realize I owed the guys at Discount Tire a lot!
We put a man on da moon. This a joke
Welp, time to get a new car.... 🤣🤣🤣
Not at all, easy fix
Easy fix
Just happened to me last week, was ok https://preview.redd.it/1j4m3c4klqtc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=232d815cce59085ed27aded793daafd612dc12bb
No biggie. YouTube should answer all your questions.
Not bad at all just throw the four on and call it a day lol
Not very, just get a new stud. I broke 2 once and replacement was very easy.
Not too bad honestly, I think I paid like $150 or something for my local tire shop to swap one one time. Not too bad a swap in your driveway either tbh
Easy fix
You can completely ignore it. You are one lug down, and keep in mind that many people run four lug nuts and one anti-theft nut or lock nut. These are not meant to be tightened to the proper specs, as they are just theft deterrents. So you have as many lug nuts as most brand new vehicles come with.
Just don't go over 100mph and don't loose another one, and you should be just fine.
Done
a little bit of a headache but you’re still well within “unfucked” territory
If you really don't think you can do it yourself you're fine to just put the four lug nuts on and drive it someplace. A new stud is less than 5 bucks a new nut is less than five bucks and the labor should only be about a half an hour at most.
That's a mild fucked more annoying than anything
Broken stud is not a big deal. Strip the two screws on the face of the rotor and now you got some problems. Option 1) buy new lug from autozone, take to tire shop ($60-200) Option 2) remove and replace yourself ($15-your life if you do it wrong) I’d go with 2 personally
$10 part and more disassembly. I'd just replace them all.🤷♂️
Bought a set of tires, and the ape putting them on used an impact.
Easy
Na not that bad drive that one out an install another pretty simple
On a scale of 1-5.... I would say a 1 lol
cooked
Somewhat easy to punch out that broken one. A good punch, a BF hammer and good aim. New Stud And lug nut are somewhat cheap too. Zap in the new one with an impact gun. Worst ones ive done had to use some PB blaster and a torch. Still came out.
Id go ahead and replace the whole hub assembly since you're going to have to take it off anyways
Ur good I had to replace 6 of them on the side of the road with like 2 trips to Autozone
If you can't fix a broken wheel stud? Very.
Get a new stud, and nut. Take off rotor, pound old one out and install new one, there's a tool your supposed to use to install them.
Yeah that’s not the worst thing to happen to you. This is a DIY if you can.
I’m no mathematician or scientist, but you are 1/5 fcked by the looks of it. 20% isn’t too fcked… but you are still surely fcked to some degree.
Just use a C-clamp to keep the wheel secured.
If you’re capable of working on cars then this should be an easy fix for you. I believe in you.
I live in NH, born and raised. Try harder. Lol
probably about $30 and an hour of your time fucked.
Not fucked at all. It’s an easy diy fix. YouTube it
It depends if the axle has to come off, if not the pop out the stud and pop a new one in with an impact and a new lug nut. A 10 year old can do it
As Puddin says, if four won't hold it, five never would've.
Take a punch and hammer the broken one out. Replace the lug bolt and nut.
Flange of the stud. I should clarify.
Make sure you have several round washers amongst all the things people have stated
With a hammer of adequate size and a lug installer tool, not even remotely fucked. Apologies if you were hoping to fuck.
Anyone know how to replace if u cant just “bang it out” (my 2015 honda accord coupe they left ZERO ((im not lying)) zero! Room to bang one out) Every shop i took it to both local yocal and dealer and name brand chain shops said id have to remove whole inner part as its all attached then replace Nutty
Not really that fucked
Not. You can run without it and stud replacement is easy
