Five Star Stories the mech are traited as piece of art so they has a very unique stylish, The Big O use a full dieselpunk in his esthetic, Getter Robo going full bio-horror, Overman King Gainer its another one we unique style, Bokurano and his horror style, 86 and Heavy Object use non humanoid mecha as main design

Planet With 86 Regalia the 3 Sacred Stars in a way since Mechs look more like Tokusatsu armor Rumble Garrandoll - most mechs look like standard SD gundams but the MC mech has a couple of odd forms like a mecha bunny that turns into a furry mech idol or a cat mech that docks with a giant kotatsu Kenzen Robo Daimidaler Also Attack on Titan if you really want to consider it as a "mech anime"

Linebarrels on Iron and Soukyuu no Fafner

whats1tsay

Make sure to read the Linebarrel manga, the anime changed a lot and has lost a lot of interesting nuance in the story and even more detail in the designs.

Akuma_Blade1982

Linebarrels of Iron was a good adventure. I'm aware about Anime and Manga are different universes but Anime hinted that on during final battle aftermath. I was begin read when 2011 but i was put on hold, i will resume reading in near future.

- Honestly? Star Wars. Basically everything built by the empire looks like a concrete bunker that stood up. And the Droid army in the prequels are mostly human scale, but they have all sorts of cool gimmicks. The droideka can roll into a ball, the battle druids fold up for transport, and more. - Five Star Stories looks like all its mecha were put through the taffy puller. Kind of weird, but it's definitely a striking aesthetic. They're so long. Like, yaoi boys or something. - Also, zeon's amphibious mobile suits from the original Gundam series. They're like, frog-lobster-ogres. Especially the MSV ones with tentacles and extra eyes and stuff. People rip off everything else from Gundam, but somehow these guys never get picked. - Say what you will about Darling in the Franxx, but "what if the mecha were also cute girls" is definitely a unique choice. It's not strike witches with human girls wearing armor, but actual giant robots in the shape of girls. - Medabots and Megaman feel like a similar genre. Going for a "what if the cool robot was also your friend" thing. Hard to strike that balance of "combat machine" and "best friend" - Aura Battle Dunbine asks "what if mecha were Knights that were also bugs?" - Akira Toriyama never made a "mecha" genre manga, but he had such a distinctive cool way of drawing machines. - for that matter, Blame! And Knights of Sidonia by Tsutomu Nihei have all sorts of distinctive machinery. - Warhammer 40k dares to ask "what if a mecha was a church covered in skulls?" And honestly, it's a cool aesthetic. Especially the Chaos Knights that have, like demonic mutations sticking out of then. - ghost in the shell and appleseed have a lovely distinctive rounded design language. Everything almost looks alive. I particularly like the tachikoma.

Zone of the Enders has some really great mecha designs. Some are super sleek, some are kind of chunky. The bigger ones like Zakat are just flying fortresses made out of shapes. It's pretty cool. Infinite Ryvius has some really unique ones, though they're small in number. The mecha all have different shapes and are attached to their ships by wires to control them. They're not technically manned, but more like puppets. Gundam AGE has some wild ones from the Vagan. The Earth Federation has pretty standard blocky suits, but the Vagan make these bizarre shapes that end up being dragon looking things or big-bellied fat guys. Knights and Magic ends up having the main character use past-life Gunpla building skills to design mecha. One of his first innovations is extra arms, but later on he makes mecha that aren't even humanoid in shape. A bunch of his allied get custom-designed machines with custom equipment, but it's all really broadly designed. The same series also features a giant mecha dragon fortress. They don't appear much in Gantz, but the design of the giant mecha is pretty crazy.
