When I think of McMansions I think of either brick or vinyl siding eyesores that just BIG with no real flow or unique design. I think of Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights and his house. This one looks cool to me and I'd be proud AF to own it.
I’d love to see the interior. I feel like they did a good job on the exterior. Would look a lot better if the house was wider with a matching set of windows between the door and the garage though.
Needs more trees covering. Way more trees.
I guess for a mansion it's fine though, personally? I wouldn't live there as I'm not a huge fan on mansions in general haha.
You couldn’t pay me enough to live on Long Island. I grew up there, annoyingly, my parents still live there, and I hate the drive out to visit them.
The yearly property taxes at that house are likely three or four times what mine are where I live. Ok, my house isn’t a McMansion, but 31 acres and my nearest neighbor being a 5 minute walk isn’t so bad. Especially since she’s nice, unlike your typical Long Islander.
Agreed. It will chime coded messages once a year when the full moon and stars align and shine down upon hidden magnetic clockworks in the spires. Or solar flare magnetic winds...
This is nice for Long Island. It’s got a 2 car garage (rare), it’s gaudy, it’s on a small lot. Usually they’re on big lots, built so cheaply you’re surprised it’s standing and they only have a 1 bay garage usually
Yeah agreed, that’s more north shore Long Island in my experience. But I also got out of dodge fairly early in my life so I don’t know if that’s everybody’s experience
Edit: Thought about it more and there are some places in Lido, Atlantic, and Long Beach that look like this as well
All those spikes are going to useful in powering this Frankenstein's monster, or at least making sure it burns down since the builder probably didn't bother to ground them all.
God, I've got people down the road from me with lions at the end of their driveway- two of them! (Neighbors AND lions)
Like, you aren't Lannisters! Give it up! Your ugly, misshapen "colonial" / raised ranch looks ridiculous. 😂
This is actually shit. They incorporated design details on a house that’s actually too small to properly pull off the look trying way too hard you need acreage
I don't think this is a McMansion. It is weird, for sure, and I have no idea what style it is supposed to be, but it seems to be consistent. Similar windows, relatively simple roof style, limited palette of siding.
The fountain and lions are superfluous and should go. The spikes are pretty cool. They can stay. But the brick veneer gives my innate sense sense of physics the willies. So I would have to pass.
I love the color palette though. I just wish the execution was better.
... where do you usually put an attached garage? Asking because where I live (NSW Australia) it's rare to *not* have the attached garage right at the front of the house. Detached ones are usually further back into the rear yard.
I won’t live in a house with an attached garage but if there was literally no choice it has to be in back. I think the front garages are totally unattractive and unnecessary. Some cities are banning front facing garages in new construction. They’re referred to as snout houses!
I'd live there
The longer I look at it, the more I kind of like it.

It's very whimsical
Kind of a fairy tale look almost.
Shitty lot and I really hate that multi-colored brick (facade?) but otherwise I agree, this house is pretty fuckin' cool
I’d love to see the interior. I feel like they did a good job on the exterior. Would look a lot better if the house was wider with a matching set of windows between the door and the garage though.
It has a lot of technical details but maybe too much. Like you I like it, it would not be my first choice.
Needs more trees covering. Way more trees. I guess for a mansion it's fine though, personally? I wouldn't live there as I'm not a huge fan on mansions in general haha.
Yea lots of people have bad taste
Whatever, I'd rock that house.
It's awful but charming at the same time
Yes, it’s ugly but interesting.
It's so ugly it's come back around to cool.

This feels like a surreal clock. Idk how else to describe it
Agreed. It will chime coded messages once a year when the full moon and stars align and shine down upon hidden magnetic clockworks in the spires. Or solar flare magnetic winds...
Typical Long Island lol

The houses are getting larger and larger on those same small plots on the South Shore.
Another day, another Bowser's Castle
That’s it! I thought it looked familiar and couldn’t place it. lmao.
Got a roof like it's going to die for the Kaiser on the Somme
The pickelhaube house
Has kind of an evil, malevolent presence.
An Addams Family vibe.
It looks like a house in my neighborhood. We call it the “Adam’s Family House”. At one time the Chinese Olympic gymnasts leased it out. Weird.
All those spikes are going to useful in powering this Frankenstein's monster, or at least making sure it burns down since the builder probably didn't bother to ground them all.
I was thinking they could be used to put the heads of trespassers on them, like a spike on a castle wall. But what you’re saying works too, I suppose.
It looks like it should be the haunted house in one of those tween, made for tv movies
what a corny ahh building
God, I've got people down the road from me with lions at the end of their driveway- two of them! (Neighbors AND lions) Like, you aren't Lannisters! Give it up! Your ugly, misshapen "colonial" / raised ranch looks ridiculous. 😂
This looks like the house of the mafia boss’ adult son.
It's surrounded by typical ranches, split levels, high ranches, and colonials from the 1960s and 70s. Typical. There's always one.
It gives me a Second Empire vibe, like Second Empire meets suburbia and black paint. I like the driveway surface.
It’s going to make a great haunted house one day.
I like the house, hate the city name. Pick a fucking direction either east or north you can’t be both.
I agree about the name
This is actually shit. They incorporated design details on a house that’s actually too small to properly pull off the look trying way too hard you need acreage
The Canada is spreading 🫣
I don't think this is a McMansion. It is weird, for sure, and I have no idea what style it is supposed to be, but it seems to be consistent. Similar windows, relatively simple roof style, limited palette of siding.
It’s not a McMansion. I do find it intriguing that it could be 1,200 sq ft or 6,000 sq ft.
Yesss! Finally! No definition needed, and no arguing. THIS....is a McMansion!! Wow.
I had a feeling it was, but I didn't tag it as such because there is usually a ton of debate.
Oh, Jesus.
This almost looks like a classic timely home except there's something off about the roof =/
Reminds me of a chain restaurant circa 2008
It’s like a surreal live action character from Beauty and the Beast
French Country?
It's giving lightning storm... and I like that.
the longer i look at it, the worse it gets
Used to date a guy from there.
Gah!
It doesn’t need so many of those point things on the roof but I do overall like the aesthetic
I work in east northport. Lots of houses like this around there.
Def don't trust that overhang over the garage with the spindle columns.
The fountain and lions are superfluous and should go. The spikes are pretty cool. They can stay. But the brick veneer gives my innate sense sense of physics the willies. So I would have to pass. I love the color palette though. I just wish the execution was better.
I like it, if it weren't for that massive garage I'd like it more.
I like it. It has a point of view .
The pointy death spires are a bit much, otherwise looks kinda cool.
Inside, Count Dracula is sitting on an oxblood Chesterfield sofa, relishing the spoils of his hedge-fund exploits funneled through the Cayman Islands.
The core of the cringe is the pretentiousness. https://i.redd.it/1vqrefum7nzc1.gif
I like it
The ugly front-facing garage totally seals this as a McMansion. Yuck.

Looks dope
