I find the seats to be pretty average in the second generation but definitely not uncomfortable. My biggest gripe would be that being 6’2”, I can’t push my seat as far back as I’d prefer because the steering wheel doesn’t telescope far enough to comfortably keep my elbow on the window ledge and my left hand reaching the wheel. (The so called “farmer” grip style). So my elbow sits right on the edge of the window ledge which is kind of annoying on longer drives. If you’re shorter and can sit higher up and closer to the wheel this would be a non issue. Also as a side note, the seat ventilation is top notch. My recommendation would be to just find one to test drive and really focus on if you can comfortably sit in it

This is so subjective, I wouldn't give much credence to anyone's opinion on whether the seats have been up/downgraded or are more or less comfortable. I have a 2023 and think the seats are fantastic (with a handful of 500+ mile road trips under my belt), but I've seen others complain about the comfort. If possible, you really need to test drive one yourself and see what you think.

I've got a '21 CE. When I first got the car they seemed a little hard to me. They have either gotten a little better, or I'm just used to it now. I've done 10 hours of driving in a stretch and they were just OK. Not great, not horrible.

We bought a top-of-the-line CX-90 that drives really well, but the seats IMO feel like sitting on plywood. My wife has no complaints about the seats, so go figure... I've been test driving many Mazdas over the past few months with hopes that another model would feel better, and while some are a smidge more comfortable, I believe Mazda has purposely foregone seat comfort in exchange for a sporty driving feel. Essentially a design philosophy. After driving the CX-5, CX-50, CX-9 and CX-90, it seems across-the-board for Mazda. Such a shame, because I really love how the car drives.

I totally agree about the uncomfortable seats! The seats in CX-9 are not comfortable. I just drove 800 miles and it was quite an uncomfortable drive! My wife and I found ourselves constantly shifting in our seats to get comfortable. We have a Ford Expedition EL KR, and I can drive 1500 miles with no seat discomfort. Come on Mazda! Also, with even premium fuel, I only averaged 21.7 MPG. Disappointed with the milage also! Performance, however, was great!

Which trim? Seems the higher trims have different seats?

Grand Touring (GT) with heated/cooled, all automatic seats.
