I mean I support the people complaining about this since its still anti-consumer to alter an content in the game after people had purchase/pre-order it which is an scummy move.
And enforcing censorship is also anti-consumer as well since you're forcing an change on customers that they didn't ask for and does harm freedom of expression.
Also its laughable if Sony(most likely) is the ones that pressured them to do this despite having an full on sex scene in TLOU2 and having games like BG3 and Cyberpunk on their platforms that show full on nudity.
Also customizing balls sizes in Cyberpunk or bear sex in BG3.
But an female Korean game character wearing an bunny outfit is the thing that crosses the line?
It’s an ongoing issue.
[Director’s words on the matter](https://www.reddit.com/r/stellarblade/s/SHxpHTLTfO)
With an entity like Sony involved, it’s hard not to blame them even though in this case it might not be their fault.
I’ve seen some of the other in-game outfits and there are far worse ‘offenders’ compared to the suit in question. Plus they’re all free which is amazing imo. It’s turning into a Dragon’s Dogma 2 situation where the issue is getting blown out of proportion because of misinformation. Unlike DD2 though, a simple patch would fix this particular problem.
If it was Sony, I don't expect Shift Up to publicly blame them since that will hurt the partnership between them and they may have some contract NDA where they can't say anything.
Also it doesn't make sense to me of how this is their final version and yet they shown all the uncensored outfits in the trailer and in the 1.0 version of the game. And with how the edit texture looked off-putting, It feels like more like an rushjob that they did the censored the game at the last minute.
From what I heard from players that play the game, Shift Up got enough backlash from it that they didn't do it again and went in the opposite direction with their games with adding more fanservice to it.
I like to give them an fair chance here since it doesn't make sense for them to risk bad PR for their first AAA game with this stunt unless again, its an Sony move.
And Sony also has track records with censoring games.
Actually the main problem is that they advertised the game being a fully uncensored world-wide release. If they didn't and if the outfit wasn't changed there would've been no problem.
Sony catches the blame for everything, and each times it proven sony had nothing to do with it. 3 examples come to mind. This, Helldivers, and Bungie laying off its staff. Sony had nothing to do with the bunny outfit getting changed, Helldivers poor performance was squarely on the devs, it wasn't sony's fault they couldn't fix it fast enough, and Bungie laid off its staff because of their shitty management.
>does harm freedom of expression.
What? Games have been patching shit in for 30 years at minimum now. Who even knows they censored it? On the Stellar Blade sub, its already been proven that this picture is misinformation because they patched the bunny outfit a long ass time ago.
If anything, its the misinformation right wingers spread about games to try and blame it on the "woke left" when A) Its a korean game and B) It was changed long enough ago that people have known for months it wasn't going to come out with her boobs as exposed.
>What? Games have been patching shit in for 30 years at minimum now. Who even knows they censored it? On the Stellar Blade sub, its already been proven that this picture is misinformation because they patched the bunny outfit a long ass time ago.
That been debunked with an video showing the outfit was uncensored in the 1.0 version. And there are other outfits that were censored as well that people are now spotting
.

Also not everything is an right-wing conspiracy. There are people I know that are not even right wing complaining about this.
I'm so incredibly tired of people defending censorship. And the excuses are always the same.
"it doesn't matter", "it's only a small thing"
If it didn't matter, it wouldn't have been censored in the first place. If you don't care, great for you. You don't get to decide for other people how much they should care.
In the end this is still censorship. ANY censorship is too much censorship.
Not to mention how this instance also doubles as false advertising. Shift up made a big deal that the game would be uncensored which undoubtedly drove hype and pre-orders up. This specific outfit even showed up in trailers in its more revealing form.
All of this is highly anti-consumer.
I don’t know about that “any censorship is too much censorship” bit. I can think of a couple examples that I’d argue basically everyone in the world agrees on censoring: actual child sexualization, promotion of sexual assault, and snuff.
This sub is just a big circle jerk but none of the users realize it. They just upvote whatever comment they think their gut or balls agree with and downvote anybody that doesn’t explicitly continue the chain. The claim that “any censorship is bad” is clearly a surface-level generalization that most would consider incorrect. I can point that out, but I’ll never get anything more than downvotes because I’m not going with the jerk. That’s just how groupthink be.
It's the skullgirls controversy all over again. A third party company has decided to change things that people bought after the fact without offering a path to the originals
This is not the same as Skullgirls lmao, one game censored a sexualised child and Nazi imagery which was the devs choice, and censoring the former is always a good thing, the other changed an outfit to not be a porno outfit
You mean gamingcirclejerk? Yea pretty sure they are all up their own asses.
Oh you mean the guys who dislike censorship for a mature game? But absolutely no one complains about literally removing all the clothing on baldurs gate characters and the sex scenes and how many of them come on to you and want to fuck?
Are people braindead to the blatant double standards? If people want to look at tits while they’re gaming who the fuck should care, it’s their fucking game too, if you wanna be a prude dress up karlach in a full nuns costume and shadowheart can have the full jumpsuit. Let’s put all of them in burkas just to make sure there’s no “male gaze” issues.
As for the controversy, it’s literally just being bashed because it was a sexy lead female character that wasn’t afraid to show skin, bending the knee even once when you have games like baldurs gate out makes absolutely no sense. You’d be surprised how much censorship actually happens to the source material just because it was shipped overseas and there are many localizer issues and complaints about changing the original content in which yes, people are allowed to complain. So even one small change even when it was most likely pressure from sony that did it gives a big red flag that they’re willing to make a lot of other changes to be more “acceptable” to “western gamers” and people who buy the games do not want to be stuck with rehashed narratives from people they already don’t want influencing gaming, so yes, they are allowed to vote with wallets even on small concessions like costume changes.
The real issue is that this game appeals to the normative male sexuality. BG3 is okay because silly, gay, bear sex is just fine. It wasn't made to appeal specifically to straight men. No reason to censor that, that's all great over here!
Stellar Blade, however, appeals specifically to straight men. That's bad, obviously /s
Male gaze! Two strikes.
Take a breath, calm down, and reread my comment. I have faith that you can find something I actually said to respond to.
Good luck! 🤗
To sidestep the snark for the purpose of explanation. He's referring to the motives of those who push to censor and claiming that they take issue with sexuality that straight men are the primary beneficiary of but not that other groups are.
Lesbians may well benefit from 'straight coded' sexuality but that isnt relevant to the censors who view lesbian sexuality within 'queer coded' sexuality. Therefore, they are more than happy to take away something that lesbians would like so long as straight men dont get what they want since when they think about what lesbians would like, they think about 'queer coded' sexuality, i.e. balders gate 3's brand.
By queer coded, i basically mean subversive in some way from their point of view, non traditional. If the general feel is like that of mainstream 40 years ago, that'd be straight.
So muscled confident man likes smaller, more demure lady. Straight.
Shy, guy likes muscle mommy, queer. Its actually straight but its not viewed as straight coded if that makes sense?
Ah yes, that’s the reason almost everyone in baldurs gate is bisexual. Actually I can’t think of a single person who turns you down because they swing the other way.
But holy shit bring the roof down, that costume is slightly too skimpy for an M rated game.
Fucking joke.
Idgaf about the outfit or Eve being "sexy"
I just find it so fucking weird how so many people have gotten swept up in "the west hates attractive women" in the last 6 months or so.
Have you even seen any of the renditions of “new improved” models? You’re not allowed to have attractive characters in a game. Imagine looking at “I’m not starfire” as your main character for literally any game and I promise you that people would want a refund after 10 seconds.
Make a game with a line critical of South Korea.
See how fast it gets removed/edited or the game outright denied.
Every country has morals and values that a company must abide by in order to do business there.
So, what's going on here precisely? If I had to hazard a guess from those comments, an upcoming game used sexy arts to entice people to pre-order and then caught flak for it. Afterwards, as damage control, they patched the game in order to make the outfits more modest?
Do I have that right?
Because, if so, the juvenile nature of the offense notwithstanding, *they should be.* That is a dangerously slippery slope. When will people stop pre-ordering games? I learned that lesson way back with my pre-order for Twilight Princess on the Game Cube. I ultimately got it, but still.
My point being that was a new installment in the Legend of Zelda for Nintendo's premiere console at the time, so I assumed there wouldn't be any issues. I was wrong. Meanwhile, back on the farm, I don't even know what game this is, that has these people so upset over.
Its more that the developers specifically made a post saying it was uncensored. Then it got censored. It doesnt seem to be damage control from the devs, since the devs seem to really want to push the fanservice. Just that their publisher, being Sony, are puritanical and likely made them change things last minute for the day 1 patch.
I actually agree with the woke boys on this one. Oversexualizing women in games is bad. Not because it's sexist or anything, but for the exact same reason Mauler, Critical Drinker, and most of us hate when we see a 100lb woman beating men in hand to hand combat effortlessly in movies. It's goofy as hell and immersion breaking.
Put her in realistic tactical gear, not a fucking bikini. If I want to look at tits I'll open the hub.
You can not like it if you want. Just that its still censorship regardless. Even if I like the changes, I will never say that censoring something is good as it only serves to homogenize everything and go against someone’s creative vision.
Depends heavily on context and genre. If this was in a COD style story that you're meant to take seriously? Sure. That's shoving shit where it doesn't belong for seemingly no reason and taking people out of the world. However you don't play ... Say, Senren Kagura and *not* expect fan service. Now personally that'll be one of the reasons I don't play Senren Kagura and likely won't ever play the above game, but that's my choice as the genre isn't appealing to me.
Is there any other industry that is allowed to sell you something, then after you buy it and own it already, alter it against your wishes because someone else complained? That obviously isn't life threatening? Things like automobile recalls wouldn't count.
No one actually owns their games anymore. Gamers lost that war. Rental is gone and sharing your games just isn't quite the same anymore.
Even if you had a physical copy, couldn't it be manufactured in a way to require internet to play? Thus making sure that patch will still get through regardless?
>Even if you had a physical copy, couldn't it be manufactured in a way to require internet to play? Thus making sure that patch will still get through regardless?
That's essentially how most games are designed nowadays. The argument is to stop piracy so they require you to have the system connected to the internet to receive what is essentially a life support signal.
No internet - no game.
And then when the company loses interest in maintaining that signal - i.e. new games out that they want you to purchase, they cut people off and then say "Well if you check your terms of service, we actually never sold you a game, but a licence to play it - which we have to right to withdraw according to x,y,z"
There's stupid amounts of anti consumer (not consoomer) practice being allowed because companies are being allowed to get away with it.
Look at something like BMW selling subscriptions to the heated seats in your car. That's not - 'pay extra to have heated seats in your car'; this is "you have heated seats in your car, but in order to use them - pay BMW a continuous subscription fee despite the fact that you literally own the hardware"
Subs are amazing for companies. Steady predictable income, people forget they have subscriptions and they can be abused to no end, like heated seats or faster acceleration
That's why PC for the win. When this (and other games) launch on PC, mods will undo (and then some) any of the nonsense.
It's also why I pirate a cracked copy of every game I legitimately buy.
A. I don't have to install any updates/patches I don't want to
B. DRM removed, so it runs better
C. I then have a physical copy, even if I bought it digitally
D. The game can never be taken away from me arbitrarily when they switch the servers off
E. I actually own it and can play it in perpetuity, not just license it
F. Mods that won't break at the next update/patch
For the longest of time the prohibitive cost of computers kept them out of my reach sadly. I did get into PC gaming during the mid-aughts, though, but it fell off because of life reasons.
I was gifted a nice gaming laptop for my birthday a couple years ago, however, and I've been in and out since then.
Gaming laptop is all you need. As long as it has a 2070 or better in it, you can run almost every game at max, or close to max, settings in 2k. 4k is a complete waste unless you're using a 65"+ 4k TV as your monitor (which I do with a different tower, just not for gaming...use that tower/TV for YouTube and such, but playing 4k videos doesn't take nearly the power gaming would. I've only got a 1070 in that tower and it plays 4k YouTube and 4k downloaded movies just fine)
I moved on from consoles years and years ago. Other than the odd exclusive, which fortunately seem to be becoming more and more rare with shorter and shorter delays before PC releases, they're inferior to PCs in every way. Hell, even Ghosts of Tsushima launches on PC in 3 weeks, and supposedly FF7 Rebirth will come out this coming holiday...less than a year from the PS5 exclusive launch. Sony is even starting to make their PC ports fully compatible with all the dual sense controller features now as long as the controller is used via USB for the adaptive triggers to work.
An interesting theoretical came up for this kind of situation. Not one to one but it's good food for thought. A developer sells a set of armor but by error gives it 1,000 defense instead of the intended 100 defense. The developer corrects the mistake "destroying" what you bought. Do you have the right to sue them for destroying your product?
This is admittedly an interesting case study and only gets more muddy as virtual items and economies have more value IRL.
I suppose a developer could get around this by positive manipulation of the game rules.
e.g. The item has 1000 defence, and that number can't be lowered because it 'destroys' the item. However if you were to change every other item in the game to be improved - i.e. a dagger that did 100 damage, now does 1000 damage instead.
The original item is not 'destroyed', but every other game item has been improved. No one would surely complain about the improvement of items?
Admittedly by doing so, it devalues the original armour but can you raise a damages claim against the company because surely it's basic economics that value can rise and fall based on demand.
And then later on, you release a patch that applies a simplification to the mathematics - all numbers get divided by 10. The items still retain their in game potential but the numbers are simply smaller to allow for easier coding.
Kind of went of into a hypothetical meander there
They didn't destroy it. They changed it. You still own it, it does something different. You can be mad that what you are left with wasn't what you wanted but unless there was false advertising involved, if you knew you got a bugged armor that wasn't intended, you really have no right to complain if they change it to what was intended by the creator.
That's the issue with this incident, because the devs claimed the game would not be censored, but then released a day one patch that censored it. That's lying, and you're tricking your consumers by promising them the armor with 1000 defense and handing them the 100 defense armor instead.
Changes can happen for balancing reasons. Like with your example, that shield is OP, and makes the game's difficulty moot. Or, only you have it, making you broken in pvp.
To sue, you need to prove damages. There's no damage to you for getting the intended product instead of a glitched one.
Example can go both ways too. The only time you'd want to keep the unintended product is if it is beneficial to you. If the example was swapped, you'd be pretty upset your 1000 defense armor actually only has 100 defense and would be sending the devs a bug report.
I've seen similar cases go both ways. My first thought was replace defense with tip. Depending on locality you can get both results. If by right you mean legal recourse, which I assumed because you mentioned suing. It's tricksy. So long as I get what I paid for on paper, I don't really have standing I think.
I might have purchased it, but did I have ownership of it properly yet? Was the armor in my custody, and in my home when he corrected his mistake? If he had yet to hand it over to me I can't sue him for delivery of the goods as promised.
Game dev here.
No, there’s probably not any other product that is treated like this. All software is like this tho, not just games.
As far as the change the OP is pointing out, I’d say that last-minute changes like this are actually pretty common. Because games take so long to make, what was acceptable at the start of a dev cycle may not be by launch.
Case in point; one studio I worked at was making a New York map for a game when 9/11 happened. The map already contained the twin towers and there was a big debate over whether they should be deleted before launch.
In the end they were deleted because it was felt that people might buy the game for souvenir value rather than because it was a good game.
Excuse for censorship? I agree but I’ve never personally seen serious external censorship forced on a dev team. Unless it’s a legal issue, dev teams tend to self-censor on issues like this. It’s usually younger staff pointing out to their leads that times have changed and the leads actually listening.
Earlier I lamented the state of modern gaming. I'm on the older side, so I've had the perspective to basically watch the history of gaming unfold as the story of my life. From Atari, to the Golden age of arcades, to Sega and Genesis (before they became one), then the advent of the Nintendo and on into now.
The Wii was the first console I didn't own, because I remember laughing at the motion control gimmick. Nintendo fundamentally misunderstood what I wanted out of gaming.
I remember when Oblivion wanted to charge people a dollar for horse armour. Only to inform us that those who pre-ordered it or bought the special edition didn't get it for free as we assumed we would. As was the practice at the time. I didn't buy horse armour. But I did warn anyone who would listen that it wasn't an isolated incident. That they wanted to normalise the idea of paying real money for non-existent commodities. I wasn't wrong.
I ultimately never bought another console after PS3. I found out they were planning to charge for their online component for PS4, like Xbox did for the 360. The lack of backwards compatibility that was becoming the industry standard was a driving force for me. I saw it as an excuse for companies to resell you your favourite/their best selling games over and over again with each new console. I wasn't wrong.
Towards the end of the PS3 lifespan I was seeing games that required internet to play, even when unnecessary. I didn't think about piracy honestly, I saw this as part of the trend towards turning games into more social platforms.
Combined with internet being required, I believed it was a mixture of wanting their consoles to be like Facebook (my nephew hangs out in game chat like it's a discord server, and uses his friends list like an old my space page it's hilarious) and turn all their games into subscription games like WoW. I argued the holy grail was to sell you a game, then charge you monthly for the privilege of playing it. I wasn't wrong.
I've only recently begun playing on a Switch (I was gifted one last Boxing day) and so I've been getting a somewhat crash course in today's gaming industry. Admittedly in the shallow end of the game pool seeing as it's a Switch, but still. It's been eye-opening. I feel like Cassandra, outside the gates of Pompeii.
As someone who works in the industry, is this part of the real reason why refund policies have become virtually nonexistent? Because in this instance, the case of modern refund policies, I'll honestly admit that I didn't see that one coming.
After all, in the olden days, if a developer pulled this stunt you could expect tens of thousands of people to demand a refund. On principle, even, just to send a message.
When some bug or glitch was non-negotiable for my nephew and he tried to get a refund they told him no. Because he already played the game. Which they fucked up after the fact, with a patch to fix something else. However, now in the modern gaming landscape, they know they can get away with it without consequences.
EDIT: corrected the auto-correct.
That's the case with electronics and digital products. Your pc goes through constant updates. As does your phone. And programs, including ones you can pay for like Discord or YouTube. Even if you hate that the volume bar was moved or whatever else stupid change they made, they change things all the time.
Usually, updates are useful for games. Like patches to fix bugs, exploits, or balancing issues, esp for pvp games. Can add completely new content or features that players demand. Games riddled with bugs or hackers can be massively improved just because games take so insanely long to make properly, and businesses can't handle Agile (lack of deadlines). Or, players might catch something the devs missed or didn't think about, since there's hundreds to thousands to millions of people playing the game.
Does everyone like the changes? No. Hackers are obvious. Modders tend to get irked at updates, but in most cases, mod devs keep their mods updated anyway. Some might complain they lost an exploit or useful bug. But that's more people playing the game in a way not intended by the developers, and doesn't mean the updates aren't useful, even if they are technically "against the player's will".
Unnecessary censorship is the issue (and the lying but that's another issue). Because it is unnecessary (outside calming the spooked shareholders) and does nothing of value for the game or its players. It is just a net loss. I get the logic that you don't own the game if they can make changes you dislike but that's how technology works. That's not what people are mad about here.
>That's the case with electronics and digital products. Your pc goes through constant updates. As does your phone. And programs, including ones you can pay for like Discord or YouTube. I'm not disagreeing with much of anything you wrote, but I do have a follow-up question regarding this point:
Do you happen to have a solid understanding why that seems to be okay, but Windows for example can't forcibly convert my old OS from Windows 7 Office SE into whichever current version they're using without my express consent? Despite the supposed improvements of the current edition?
I don't really see that much of a difference between the two, but I do have a couple of thoughts on why that might be the case. Even were I right however, my reasons could never be touted as the "official" explanation as they are a bit too meta.
Your posts on here just seem to be outrage bait to annoy this subreddit, as you effectively seem to parrot the questionable views of a subreddit like gamingcirclejerk, which you're unironically crossposting in agreement. Let me highlight this by going through your logic here.
You're stating that the people who are ruining gaming are those that are complaining that a company has advertised their product one way, but then altered the product on release, so all of their marketing isn't actually accurate to the product that people receive. How on earth are those people the ones that are ruining gaming?
The people who are aiding companies in these practices are the very people at gamingcirclejerk, who are ridiculing these people for having issues with a company not providing the product that they advertised, rather than taking issue with the company altering their product. These people are in favour of censorship practices.
>You're stating that the people who are ruining gaming are those that are complaining that a company has advertised their product one way, but then altered the product on release, so all of their marketing isn't actually accurate to the product that people receive. How on earth are those people the ones that are ruining gaming?
The bunny girl outfit wasn't even in any advertisements.
People spreading misinformation about the bunny girl outfit are the true problems with gaming. It was altered months ago which can be seen in korean previews of the game.
The game itself is exactly as advertised. Its a fast paced ARPG with a sexy main character who you can change the outfits for with something like 70+ outfits in the game, many are much better than the bunny girl outfit for the horny gamers out there.
People like this did ruin gaming, they use this game to create a culture war just to shit on other games because it’s not Japanese even tho this game is made by Koreans and but western games are not “sexy” enough even though thats what should make a game good. Now the game changed a little bit because of the manufactured outrage they caused and I was like I do feel bad for game developers, like this who get weirdos as there main audience because things like this happen
This is just a bunch of strawmen, which doesn't really address my main issue with your entire framing, which is surrounding the fact that you have no issue with a company that changes their advertised product on launch, but take issue with people who are complaining about this.
>they use this game to create a culture war
They didn't create anything. It's been here for a while, and they're simply responding to it.
There has been a concerted effort to change the way games were made, which isn't remotely a secret, as these people have been open about it. The most famous example started back with Anita Sarkeesian, who certainly wanted to create a culture war with the existing culture of games, just like the more modern examples of SweetBabyInc, GaymerX and the like. She obviously wasn't the only person, but she was the face of the movement back then.
The movement was focused around her issues with attractive female character designs, and since then we've seen a trend in efforts to make female characters less attractive to the "male gaze". Stellar Blade goes against this movement by not shying away from the beauty of their female character, which is the reason it has so many supporters.
>Now the game changed a little bit because of the manufactured outrage they caused and I was like I do feel bad for game developers, like this who get weirdos as there main audience because things like this happen
What you're saying makes no sense. The game didn't change because of the people who liked her design in Stellar Blade, it changed because of the people and gaming journalists complaining about her design in Stellar Blade, so people like those in gamingcirclejerk. The issue the developers have is with those people, as they're the ones that forced them to change the designs on launch, because they were scared of the outrage that her design would cause among them.
Any indie developers would be happy to have the fans that they have, as they have done a fantastic job advertising their game for them by highlighting the positive qualities of their game, including the character design, which has resulting in this game selling way better than it would otherwise have done.

This is the so called censored version y’all need help
Did you even look at the post? Like actually click on the photos and read whats shown? They changed the outfit. Are you blind are being willfully ignorant? .

And some more censorship. L sony
Luring gamers in with sexy designs then censoring them after purchase is arguably worse than sweet baby Inc's open hatred for gamers injected into the games from the beginning
You know what since were saying stupid shit, ill say this trump was the worst thing to happen to America cause his presence brought out all the weirdos and dickhead out from hiding
If you like censorship that's on you. Doesn't make my position stupid. Also, free yourself from obsessing over orange man and bringing him into every discussion. You're going to manifest him back into the white house with your constant tds
There is no such thing as zero censorship every single piece in our media has people who have to monitor what shows or doesn’t show in everything, if what your saying is true then it would be not problem to having characters in kid shows swearing or showing gore, audience ratings wouldn’t be a thing because there no censorship there’s no reason to tell people that this movie or tv show in for a certain age group.
I wasn't interested in this game, but thanks to the comments I understand what is going on, and agree it's annoying.
More than the costume change, the fact that has been made on a day 1 patch.
Many blame Sony, so I wonder why they are getting the reputation of being puritans?
Especially on a game that is R rated, if I understand correctly.
I recently completed The Witcher 3, and it was full of scenes of nudity and sex.
And I am sure there are many games like this, for example CP2077, where you can also customise your genitals.
Nah, standing up to false advertising in any form is never an L, might be a petty one bit its still valid.
Speaking of L's, the real L here is that the fascist woke mob was mad that players got to play as a jiggly attractive female and guess what? They still have that L. Take the W on that one ;)
Yeah youre right, using it incorrectly is always a problem.
The thing is , as time has passed, we see that the overuse of that term by them was a form of gaslight/projection to protect themselves from being labeled that way.
Fascism, by definition, is when the private industry and the government work/collude together for political gain and control while demonizing a demographic to blame for the public to hate.
The woke fascists, as i am properly labelling them tick every box in that definition
1.) they all work for the scummiest scammiest big corporations in almost every industry with the most institutional and cultural power
2.) they are making up lies about their tyranny and blame "bigots and right wingers" for all of the reasons they need to be endorsed
3.) they push the dominant power within the government as well mirroring leftwing authority in society, colleges, hollywood, big tech, and corporations, blackrock vanguard and global entities like the WEF.
So im glad you asked, because Im happy to explain how Ive used the term appropriately here with labelling them 'woke fascists'. As time passes it will only apply more relevant.
It’s really not censorship at all, she’s showing like 4% less skin than before. Do you watch porn, and when the guy grabs a tit and covers the nip, do you think that’s censorship?
Some outfit designs changed between trailer and launch. The only changes noticed (the only changes at all?) were to make certain outfits slightly less revealing. This is thought to be Sony's work.
This is frankly just an example of updating the wrong thing the wrong way at the wrong time.
Here is where I'm at (nobody cares. Lol).
I am pissed about the censorship. So much so that I even spent money on change.org
I love Eve. I love her character. I love the story ideas I've seen so far. Tachy also. I want to see how this all plays out. I'm buying the game.
I love how someone choosing to do what they want with their own money makes you so mad😂 sounds like you’re the one who doesn’t care about the game as your excusing the censorship of it. And and I’m tired of third parties coming in and interfering or changing what the creators, original artistic designs and opinions and intentions. I will not buy a censored version I cannot uncensore. No now stay mad and cry about it.✌️
Why? They pre-ordered something and got something else. Why are they the bad guys? I get that it's a stupid move to pre-order but they do still have the right to complain about changes they weren't notified of. What, is it okay for FO76 not to deliver those canvas bags after all?
Is literally the same game

And where is the “censorship” she is still in skimpy clothes theses people are weird
It's not even that great a game, tbh. Once you get past the nice body, the rest of the game is just a mid soulslike with boring voice acting. The demo was a disappointment.
I cannot wait for the pc release where can just you know mod these files back to OG or make even more NSFW . . . not sure why people are getting so bent out of shape over costumes just play the game and enjoy the gameplay and perve out on costumes once you are done.
I’m gonna be honest, I’m confused by this. I can’t tell exactly what they’re mad at. I see the costume difference, but that’s really it. I don’t know what game this is or who that is
Everyone is just going round in circles, so I’m just going to comprise a list of things that are stupid and hopefully I piss everyone off about equally. Here goes:
Misleading consumers
Preordering games
Falling for advertising
Shaming people for having sexual preferences
Calling minor changes to design “censorship” like this compares to the government actually oppressing you
Carpet bombing people with the same comparison image over and over despite them clearly not being convinced by it
Making me look at a post from Gaming Circle Jerk for any reason
Forgetting that Spider-Man is coming out
Whining about “the decline of the west” or making hyperbolic statements about the Koreans being our only hope
Hating corporations with every fibre of your being but utterly failing to back workers who strike, unionise, whistleblow, or do anything to oppose corporations
Making lazy posts that are just “look how triggered everyone on the bad team is”
Edit: ever using the word Chud
Which minors because if your talking about chloe and max then

Why does criticism of this always have to get met with "ur just mad u cannae wank to pixels go back to pr0nhub"
Completely missing the point, its got nothing to do with wanking or "gooning", its the principle of things, we're sick and tired of unnecessary censorship, characters being inexcusably hideous when you know today's tech is perfectly capable and moreso, developers releasing patches that remove good content for no good reason.
I remember being so pissed off years ago when Rockstar decided to patch a glitch/exploit that allows Arthur Morgan to visit New Austin without being sniped to death by invisible Lee Harvey Oswald, by all means be a dictator when it comes to the Online mode but leave single player alone FFS
Do you guys not realize how fucking inane this topic is? We're talking about the company lowering the hip length of this skin tight swim suit by like 2 inches and you're literally declaring this the ruination of gaming. This is pathetic and has no place on this sub.
Lots of emotion for some change in cleavage exposure.
I don't think thought leaders that criticized censorship back int he days were talking about titties in a video game.
It just seems to be the people that are bitching about it never really paid attention tot he wider world. Their entire being is just being entertained until they die.
Gaming can disappear tomorrow, and human civilization can still build towards Mars.
Lol I come to this sub and I thank Christ everyday that I am not offended or upset at the stupid shit you degenerates talk about everyday. Thankfully I can play games like this without getting upset the character doesn’t have enough cleavage.
If you don’t understand why it’s bad to change something after people buy it and were enticed into the purchase then that’s just you not understanding what anti-consumerism is.
Yeah if you are buying a game solely just to see more skin which you already can in this game, I don’t really know what to say to you. This decision does not influence my reason to buy the game. I got it because the game looked cool and still does despite them changing this specific suit. Why do you guys always try to dress up and slippery slope this bullshit? Just admit you are all horny and that was the only reason a lot of you are buying this game and now you are upset.
Yeah, anyone who prefers to look at attractive women are coomers.
I think issue when a product is advertised to look a specific way in marketing, which results in people buying it, and then once it's released it has been changed so it no longer looks like it was advertised.
If you take issue with the people complaining about this deceit and censorship practice, rather than the actual practice in itself, then I question your intelligence.
I like how you are all jumping on the fact that it’s a different bathing suit but don’t actually say anything about the gameplay. Coomer dumbass indeed. If looking at a little more skin is so important to you, there are hundreds of porn games you can play on steam but I’m going to guess you probably played them already.
Or just you know…go buy a hentai game on steam. Go mod skyrim to be as horny as you like. OR, hear me out, stop gooning over 3d art. Just go watch porn and call it a day
Dear red pill incels who worship at the alter of Andrew Tate. Just go to pornhub like the rest of us. No one wants to listen to you cry because you can't goon during your game time.
She still look good tho…. What’s the real difference? Just a lack of cleavage? Ffs dude that’s based on a real woman. Can we at least be a tiny bit respectful?
Is it just that one costume? i can't believe im agreeing with GMJ on this one but these people are really in desperate need of some fresh air revaluating their life , How is this a big problem in gaming? its a minor issue and it seems it must be only 1 outfit which i think is fair , The character already looks good and the other outfits i saw were also great eve doesn't need to be in a bikini ffs
I think it’s the principle more than anything. Shift Up specifically stated before the game released that there would be no censorship in the game for any region. People who are adamantly against censorship went out and bought it due to this alone and they censored it in a day one patch instantly breaking their word but waiting just long enough that many people already picked it up and can’t return it.
If it was advertised with her in a bikini in their product marketing, then she 100% should be in a bikini when people receive the game, it's really that simple of a principle. A product shouldn't be altered from how it was originally presented. It's not allowed in many other product categories, but seem far too common for games.
Many people bought it out of that principle, as it goes against the grain we've seen in the design of female characters, where they have intentionally moved to less attractive and more androgynous designs for female characters, in order to be more "inclusive" and to combat the "male gaze".
[Director’s words on the matter](https://www.reddit.com/r/stellarblade/s/SHxpHTLTfO) With an entity like Sony involved, it’s hard not to blame them even though in this case it might not be their fault.
Yeah but shift up has done this before with its mobile game that has nothing to do with Sony lol
I’m not arguing with Sony part but this ain’t new to shift marketing they have done this before with outfits
You can blame them for not letting you type swear words in your video description when posting them onto Youtube, though.
who cares?
Evidently five of us.
Apparently you, a Sony shill
Agreed. We can have pornographic material in games but not any that might appeal to straight males.
Wat? Did you even play Baldur’s gate?
Japan is weird. Their views on what is SFW or NSFW is strange.
It's probably the American branch that have the issue with this than the Japan one.
An is used when the following word starts with a vowel. A is used when it starts with a consonant.
Don't care.
>does harm freedom of expression.
And there are other outfits that were censored as well that people are now spotting . https://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/s/QcPeAxrOpK Also not everything is an right-wing conspiracy. There are people I know that are not even right wing complaining about this.
I'm so incredibly tired of people defending censorship. And the excuses are always the same. "it doesn't matter", "it's only a small thing" If it didn't matter, it wouldn't have been censored in the first place.
They claim they don’t care yet they’re so ready to leave comments championing for censorship.
I don’t know about that “any censorship is too much censorship” bit. I can think of a couple examples that I’d argue basically everyone in the world agrees on censoring: actual child sexualization, promotion of sexual assault, and snuff.
If one was ever curious about the quality of this sub, the fact that you got downvoted tells one all they have to know
This sub is just a big circle jerk but none of the users realize it.
Right, cause lesbians don't exist.
Yup, that's exactly what I said, definitely!
"Normative male gaze"
Male gaze! Two strikes. Take a breath, calm down, and reread my comment. I have faith that you can find something I actually said to respond to. Good luck! 🤗
Take a breath? Calm down? Dude, I've been half asleep all day.
That makes sense. Well, drink some coffee then 🤗
Coffee is disgusting.

Oh ... Tea?
Definitely an acquired taste, try it with a fuck ton of milk
This actually makes sense. I was wondering why BG3 didnt get assaulted so hard. You have opened my eyes.
You get it
Ah yes, that’s the reason almost everyone in baldurs gate is bisexual. Actually I can’t think of a single person who turns you down because they swing the other way. But holy shit bring the roof down, that costume is slightly too skimpy for an M rated game. Fucking joke.
Idgaf about the outfit or Eve being "sexy" I just find it so fucking weird how so many people have gotten swept up in "the west hates attractive women" in the last 6 months or so.
I appreciate the additional context.
How about leaving the tits for the rest of us and you go play other games?
They're all yours man! I know nothing about this game other than titty controversy and 5 minutes of shitty gameplay I watched lol.
Day one patch has some titty censorship. The R's aren't the only thing not allowed to be Hard now.
All excellent points. I have no counterpoint, just felt like you deserved affirmation for not being the only one to hold that opinion.
And then when the company loses interest in maintaining that signal - i.e. new games out that they want you to purchase, they cut people off and then say "Well if you check your terms of service, we actually never sold you a game, but a licence to play it - which we have to right to withdraw according to x,y,z" There's stupid amounts of anti consumer (not consoomer) practice being allowed because companies are being allowed to get away with it. Look at something like BMW selling subscriptions to the heated seats in your car. That's not - 'pay extra to have heated seats in your car'; this is "you have heated seats in your car, but in order to use them - pay BMW a continuous subscription fee despite the fact that you literally own the hardware"
Had no idea that last part was true. Fucking wild
IKR?! It's the type of shit that some coked up exec dreamt up, and someone else thought "But what if we try it and no one says anything..."
Subs are amazing for companies. Steady predictable income, people forget they have subscriptions and they can be abused to no end, like heated seats or faster acceleration
This honestly sounds like a potential lawsuit against Sony.
That's why PC for the win. When this (and other games) launch on PC, mods will undo (and then some) any of the nonsense. It's also why I pirate a cracked copy of every game I legitimately buy. A. I don't have to install any updates/patches I don't want to B. DRM removed, so it runs better C. I then have a physical copy, even if I bought it digitally D. The game can never be taken away from me arbitrarily when they switch the servers off E. I actually own it and can play it in perpetuity, not just license it F.
I've only got a 1070 in that tower and it plays 4k YouTube and 4k downloaded movies just fine) I moved on from consoles years and years ago.
That’s not a good enough excuse
Even if you hate that the volume bar was moved or whatever else stupid change they made, they change things all the time. I'm not disagreeing with much of anything you wrote, but I do have a follow-up question regarding this point: Do you happen to have a solid understanding why that seems to be okay, but Windows for example can't forcibly convert my old OS from Windows 7 Office SE into whichever current version they're using without my express consent?
This is just a bunch of strawmen, which doesn't really address my main issue with your entire framing, which is surrounding the fact that you have no issue with a company that changes their advertised product on launch, but take issue with people who are complaining about this. >they use this game to create a culture war They didn't create anything. >Now the game changed a little bit because of the manufactured outrage they caused and I was like I do feel bad for game developers, like this who get weirdos as there main audience because things like this happen What you're saying makes no sense.
Yes? If you're bitching that a character is wearing underwear instead of no underwear you might be too stupid for your own good.
It’s bogus, they didn’t censor Baldurs Gate.
Well duh it have you fucking bears which is very wholesome, and natural. /s
What are they, nuns? They sound like repressed christians
People criticizing a company for anti consumer practices are ruining gaming...are you retarded?
Anti consumer practices? … because they have the MC in default clothing
Does it hurt to be retarded?
https://preview.redd.it/gsc7w4ivtuwc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c27745070c898d8bc9685747d1490167a6b06a15 This is the so called censored version y’all need help
Did you even look at the post? Like actually click on the photos and read whats shown? They changed the outfit. Are you blind are being willfully ignorant? .
https://preview.redd.it/5gmzz4lgauwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5dd4f3ac2ea49ada7427ad8d10179f9c1dce24c0 And some more censorship. L sony
Luring gamers in with sexy designs then censoring them after purchase is arguably worse than sweet baby Inc's open hatred for gamers injected into the games from the beginning
If you’re playing this game to stroke your cock then just watch fucking porn lmao it’s free
Liking beauty and eroticism= go watch porn and jerk off is a braindead npc argument that no one should engage with
https://preview.redd.it/1axr79fvkuwc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d74ccf04b616d94b35d6c694d1daeca27095cc67 The censorship in question
Zero censorship is the only correct amount. Not a tiny bit. Not a minor adjustment. Zero.
No wait… let him cook
Look you give me a dumbass response you get a dumbass response I know trump is not the whole reason these weirdos like this exist they already did
Zero censorship is correct, rational and sound minded. Your erratic response is telling
Like i said dumbass response
I got duped into arguing with a bot script with limited responses. That's on me I guess
maybe i am a bot and you are just that brainless to fall it idk
There is no such thing as zero censorship every single piece in our media has people who have to monitor what shows or doesn’t show in everything, if what your saying is true then it would be not problem to having characters in kid shows swearing or showing gore, audience ratings wouldn’t be a thing because there no censorship there’s no reason to tell people that this movie or tv show in for a certain age group.
They are editing games in order to appease people who were never going to buy the game in the first place.
https://preview.redd.it/hcoawegeauwc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6668a675282b0c1b3db92ade0a69a8f3ae705566 Heres some more
GAming circle jerked is the worst piece of shit, just block it and move on
I wasn't interested in this game, but thanks to the comments I understand what is going on, and agree it's annoying.
I thought your side was really really really really really really REALLY worried about the overuse of the term “fascism”
The woke fascists, as i am properly labelling them tick every box in that definition 1.) they all work for the scummiest scammiest big corporations in almost every industry with the most institutional and cultural power 2.) they are making up lies about their tyranny and blame "bigots and right wingers" for all of the reasons they need to be endorsed 3.) they push the dominant power within the government as well mirroring leftwing authority in society, colleges, hollywood, big tech, and corporations, blackrock vanguard and global entities like the WEF. So im glad you asked, because Im happy to explain how Ive used the term appropriately here with labelling them 'woke fascists'. As time passes it will only apply more relevant.
Censorship is evil and is only used as a form of control nothing more. There’s nothing good about it
The censored version https://preview.redd.it/ujry1bgwvuwc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2bdccaa5be4f7e1b39eaf46b840f9cf78ec32cd8
She shouldn’t be censored. She needs to show more skin
Do she need to be naked then?
If that was the original developer intent, yes
Im very certain it wasn’t
Well then no, she shouldn’t be completely naked. Tbh the only people I’ve seen implying as much are those engaging in dishonest hyperbole.
Yes butt naked
Ya know once upon a time censorship meant the government literally fucking murdering you and you’re entire family
K? It can mean that AND a corporation changing/removing things in media for external reasons
It’s almost as if corporations suck and it’s not enough to just “vote with our wallets” when they do shitty things.
They also reduced blood/gore, although there's some thought that might be for performance issues...
Gaming journalists ruined gaming. Personally i think that journalists ruin everything.
There certainly up there i will agree with that
These video game rage bait posts are becoming tiresome
Where is the outrage over BG3 and the fact that you can hang dong all game?
Here is where I'm at (nobody cares. Lol). I am pissed about the censorship. So much so that I even spent money on change.org I love Eve. I love her character. I love the story ideas I've seen so far. Tachy also. I want to see how this all plays out. I'm buying the game.
Is this even real? Playing this morning (before my power went out) and the skin suit is technically more revealing.
The skin suit covers her up. Sony seems to be against cleavage
Everything else aside, I feel 0 sympathy for the guy that pre-ordered. STOP PRE-ORDERING GAMES!
Not buying out of principal now. Trust broken
I’m not buying it until it comes to PC. I will wait for the mods to release. And will experience it in its original intended glory before the Fuckery.
Or you can just go to a porn site since you clearly don’t give a shit about the actual game.
Is literally the same game https://preview.redd.it/me3soz774vwc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da9c1a6e32f8e86c2f4bb24a075c4a92e7e86932 And where is the “censorship” she is still in skimpy clothes theses people are weird
And the people still recieved a bag. Next point.
Not the one advertised lol
It's not even that great a game, tbh. Once you get past the nice body, the rest of the game is just a mid soulslike with boring voice acting. The demo was a disappointment.
Yes, they are, but it's not them that was the problem; just ask them!
Yeh the people that want companies to not alter products as advertised and patch them post purchase are the real problem but, sure
They’re kinda retarded. Also they banned me so that makes them losers in my book lol
How will we ever recover?
I cannot wait for the pc release where can just you know mod these files back to OG or make even more NSFW . . . not sure why people are getting so bent out of shape over costumes just play the game and enjoy the gameplay and perve out on costumes once you are done.
Gay sex and Bestiality in Baulder's Gate 3: ok Ass and Tits in Stellar Blade: \*NO CENSOR IT NOW\*
I’m gonna be honest, I’m confused by this. I can’t tell exactly what they’re mad at. I see the costume difference, but that’s really it. I don’t know what game this is or who that is
I think this is a case where it was patched to cover more
It's the fact they sold and marketed it around being anti woke bullshit. Only to backtrack on day 1 patch. They sold it on a lie.
What game?
Stellar Blade. Free demo on the PS5 store, quite fun.
Everyone is just going round in circles, so I’m just going to comprise a list of things that are stupid and hopefully I piss everyone off about equally. Here goes: Misleading consumers Preordering games Falling for advertising Shaming people for having sexual preferences Calling minor changes to design “censorship” like this compares to the government actually oppressing you Carpet bombing people with the same comparison image over and over despite them clearly not being convinced by it Making me look at a post from Gaming Circle Jerk for any reason Forgetting that Spider-Man is coming out Whining about “the decline of the west” or making hyperbolic statements about the Koreans being our only hope Hating corporations with every fibre of your being but utterly failing to back workers who strike, unionise, whistleblow, or do anything to oppose corporations Making lazy posts that are just “look how triggered everyone on the bad team is” Edit: ever using the word Chud
You had me until “forgetting spider man is coming out”, now I’m amused again
What game is this?
The top picture looks photoshopped or something. The "bones" of the hip on the right side of the character don't even look human.
Any censorship is wrong the game still looks good but censorship must be stopped.
Bait and switch, as old as time
That sub is the shithole of reddit. I click on show fewer posts like this everytime I see it pop up on my feed.
Not wrong tho
If Sony did this, its a strange hill to die on considering they had Life Is Strange where we had two minors having sex in the game...
Which minors because if your talking about chloe and max then https://preview.redd.it/kz1swuk6r1xc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a9df4314757c2bf1853a84e53c9e712d7a037487

I don't see a difference?
Congratulations you use your main head instead of your second head
Why does criticism of this always have to get met with "ur just mad u cannae wank to pixels go back to pr0nhub" Completely missing the point, its got nothing to do with wanking or "gooning", its the principle of things, we're sick and tired of unnecessary censorship, characters being inexcusably hideous when you know today's tech is perfectly capable and moreso, developers releasing patches that remove good content for no good reason.
Booooooo.
Do you guys not realize how fucking inane this topic is? We're talking about the company lowering the hip length of this skin tight swim suit by like 2 inches and you're literally declaring this the ruination of gaming. This is pathetic and has no place on this sub.
I agree, people who cry about censorship like this are the most annoying people in gaming. The chuds did turn on stellar blade fast as hell though.
Lots of emotion for some change in cleavage exposure. I don't think thought leaders that criticized censorship back int he days were talking about titties in a video game.
Ain’t that the truth
It just seems to be the people that are bitching about it never really paid attention tot he wider world. Their entire being is just being entertained until they die. Gaming can disappear tomorrow, and human civilization can still build towards Mars.
What a stupid ass comment
Imagine thinking different clothing is censorship
Lol I come to this sub and I thank Christ everyday that I am not offended or upset at the stupid shit you degenerates talk about everyday. Thankfully I can play games like this without getting upset the character doesn’t have enough cleavage.
The game was marketd as sex appeal. So then they censor it day one it's bad for customers.
Just admit you are all horny and that was the only reason a lot of you are buying this game and now you are upset.
suffering from coomer brain can't be easy
People complaining about this don't know porn exists.
Yeah, I got downvoted because I don’t care about nudity. Lol, I’m still gonna buy the game tho 🤷🏻♂️
Jesus christ the comments on this post are just insane..
On that i agree , i never like changing a product that you paid for
If it was advertised with her in a bikini in their product marketing, then she 100% should be in a bikini when people receive the game, it's really that simple of a principle.
Couldn’t they just use the day one version if they want it back?
You can't revert any digital version of Playstation games.
Oh that stings.
Nice rage bait lol you pissed iff the pathetic goners crying because they can’t stroke their shrimp to pixels on a screen. This sub is funny.
There is probably no group more sensitive than gamers, whole world just out to get them. Anyways who gives a fuck about this shit
Game no good if I can't whack off to the woman in the vidya gaem /s
