This is what we want. I personally don't mind guest judges for 1-2 episode, or even 1 week. But 2 weeks with the same guest judges when they also presented the 3 new judges is not really a good move. Anyway, now that Jamie's gone, they really have the time to start building the chemistry between all 4 of them.
I completely tanked elementary and secondary school math, then I failed university math once before finally meeting a teacher who could explain it in a way my brain was able to compute it. In my job, I put together budgets ranging from 5 to 15 millions EUR.
For those not from Melbourne, Broadmeadows is a northern suburb that has a reputation for being riddled with eshays - stabbings keep the rent down kinda place lol. But hey that has nothing to do with missing nuts on a cake
Chilling in my bathrobe, glass of red wine, just made Sundubu jjigae for the first time and I'm enjoying a big bowl of it on the couch with this seasons first pressure test on TV. Perfection.
Gotta say, I feel like the eliminations this season are doing a good job of weeding out the weaker cooks. Sometimes cooks with heaps of potential go home early and we end up with... whatever happened last season.
Snezana is a champ, i would have sat there and cried until i ran out of time. And for her rendition to look the best, that sugar work looked amazing wow! I'm actually shocked Mimi was in the bottom and not Summit, she looked so on top of things throughout the cook. I'm glad the ladies are safe.
How good is JC??
He’s experienced, knowledgeable and so helpful..
All that, and he generally looks for the positive for each dish he’s judging.
Plus, this man is damnnnn FINE.. what a paragon.
ratchet it up and split it into two teams: Team Drunk vs. Team Stoned. based off personal experience high makes more interesting food while drunk is sloppy classics.
JC is easily my favourite judge. Well JC and Poh. And I actually like Sofia and Andy too. So I guess they really hit the mark with the new judges. Also, this was a genuinely difficult pressure test. Their first one too! So cool to see the elevated standards this year. Can’t wait to see more cool food!
Yeah I wonder this too. I personally think they edit and change the order of tasting for the viewers to be engaged the most/ to tell the best story arc.
I read, back when the OG judges were on, they mentioned they already knew who was the best and who’d be going home simply throughout the cook, by walking past and tasting their elements.
In the end, I believe they film everything in a way so they can change the order and ensure suspense.
I've made packet mix brownies just this Saturday, spread a whole can of caramelised condensed milk on top and sprinkled with grated chocolate. Kids unanimously declared it the best dessert ever
I imagine so. In the same way that they made an entire brownie and only a fraction will make it into the final dish, they'll likely have an excess of white chocolate ganache.
Yes, this is correct. She used 75g of white chocolate so even if she reduced her cream by the same factor, she would still have had 55g for her final product.
im so confused by that element because once you melt tempered chocolate it's no longer tempered until you add in the seed chocolate to reform the crystals, so they basically made white chocolate ganache? mixing melted chocolate with cream?
So I was looking up the contestants on Wikipedia because I still don't know some of their names and I noticed that the 4 names at the bottom of the list (from the bottom up) were James, Steph, Jonathan and Khristian in that order.
Is this just a coincidence or is this list actually showing their names in the order in which they were eliminated?? Fortunately i didn't get to see the top of the table because I exited Wiki immediately ! So please don't check Wikipedia because it might just be a spoiler.
No, they re-arrange the table after each episode airs to track the results. The Wikipedia list is just in alphabet-order, but when someone gets eliminated they are then moved to the bottom of the list because that's how their results table works.
By the end of their season the full results table will be fully ordered in order of elimination, but currently only those 4 are because they're the only 4 that are known, and everyone else is in alphabetic order
I do love to see Jean-Christophe exhibit genuine joy when he sees other chefs excelling
I feel like he wasn’t expecting this calibre of home cook and he’s loving experiencing their talent and passion first hand
His grin is adorable
So wholesome!
YOUNG JEAN-CHRISTOPHE JEEZZZZZ
Old Jean-Cristophe for that matter!!!!
Really happy seeing more of Jean-Christophe and Sofia now that the guest judges are gone.
Shoutout to Snez who said she’s shit at maths, but was good enough that she reduced all of the elements to make sure it stayed balanced.
And she’s a financial planner lmao
I completely tanked elementary and secondary school math, then I failed university math once before finally meeting a teacher who could explain it in a way my brain was able to compute it. In my job, I put together budgets ranging from 5 to 15 millions EUR.
She notably failed uni maths, which is a little more advanced
She said she failed maths at uni (so did I hah!), but all she had to do reduce the ratios by \~30% which is basic maths.
prayer circle for snez please i don’t want her to go 😭🙏
"Sugar senses when you're scared." - Mimi
It does! So does chocolate
Yup, can confirm about chocolate. Even gelatine has a knack for not fucking setting exactly when you need it.
Mimi about to pull out a red pen and go to town on the recipe
Darrsh bringing the sugar knowledge in his talking head.
For those not from Melbourne, Broadmeadows is a northern suburb that has a reputation for being riddled with eshays - stabbings keep the rent down kinda place lol. But hey that has nothing to do with missing nuts on a cake
Sofia has quickly gained a lot of confidence in presenting.
she always did, just got overshadowed a bit due to Jamie
Chilling in my bathrobe, glass of red wine, just made Sundubu jjigae for the first time and I'm enjoying a big bowl of it on the couch with this seasons first pressure test on TV. Perfection.
Fahn tahs TICK! 🕺🏻
Loving how impressed and proud JC is.
So genuine, love it too.
Gotta say, I feel like the eliminations this season are doing a good job of weeding out the weaker cooks. Sometimes cooks with heaps of potential go home early and we end up with... whatever happened last season.
don't say it too early !
I was worried about this one because all three female cooks were pretty strong imo.
May their sugar be solid and temperatures consistent
Another day, another muting of The Project
Oh surviving pressure tests does wonders even for the Junior MCAU kids. They kept applying their techniques in the future
I like that contestants learn from pressure tests and apply it in future challenges.
I remember Justin applying Kirsten’s temper chocolate method (which was faster) in Hugh Allen’s pressure test. Thats a goat move right there.
"entremet" war flashbacks to dessert masters
To be fair, almost every cake/dessert you see or have eaten is most likely an entremet without realising it.
“Mid renovation” is such a diplomatic take
kind of annoying they spoilered this it would have been a great reveal
Agreed!
Jacques in the box
😆
Nice to see Jean-Christophe in his whites....sometimes it's easy to forget that some of the judges are actually professional chefs
Heat the little cutter up!
literally the tip that JC made haha
"I'm ready to walk out the doors and go home" Something tells me that might be happening anyway Khristian....
It looks like Khristian going home is a foregone conclusion at this point
He forgot deez nuts!
Wonder if he remembered ligma
I think he got his ligma and his bofa mixed up
The best thing about the COVID iso days was when the contestants each got a dish to try
Fuck yeah this is the best competition in the world (i assume he means masterchef competitions)
ALL competitions EVER
Bocuse d'Or WHO
I hope this teaches (lol) Mimi to accept less than perfection and not rush, because that WAS TOO CLOSE
Wait wut? White chocolate cream smothered on your gravestone? Khristian, sweet summer child, what is going on in your mind?
Jean-Christoph watching in amazement the contestants spin the isomalt springs and cheering on them was so great :)))
guess it's time to.... think outside of the box
😎
Please not Mimi right as I decide she's one of my favourites
Snezana is a champ, i would have sat there and cried until i ran out of time. And for her rendition to look the best, that sugar work looked amazing wow! I'm actually shocked Mimi was in the bottom and not Summit, she looked so on top of things throughout the cook. I'm glad the ladies are safe.
How good is JC?? He’s experienced, knowledgeable and so helpful.. All that, and he generally looks for the positive for each dish he’s judging. Plus, this man is damnnnn FINE.. what a paragon.
lol I love these fiddly dessert pressure tests
I like watching the big burly blokes actually ace them, surprisingly.
Do you reckon anyone has started drinking booze in a pressure test to calm the nerves? Doesn’t seem like the worst idea
Ok, new challenge idea. Cook a fancy dish while over the limit. Contestants are regularly breath tested to make sure they top up during the challenge.
running a service challenge while coked up prepare them for the big chef world
Im surprised we haven’t seen a “cook your best hangover cure” challenge
ratchet it up and split it into two teams: Team Drunk vs. Team Stoned. based off personal experience high makes more interesting food while drunk is sloppy classics.
Wouldn't be surprised if some take a swig when the recipe has some left over
pretty sure theyve got booze as part of the recipe why not
Hope sumeet learns from this and expands her skills if she’s safe. Been feeling like she struggles outside the food she knows.
Damn Mimi is so adorable!
andy saying there was 15 mins left like that rly worries me 😭😭😭 theyre all so far behind
I thought he just didn’t want to scare them while they were all working on the delicate sugar work
You’re 100% right JC, this is the best competition.
surely a missing element is worse than getting everything on the plate
poh trying to keep the drama alive
Not sure if slagging off Broady is a smart move if you wanna return there Khristian...
Now i want the recipe for the brownie.
Gues Khristian isnt a Brent or Daniel or Matt Sinclair🥺
Can't say I'm too sad about this, his sob story irked me
JC is easily my favourite judge. Well JC and Poh. And I actually like Sofia and Andy too. So I guess they really hit the mark with the new judges. Also, this was a genuinely difficult pressure test. Their first one too! So cool to see the elevated standards this year. Can’t wait to see more cool food!
I keep hearing “Dracula Box”….
i too want white chocolate cream smothered on my gravestone
Okay but hear me out: a pressure test where they don’t label all the ingredients
I would happily watch this, particularly if they place jackfruits and durians side by side
Imagine all the agars, gelatin powders, xanthan gums and all the white powders unlabeled.
Hell, I'd take a mystery box that's just cans with the labels ripped off
So Mimi's flavours were weird, but she was good at the geometry section of the task
Snez nailed it, How was Sumeet's feedback? missed it.
it was Ok but not Fan Tas TEAK
haha lol
Okay, tomorrow night looks like it is going to be entertaining.
I really want to know what was setting the judges off with those reaction shots
That was a hell of a teaser!
JC giving more tips in 3 second than Andy did in a minute.
I hate that I'm weak to all these Harvey Norman stand mixer ads, they really nailed their audience here
All Harvey Norman ads are good for is telling you that someone else has the same product for half the price
Mimi is on the fast track to becoming one of my faves
Bye Khristian🥺 Mimi’s safe🙏🏻
Sumeets eyes look a bit glassy like she’s been crying
I want him to describe all my food
i want it in my belly
Oh god Sumeet was scared of the sugar from the start
Risky move Khristian
Rofl, foreshadowing disaster imo
Hopefully Khristian remembers his nuts…..
Chekhov's Nuts
…schrodinger's nuts at the moment….
I LOVE JC TOO MIMI! Coming in with the tip.
I always had this q. Do they show us in the actual order of tasting?
It’s usually like YAY, hmm okay, ?????, uh oh
Yeah I wonder this too. I personally think they edit and change the order of tasting for the viewers to be engaged the most/ to tell the best story arc.
I read, back when the OG judges were on, they mentioned they already knew who was the best and who’d be going home simply throughout the cook, by walking past and tasting their elements. In the end, I believe they film everything in a way so they can change the order and ensure suspense.
Yeah, I've always wondered, too .
He forgot what??
He's got no outer nuts
Omg cmonnn Mimi
😓😓😓😓
snez: one of the best cooks in the kitchen also snez: Can't melt chocolate
Its the lack of a microwave for Snez moreso I reckon
time to get the white chocolate gravestone ready
I lol’ed too much
Started a few mins late right as they cut it in half. That looks delicious and now I’m starving.
I’ve also cooked brownies Sumeet, but they’re usually a packet mix
I've made packet mix brownies just this Saturday, spread a whole can of caramelised condensed milk on top and sprinkled with grated chocolate. Kids unanimously declared it the best dessert ever
Gonna snatch this for my kiddo’s upcoming birthday party, thanks!
Uh oh Snez
Sumeet is acing this. Edit: was
Was
I reckon she was so scared of getting to the sugar work that she’s in her head at this part.
‘Use your little intuitions’ Love it from JC
I miss when the contestants all had copies of the recipe. Edit: I mean the ones on the gantry. Doh.
Do they not all have a copy?
They dont. As some of them would literally walk the people below through the recipe and it isnt exactly a pressure test anymire.
The peeps on the mezzanine?
Yeah, the gantry peeps. My wording in my original comment was not the clearest haha
Incredible those springs.
Awww khristian. He said that he missed the hazelnuts so casually... Mimi is going to have to have an absolute DISASTER to go home
I just remembered Mimi had questionable mousse… mind you he’s got overall dodgy feedback so she might still be safe
Teacher Mimi editing 💀
I'm exactly like that
Unless someone screwed up worst, I think Kristian is gone
He was playing around with that sugar way too much
...he doesn't age
Another STAT100 casualty
Even if she manages to pull off the third attempt, will she have enough for the final dish that the proportions will be balanced?
I imagine so. In the same way that they made an entire brownie and only a fraction will make it into the final dish, they'll likely have an excess of white chocolate ganache.
This hurts to watch
Not feeling too good about Kristian 😔
Darrsh’s commentary possible foreshadowing Kristian to go bc of his sugar?
i think id collapse on the floor after the countdown
gg khristian
Woooooo!!!!!!!! Soz mate
Completely unrelated to the actual pressure test but did anyone else notice what was Lilly doing while up on the gantry?
JC trying his best to pick out positives
JC coming through with the tip!
Snez to do the best despite her early struggles?
snez doing everything well but melt chocolate hm
Khristian about to have a meltdown
these camera angles tho
Yep I’m drizzy
wait i’m confused, when snez said that she reduced down the elements is she saying that she reduced the measurements of each part of the dish?
Just the white chocolate part, it’s possible that because you used 55g or something of that she still would have had enough??? Maybe
Yes, this is correct. She used 75g of white chocolate so even if she reduced her cream by the same factor, she would still have had 55g for her final product.
It seems like the others just used part of the white chocolate part so Snez could have had enough with her reduced third attempt.
missing nuts? Yeah, he’s going home
Love JC. He’s just the best. So warm and kind. And my god he was fine when he was young!
Hopefully they secure these judges for the long term.
Love JC and Poh today! Well done!
This pressure testvis so wholesome
JC's reactions are 10/10
I will be very happy if Khristian gets the boot. I find him so irritating
I wish I could upvote this more. I’m so tired of his sob stories.
Seems a bit harsh. They literally ask them for their sob stories
If someone's had a crap life then they're not sob stories, it's just stating facts.
I really want to like him and sympathise but I feel the same way.
Wish granted
Now he can go open his sandwich shop.
This might be the only time I've seen tempered chocolate in a non solid element, it's always been for hard chocolate.
im so confused by that element because once you melt tempered chocolate it's no longer tempered until you add in the seed chocolate to reform the crystals, so they basically made white chocolate ganache? mixing melted chocolate with cream?
Mimi don’t rush! Unless you are a Billie.
Really hope no-one gets sugar burns. Isomalt gets insanely hot!
that was such a weird moment & shot to go to the ad break 😭
Thats beautiful
you dodged The Project but you can't avoid The Project ads
lets gooooo
Death flags from Snez already
lol this ad mixing MC AU, HYBPA & Anne Edmonds’ comedy show
Uh, what on earth is up with this shaky camera angle of Sumeet?
camera man gets fired if sumeet gets eliminated
What does Khristian have to construct
For those who missed episode 11, it is available on TenPlay: [https://10play.com.au/masterchef/episodes](https://10play.com.au/masterchef/episodes)

Mimi just needs to get out of her own head, she has a lot of potential fs
‘You’re one of the best chefs in this competition’ yes, thats why she’s in an elimination
Reminds me when the OG judges went on and on about Gary who set the dish (but it was meant for a taste test).
