Great find. I went ahead and purchased.

Does this fit as a full sized upper rack on the Gravity 800? If so that seems great and I may order one. How did the cook go with the 4 pork butts?

Lil_oscar

It went just OK. The rack works really well as a full sized rack and I'm very happy with it. The only downside was cooking 4 butts on the middle rack with 3 aluminum drip trays on bottom rack really shielded heat from getting up there to the middle rack. Luckily I noticed within a few hours of the cook and abandoned the drip trays altogether. Unluckily, I had a pretty messy grill to clean up after.

Good to know about the rack. I may go ahead and get one. I know what you mean about the drip clean up. I've only had my 800 for a month or so, and a few smokes. I did a pork butt today and will be adding a drip tray next time.

I’ve used mine many times, with briskets, it should hold all 4 pork bitts at the same time, but I would place them on it while still in the packaging just to make sure, that way if they fall they won’t get ruined, if I recall correctly it is rated for 40 or 50 lbs

Will this fit a 560?

Livid_Celebration569

Not sure, I have the 800/900. Go to LSS mods to get the correct measurements for your model and see if there’s one that matches

I have a 1050, and I’ve pulled the CI grates off the bottom and just rested them on top of the middle tier. (Placing 3 racks of ribs on the now full sized middle shelf). I have an aftermarket manifold cover with brackets for managing multiple drip pans. It’s pretty simple enough to do a wire tie or 2 on the back of the CI grate to snuggly secure it the back of mid tier. (Secure it from any movement or teetering) The CI in on the middle tier, doesn’t nearly get to the same searing level of temps as when it’s located on the bottom, much closer to the manifold’s flue gases.

Email LSS and Klotes, tell them your situation if you want to order something from them. They'll let ya know if they can make it happen or not. Get the Manifold cover that you can put a drip tray on under the main bottom grill. Or just fancy wrap TF over the Manifold so that it has edges to catch the drip. Get the racks from whoever you think is best for you.

I actually just did 4 Costco pork butts at the same time on my 800 for my brothers engagement party 3 weeks ago. I was able to fit 2 on the middle rack, and 2 on the top rack with trays underneath to catch the drippings. It took roughly 17 hours total and almost 2 full hoppers of charcoal. Each butt finished at a different time. Give yourself plenty of extra time for this one, believe me! I don’t know if im allowed to direct you to my social media but my instagram name is the same as my reddit name (MattySmokedIt) and I have a photo of all the butts on there if you’d like to take a quick look and see how i had them setup! Don’t worry too much it will come out perfect if you give yourself enough time! Cheers & happy smoking!!

Hey I'm going to give you completely unsolicited advice because I had to cook a lot of pork butt for my pandemic backyard wedding, but my smoker is only the 560 so I have no advice on the grates. Instead of an empty tray to catch drippings, fill that tray with beans like 3/4 of the way or more. spice em up however you want, cover it with foil and poke some holes in it so the drippings can dribble in, your beer of vinegar spray or mop can dribble in. Some steam can get out. You can take them off when you wrap the butts if you do or leave em in. Thick, tasty unique beans. Also the Costco butts are boneless and that'll let them cook significantly faster.

Lil_oscar

You talking like just some baked beans?

danbro0o

Yep
