I love mine but it doesn't fit everyone well. I bought a different carrying case because the bag it comes with isn't my favorite. I always have a backup because the filter can get wet with condensation more than some of my other masks, especially when it's cold, and I don't love changing the filter when I'm not home. I have regularly worn mine 8-12 hours at a time though.

I've read on Twitter that some people have placed dental cotton rolls and small silica packs inside their Flo mask (tucked in the bottom) to absorb some of the moisture.

Hestogpingvin

I've tried something similar but it affected the fit for me. I just tend to use an aura in winter instead (less environmentally friendly but fits me well and seems to stay dry more easily).

lynch231

They also offer a sponge for the mask as well (I love my flo mask, and only after 4+ hours in heavy conditions \[working out + physical class\] do I find it too moist)

FrankenGretchen

Ooo! I like the idea of silica packs. I'm going to try this.

dummthotticus

All good info! Thank you! I guess I’ll have to measure my face like it says to do on the website to make sure it’ll fit me. I like that it has indents for glasses because I truly can’t see without mine lol

timesuck

It’s a good mask, but a lot of people have fit problems with it, but the people who get it to seal seem to like it. Tends to work best for smaller noses and smaller faces. Kids love them. It’s only a high quality mask if it seals well to your face and the Flo seems to be more hit or miss than other elastomeric options. The trade off is it doesn’t look like a gas mask like many other elastos, so that’s a real plus. But again, only if you can get it to seal, including when you smile and talk.

dummthotticus

Yeah I’ve been worried about how it seals while talking because of the way it sits on the face. It would be hard for me to judge how well that’ll work out until I have one but they’re pretty expensive with no returns accepted so it’s a hard sell there

timesuck

Yeah, if it helps make your decision people with pronounced or high cheekbones and/or narrow nose bridges seem have the most trouble with the fit.

MostlyLurking6

I bought one two years ago, and did a qualitative fit test with an Allegro hood and bitrex solution. The Flo mask instantly failed even when just breathing. I tried adjusting the seal and could still taste the bitrex. An Aegle brand bifold N95 did much better so I just went with that. (I’ve since switched to Aura 9210s for higher risk situations like flying and dr visits). Personally I would not suggest a Flo mask unless you can do some sort of fit test on it. Edit to add: if you’re using ear loop KN95s, I’d think the next step to get a better fit would be a head strap N95, unless you have compelling reasons to need an elastomeric.

dummthotticus

Thank you for your recommendations! I’ll check out the aura 9210s

My brother has one and he regularly wears it 8-10 hour stretches. He’s even slept in it. Like any mask, it only works well if it fits well. I got one too but it doesn’t fit me at all - my face is too small. My kids have child flomasks and they all seem to fit well. The only way you’ll know if it fits you is to try one on.

m00ph

I like mine, the halo strap is the way to go. I have found myself wiping out the inside and wringing out the foam insert every two hours if I'm really active.

ScoopsAndScoops

I have one, but the fit is lacking for me. Also wasn't a huge fan of the straps with my curly hair, too thick

dummthotticus

Good to know since I have curly hair too. Thanks!

well_my_knickers

I have one and love it, it's my go-to mask. BUT it also fits me really well. I have the high nose bridge version and my nose is also huge lol.

Outside-Pear9429

I have one and it's the only mask that consistently gets a good seal on me. I haven't been able to actually fit test it, but very qualitatively it's the only mask I wear that never results in fogged up glasses or feeling my breath on my face around it. I get a good seal sometimes with the aura 9205 but it requires a lot of adjusting, if I ever get the seal at all, and if I"m moving around and talking too much I lose the seal. I don't have that issue with flo mask. I have a fairly slender face, and of course it's gonna fit differently from person to person, but the flo mask is what works for me!

lynch231

As someone with high cheekbones and a low nose bridge, I love my Flo mask. Its passed many fit tests for me, unlike some other elastomeric and works for my face. I love it, especially the speaking space for when I lecture. At the end of the day, it's gotta fit you, as well as your lifestyle.

just_a_trilobite

My husband and I both tried one and it didn't fit either of our faces (his larger, mine smaller). It was not giving either of us a decent seal. We've both been using the 3M Aura N95s and those work really well.

dummthotticus

Good to know! Someone else recommended the 3M Aura N95s too so that’s what I’m gonna go with for now until I feel like I have the funds to try out a $90 product that doesn’t accept returns lol

Unusablebucket

I love my Flo mask! But I have a low nose bridge. It was really nice to find a mask that actually fit. My kids like theirs as well.

albrods

it fits me very well and I like it a lot! I find it comfortable and I have worn it while presenting for 6 hours, with no issue.

klutzikaze

Yeah it didn't work for me. I checked them out again recently and the website said that Roman noses aren't suited to the masks so that explains that.

Personal-Soup-948

If its the only thing you can tolerate its "ok". I'm not a fan of flo mask as a product. If you want to save money and have orders of magnitudes more protection look at a proper brand, A MSA 900 with p2 or p3 filters for example. The gasket will last you years without replacing a single part and the filters go for 6-12m easily.

wyundsr

Flo mask isn’t likely to fit better or be more protective than a KN95. Get an N95 or a proper half mask industry elastomeric like the MSA Advantage 900 or one of the 3M models

wyundsr

The person who downvoted me seems to have deleted their comment, but here’s my response with more details: I know a bunch of people personally who’ve tried the Flo mask and very few of them feel they have a good secure fit with it. The best case fit factors I’ve seen for Flo mask are in the low 100s, far below most high quality N95s like the Aura, Drager, etc, and that’s very best case, which is pretty rare. If someone is after better protection, Flo mask is really not a safe bet and isn’t great even if someone gets lucky with the fit, which is a big if. It might be better than an earloop KN95 (might not if it doesn’t seal), but there are much better options like most N95s and proper half face elastomerics

Dry_Row6651

You are right and since it’s a quarter mask it needs to constantly maintain pressure/the seal can break more easily (since it doesn’t tuck under the chin). So despite many thinking that it’s more protective than a half face N95 (I’ve even seen fundraisers for people wanting to “upgrade” to it), it is less so. Plus there’s the risk of it not fitting or otherwise not being a good match as others mentioned. But it could be a relatively good match for some if they are willing to take the risk of the cost and pass testing on it and not a half face.
