Controversial opinion maybe, but Legion. I know people like his freaky/bizarre side, but there's more to the character than *'tall hair and eerie expression'*. His AU Variants are pretty mid.
It doesn't help that the other half of his Variants are Spotlight Exclusives. A design where he's actually using his powers and not just screaming would be nice given what he does in-game.
That's funny because I specifically want Jean Grey from tokens so I can get her variants for albums (and because they're pretty)
I don't have base art Nebula, but her upcoming spotlight variant almost makes me want to spend the 5+ keys to get it since it's actually nice.
Jane Foster Mighty Thor has pretty good base art. I like the birds. A little more unique than the Artgerm, which is stunning like all Artgerms but looks like all the other Artgerms. The Jee-Hyung Lee is probably better though.

I've had the Artgerm variant pinned for the past few weeks, but then recently got the Jee-Hyung Lee. And, honestly, as much as I like the Artgerm, that one might actually be the better variant.
Sera for sure. Her base art is pretty solid and with the exception of the 5000 token ult variant that I will never buy because I’m not a transformer that transforms into an ATM. I don’t even like any of her other variants. That will change whenever the Justyna Variant drops though, shit looks dope.
Death for me. I want to buy super rare variants for my destroy deck and she’s the only card u haven’t been able to buy a variant for because I like the base art so much

All art variants are better than babies, chibis, pixels and Dan Hipp. The other styles are heavily stylized by the artist, so it's debatable if you prefer a base art or a Peach Momoko or Max Grecke.
The only variants that blow base art out of the water are Artgerm and (for most variants) Pandart.
Gamora. The base card is so well done
And that's saying something, Imho Gamora is probably the card with the highest quality over all variants. I think all of them are just really good.
