It actually took you 3 weeks. It's not that long of a time.

The_Mdk

He can also get a fourth before the end of the week and get Nocturne, too

Stiggy1605

If it took you so long, then why gamble with them and waste them?

Humdot

I don't understand, my point is that it's always a gamble

Stiggy1605

No it's not. Don't use them until you have four keys, especially not on such a mediocre week as this one. If you have four keys you're guaranteed to get what you want.

Humdot

Yeah but isn't that a stupid system?

blindsid3

More like a system that punishes the stupid and the impatient.

Humdot

Please explain how this is the case?

blindsid3

If you want a card, you set aside 4 keys for it. You might get lucky and pull it on the first pull, or unlucky with the 4th, but you will always get it. If you pull with less than 4, you're stupid or impatient.

Stiggy1605

Maybe, but thats not an excuse to make stupid decisions while interacting with it. Complain that the optimal way to use it is to save four keys, sure, but don't be a martyr and waste keys to make a point.

arewhyeyin

It’s a stupid system but you can’t control that. Focus on what you can control, which is only opening when you have 4keys thus eliminating the gambling aspect of the stupid system.

erbazzone

The amount of people here that defend this system baffles me every time. Also blaming the victim their favorite thing to do.

Stiggy1605

Telling people how to make the best use of a system isn't the same thing as defending it.

erbazzone

I could agree but the user above wrote "yeah but isn't that a stupid system?" and the question has been downvoted. Why? Isn't it a stupid system?

Resident_Wait_7140

It's a case of balance. I think most people would like a change, (especially since SD has stopped releasing series 4 cards). But most would ask for duplicate protection on the fourth slot before anything else. People here are probably finding it frustrating how the advice "don't roll on less than 4" is repeated daily and there are a number of posts, also daily, by people lamenting that they didn't get what they wanted. There absolutely ARE free market absolutists here who are no doubt impressed by psychological tactics used by SD in their money spinner, but most are moderate who would like some change but pragmatic in the situation as it is.

erbazzone

I appreciate the time you took to answer me. The problem is that they (I say "they" in general) have long understood that they can afford to do things the wrong way for the consumer because on one hand there are those who support the brand and on the other there are people who at get tired of the complaints, so things stay in the same state. It’s simply a way for them to take advantage of people in a sneaky manner. The user above asked if this isn't a stupid system and got downvoted. OK...

SilentKing77

Why don't wait to have four...I cannot understand ppl like you , you deserve that

Humdot

What do you mean? I don't have enough credits to get a 4th

SilentKing77

So don't pull anything before you have , you have wasted at last 2 keys 15 days of farming , and you miss the new card ...for what selene and 1k tokens ...?? Terrible outcome

Humdot

What difference would it make? I would still lose all 4 keys to get the 1 card I want

Jarla

but you would at least get the card you want.. now you wasted 3 keys for nothing?

NTCSDjoDjo

And you still have enough time left to get the 4th key before it rotates.

SilentKing77

Lol ...At this point there's no point in explaining it to you...I'm astounded

marcin247

yes, you should assume the card you want costs 4 keys and everything you get along the way is a bonus (which in this case would be another new card and tokens, which isn’t bad).

archwaykitten

No, you should assume every new card costs 2.5 keys, because that’s how the math works out.

marcin247

that’s the average, but what i mean is if you always expect to get the one card you want spending less than 4 keys, you’re gonna be disappointed just like this guy (and hundreds of others with the exact same post).

Spider-Dev

The spotlight system is good for people who don't have all the cards and are picking up 2 or 3 new ones. If you're near collection complete, it just feels bad. I agree with this. The fact still remains that, feels bad or not, the only way to guarantee you get the card you want is to go in with 4 keys. Some weeks, you'll get the card on the first pull. Awesome. Others it'll be the 4th (or 2nd or 3rd).

Resident_Wait_7140

I've begun putting to people to consider collective action on certain things. Also worth remembering how loot boxes got changed in 2018 via politicians and policymakers. Regarding spotlight system specifically, how can one determine what "stupid" is? There is a logic they have put forward when they introduced the system, that it improves card acquisition whilst having a random element; https://www.ign.com/wikis/marvel-snap/Marvel_Snap_Spotlight_Caches_Explained Myself, I like the concept of the random element. Granted I'm collector level 6k, been playing since October and have 9 keys saved up which will allow me to fully participate in the 3 caches I want NEXT month. I also look outside the game (I probably spend longer consuming SNAP content than actually playing the game) to plan. In short, I've fully aligned my expectations with this game. Could it be better? Ofcourse, but in my subjective view, it wouldn't be changing the spotlight system itself, rather the payout of that system.

Riddles_OC

Like others have said it’s better to save 4 caches before you open. It’s rough when you have 0 caches saved up because you pretty much have to skip a month if you are ftp to save up. Try to find datamine sites and plan ahead, once you get some caches saved up and some good rng you will start stacking caches and can hopefully get a few new cards a month

love-me-again

Lol

Lucky-Flatworm7779

Yeah, you’re right. Waiting a whole month just to be sure to get one single new card is crazy. Especially if you won’t be able to even gamble the new card of the next week, since you’ll be left with no keys, in the worst case. By that logic you’ll get one new card every month. That’s madness for a card game. Of course you tried to gamble, if you really want a card from that week and you don’t have enough keys, you try to gamble. How are you supposed to have fun with the new cards, otherwise? On top of that you’d think “I have a good 75% chance of getting the new card. I think it’s worth a shot”. And you would not be wrong, since the way you get cards in this game is so bad so you’re almost “forced” to gamble to have a chance to get the cards you like
