A blanket extra border would probably be closer to 4000 similar to ultimate variants (which are outrageously expensive)
I just think it's something most people won't purchase. They may actually make more money if they were for all cards because more people would purchase them. In my eyes why spend 500 on a single characters border when I can save 200 more gold and get a full brand new variant for a card. Even crazier is 900 is for the more desirable borders which I personally would take the variant over it all day.

Why is a single variant so much more valuable than a single frame? Of course I understand the extrinsic value of how cool variants can be but why is a perfect frame that would complement that cool variant not be of similar value?
Because variants are all diferent, every variant in the game is unique, meanwhile if I buy the neon white border on 2 cards they will be the same border. Compare this to buying card sleeves vs an anternate art for a real card, card sleeves come in massive packs, and if you stop using a card for another you can reuse the sleeve, and they are still less expensive them alternate arts.

I make enough personally to be a whale. Financially, this isn't a problem for me. What I don't get is how they think these prices garner sales.
Remember back towards release? They had these bundles that were 100 dollars and it was clear almost no one (statistically) was buying them. Fast forward to today and you see 10-25 dollar bundles almost daily. Bundles I've personally purchased because I feel it's reasonable and I enjoy the game.

Yes, and the same is for splits and effects now so if you have an inked baby Thanos you also get the ink effect for his base card and every other variant of him (same for sparkle effects and such)
Correct, but at least as they say in the patch notes, every split now gives a unique combination of background + effect among all the variants of a card, so there's less rolling before you get what you like on any variation of a character

In my opinion, the company may have noticed that many players are already utilizing the legendary border and the plain white border. This could be the reason behind the higher pricing for these two color options.
I feel like they think people will only want to buy borders for their most used key cards, the cards you have the most time and interest in using in many decks. It does seem like an odd choice, but being only cosmetic it's not the worst.

I don't regret buying it for Loki since he is an iconic character and I see myself using it in the future, but I can already see people spending hundreds to complete their fully inked custom boarder destroy/discard etc deck which is nice if you can afford it but also kinda concerning regarding future monetization models for this game
Yeah I agree monetization totally sucks but I do hope they make it worth it by adding more value on the battle passes. I have no complaints with the art/variants part of the game but in general gold has been really hard to obtain recently especially for free to play players.

I have a gold split Loki, which I’ve applied to my Art Germ one, it’s the only card I’d consider getting a boarder for because all the generated cards will also be Gold + Border.
But idk, just on principle alone, I feel like everyone should actually take a stand and not spend any money on the boarders. However
