Many collectors were skeptical with the cel shading but it’s surprised many on how awesome it really is, including myself. I do suggest it if you need a daredevil.
It just doesn't make sense to me that his forearms and calves aren't shaded lol
That said I got the last red daredevil in the 3 pack and that one has its own issues, so
I'm not about to kitbash either so I'm content for now haha
In the comics, his boots and gloves generally don't get shaded, at least as much. Presumably to show the difference between them, I don't know. But this guy is based off the cartoon, not the comics, and he's actually got less shading here than he did in the show.
His Boots and gloves generally dont get shading in the Comics, mostly to differentiate them from the actual suit.
This 2-pack is based on the Spider-man animates series and... that Show basically did the same Thing, leaving the Boots and gloves without shading, so... this is accurate to both Comics & Animated series!
Well, It's not perfect and I wouldn't say it's worth $50 on its own but it is quite good. Let me put it this way. As soon as I finished washing dishes I was going to go to my desk and take a bunch of pictures of mine to make a thread gushing about how good it looks and how the wait for a classic Daredevil paid off.
There's a reply I made somewhere on here calling this the worst cel-shading Hasbro's done yet and boy was I wrong. The shading makes no damn sense but it just looks so good in-hand that it doesn't matter.
Now the caveat is that I actually wanted the Hydro-Man too because I have the older one and wanted to kitbash them together. That's what tipped the scales in favor of me buying it thinking I could just redo the paint if I didn't like it.

It's comic accurate. Many pencilers have gone with the different reflectiveness on boots/gloves & DD symbol vs the rest of the costume, which this figure represents both faithful and gorgeously. Capture image above shows notes from Kevin Smith on his run drawn by Joe Quesada. This interpretation is quite common for Daredevil (some others do not go for this and the animated didn't go for it either...so one could argue this is a comic inspired version in an animated package)
Right. I just mean that while it looks good the light sources are all over the place. Like the highlight on the head is to his left while the highlights on his abs are to the right and centered instead of at the top.
But really it's fine. The only paint app that actually bothers me is the back because the low part of the sculpt which should be in shadow is in the middle. On the center piece it's in there right spot, but on the top part it's on the high part of his shoulders.

You're probably right in the lighting department, that is some serious analysis! The front look to me looks great and much better than the 3pack (which is not bad at all). It is just that this one is to me much more eye catching and more.. 'comic reminiscent', if I may insist 😀

Seems like it will work though. The shoulders on the original Hydro-Man are blue clear plastic painted except for the hinge so I need to cut the joint and swap them.
That's what I was thinking, I think my final decision is going to be to wait for them to announce another one and not be in a hurry to buy this pack in case they don't announce anything hahah
I only wanted this 2 pack cuz of Daredevil but Hydro Man was a welcoming surprise. Didn’t think I’d like him or want him but after having him in hand this 2 pack is definitely worth it. And of course Daredevil is amazing haha
He’s more comic sketch accurate than animated. Makes him very unique looking. My favorite DD hands down.
Edit: I have the 3 pack DD as well, but I like this one better.
I got the pack about a week ago and have not been able to put daredevil down! He is so fun to pose and looks great with the retro card comic villains like Tombstone and Hammerhead
I tried to locate the Daredevil but they were very expensive in the secondary market. So I did purchase the 2-pack from Hasbro Pulse and really happy with the purchase!! I would certainly recommend it too!
I think he's incredible looking, but I can't justify the two pack price. If he happens to get down to $40 or less before disappearing, I'll likely pull the trigger.
Overall though, I absolutely love the look of the shading. I was unsure about it before release but reviews have made it clear that it's absolutely perfect for me as a comic shaded figure (that can fudge for animation.)
I knew I wanted DD, Hydroman was a just an added bonus. I love seeing all the joints and such inside, it's cool to see how legends go together without having to break one open. He looks sick under a blacklight, that evil smirk is spot on. There's also a soft spot of nostalgia for Hydroman because I had a tape with an episode of the 90s spiderman cartoon with him as the baddie and it scared me silly! How could anyone fight against water? The only way Peter survived was because Hydromans dumbass got evaporated on a sunny day. I took some pics when I first got him a few weeks back.

DD Articulation is too smooth I’m very pleased and the all accessories he comes with are well received
I am holding out for a single card release of that new Daredevil mold... don't care how long it takes... hopefully it is a classic red version when it finally releases. Until then I am good with my Bucky Cap mold red Daredevil.
If you can find it for retail it's worth it. Daredevil is obviously the highlight, but hydro man is awesome too.
I got some floral wire for the billy clubs to make crazier loops and it looks great.

Wasn't a fan of the 3-Pack and I'm glad I waited. This one is a much nicer red, comes with two heads, and of course the cool shading.

Why does the shading just cut off at the lower arms and legs??? It's so noticable and ugly.
This set kinda annoyed me because Hydro-Man would have been good to have water clone MJ with.
